I need a new battery for my Dell Inspiron E1505, but I'm not sure where to get it from. If I go through Dell, I'll have to pay $155, plus any tax and shipping. I've found a bunch of other sites that have it in the $45-$120 range, but I'm not sure about the quality of the battery. Amazon reviews from one seller are almost all negative, saying that the battery didn't last very long at all before it wouldn't hold a charge anymore. Others say they have a 1 year warranty, which is the same as the Dell, but I haven't found a site that has a warranty and reviews of the products. Are any of these people that sell cheaper batteries worth going to, or should I suck it up and buy from Dell?
I agree. Lithium Ion batteries degrade with age, and Dell likely goes through batteries quickly enough they don't have old stock laying around. I'd also buy from the manufacturer, Dell in your case, even though it's more expensive. Don't risk buying a "new in package" battery that has been sitting in a warehouse for 1-2 years, with only 60 or 70 percent of the original capacity left.
