Also good games to the stig, kiunch, and B__L. B__L, that double emerald buster was epic. Too bad most of you were gone by then. :P
When Kaseius and I did double emerald buster, we both just stood there, unabled to be pulled despite being magnetized. You weren't supposed to get the throw off on me.
But still, very epic. And educational. And painful.
Sorry for the complaints about lag last night. When the latency is so bad that I can't defend properly against Noel's rushdown, I get snippy, especially when he's bragging that he beats 90% of Tagers that way. :x
Especially when it's just a simple ordeal to sledge, 6A, 2C xx Heat, 6C, and 5D or shot for even more damage to beat it out with a guaranteed high damage combo.
Erm, not mean to brag when I say I beat 90% of the Tagar online with that chain, sorry if it sound like I was braging. I would explain myself more, it’s just hard to communicate on PSN chat with the typing lag, each line only can hold half a sentence, and randomly freeze your system.
I guess what I meant was, when I play Ranked, having Noel marked in my profile, 50% of time the opponent will select Tagar to counter Noel. It was painful fighting Tagar as Noel, all her moves are within Tagar’s throw range, she has nothing to get out of pressure from Tagar once grounded, and Tagar can spam throw her out of the drive attack. After knowing that chance, I no longer have problem against random Tagar, and even against real Tagar player, using that plus mix-up give me a lot better chance against them.
Yeah our matches wasn’t lagless, for some reason when you host I have a lot less lag when fighting against whippy. May be the host internet connection does affect everyone else?

I play Blazblue, Soul Calibur 4, Street Fighter 4 and soon Tekken 6... yeah... so add me if you want to play any of those.
Yeah, Stoked and Nick were complaining about Ragna's range. I don't think it was so much that as it was Carl's very...not good...range. Though I was playing with manly HakuMEN(though you did get me quite a few rounds, Kai...that round where you pretty much perfected me was brutal. Your Ragna has gotten a lot better. One thing I noticed though is sometimes you don't watch where your opponent will roll. I know during our last matches I got away from your rushdown by just waiting for you do run right at me then rolling under your legs).
Good games, everyone. Sorry about that last match and my disconnect shortly afterwards. My sister came home and got on Myspace(evil) then my DSL dropped again shortly afterwards. Would get cable to stop that but only people out here who supply it are Comcast and they're pretty much evil themselves.
I was losing concentration by that point, but what to do about rolls is one of my biggest weaknesses. I think my major concern with those later matches was the constantly missing throws and the various trying to throw out D when I should be Bing.
Carl has from what I read some of the worst range and priority. Ragnas B has some of the best range and priority. Its silly to think Rag wouldnt have a humongous advantage there. Although I still have trouble getting in on a good carl - if they use Nissan right its hard as shit for me to move in safely.
Oh and he might have that range but his supers are complete shit. The dash across the screen is trash, it is vulnerable at startup AND before it hits, and when blocking the first hit most people can punish before the second. And Blood Kain, while pretty sick, Is way too risky. All it does is make your rushdown slightly better and give you some big combos that arent any more garunteed. Idiots fall for Ds a lot, but most of it is rushdown you could do without taking massive damage. And the extra healing only makes up for the damage - and only if you keep attacking. If you get caught in a lockdown you take massive damage.
So basically your only defensive move is ID and I am incapable of using it defensively on this pad. That and with no real projectile people like Arakune can still outrange and keepaway on rags.
Hot damn, I think I'm starting to get better. I tried Noel today, and floored the competition online. It's almost a cheat how I can button-combo without effort.
I'm also getting into Story mode, but I wonder how you unlock the alternate scenarios/endings with each character? Just keep playing the other character's stories?
The 2nd Miss Litchi episode was quite entertaining as well, like a Lucky Star episode.

Depends on the particular character/ending. There are special requirments for various endings, such as finishing certain opponents with distortion drives, losing fights, as well as achieving other endings first.

Guess I'll continue through then. I don't want to follow a guide until I've covered everyone's stories at least once.
Are there additional story modes to unlock? I'd like to know what the deal is with the boss characters.
Yeah, there are particular endings considered "clear" for the character (you'll know you have the clear ending when it does not say "An alternate truth has yet to be found") and after you have each character's clear ending you unlock Hakumen and Nu's story paths. Finding their clear endings unlocks a final special story mode.

Huh wha? I had no idea.
Oh yeah, I would have never realized it myself with out a guide. I mentioned it earlier in the thread, but one particularly awesome path is unlocked by defeating Bang with a DD in Tager's story mode.
Just kidding, anyone have any strategies for Carl? I can't play him too well, getting through his story mode was so damn frustrating.
Carl sucks except he has incredibly damaging loops. So to be good with carl learn loops. Learn sandwich loop where enemy is between you and puppet. Then go onto learning clap loop where you press 2C and then 8D clap them. Then learn clap throw loop where you throw them and 8D clap them and punish techs and bursts and crap. This is his main source of damage as his combos without loops are short and don't hardly any damage, and his distortion drives aren't really meant for high damage.
pokes:
2B is a great poke that leaves you at no disadvantage. 5B is fast but the range is deceptively awful. 5C is a good poke but slow. 623D is great as it has some super armor and has good area denial. You can throw out 8d too and the clap will stay out deceptively long, and you can possibly go into a clap loop from there if they get hit, unlikely they'll be stupid.
Puppet moving.
Doing 41236D works for a while and is gimmicky (it's the drill claw move). I for one use it way too much as the puppet can be jumped over and the puppet is immobile and open for a good 2 seconds after, meaning they can smack it or jump at you and your puppetless. Instead, move puppet slowly and have carl move instead. You can then go for a combo-into summon- into loop or just try to get them between you and the puppet.
cool techniques:
-Allecancel where you do 2C in the air and you cancel it with 214 C which makes you not bounce off your opponent and land instantly. Can only be done close to the ground though, like iad height, or else you just allegretto.
- 2C~B in the air means you cancel your 2C with a throw meaning you drop really fast... It's not for actually throwing, but it means your not stuck in the air doing nothing and being the the ground is probably a little safer for Carl.
Everything else is character specifics as Carl has to get over his really crappy matchups, range, priority, health, jumpins, anti-airs, etc.
Oh yeah his A moves do not gatling into each other. So you cannot mash A like you can with some chars to get in or out of pressure i.e. noel or jin.
I can't say whether stoked or me or whoever is more proficient in knowledge but theres some things to get you started... We'd probably be better at answering specifics.
I played through Jin's story mode, gaining about 75 percent completion.
I hope the general WTF-ery is resolved once everyone's maxed out at 100%. I don't want this to be a Guilty Gear deal where they milk it for BlazBlue X2 or whatnot.

Wait, isn't that the command grab?
Played a good few rounds with a great tager player today. He went rachel for awhile and I super countered frog with him a full screen away. Dude didn't catch on.
Well I finally played some Rank with my clap trap retrained unrusted Carl. I won a shiton of matches but a few Ragnas got the better of me. I got 4 disconnectors, they were all Jins. Hmmm Apparently Carl is a cheap bitch who takes no skillzzz. I 'd
Oh and my Bang is improving with my knowledge of character specific combos. I got complemented by a few people who said I had a "cold and calculated Bang!"
Awesome fun to play. I just need to learn his Furinkazan combos and I'll be more dangerous.

No the command grab is 63214D. Brings up another good point though. The puppet will act using carl's view point. So if the puppet is on the other side of the opponent, do not tilt towards them and release D to punch. Use 6D. This is probably pretty obvious but keep it in mind so you don't do stupid mistakes i.e. doing slow spinning slap instead of a punch.

I am a longtime lurker and just got this for 360 on Monday. I'm looking for some friendly people to play against to hone my skills as I have not played a fighting game seriously for over 5 years. I usually play after 7 PM EST on weekdays.
Gamer tag is Melodic Silence I'll also send a PM to try and get in the group.

I just got a stick yesterday myself, it's very different and interesting
Oh, I agree. If you took away Ragna's range that would be horrible. It's a big part of his pressure game.
And my mains progress is looking good so far it's as such:
Jin: Good(looking to reach great)
Hakumen: Medicore -> Decent(trying to get to good)
Rachel: Suck -> Slightly less suck(trying to get to medicore)

You're mad. There's too much stuff that needs to be fixed. A balance update is inevitable.
Fuck bug curse on block, even though they probably won't change that. ):
Isn't the plan to release a patch as a balance update?
I don't know. They have been saying that about every new fighting game that has come out.
That would be preferable though. Arcsys makes their balancing choices far and wide.
