I would apply, but I got in the other game and I'm 95% sure I'd start my own kimewagon if I managed to grab slots in both Eberron games.

I'll choose based on how I wanna, not based on who's playing whose!

And well, it's not like being active in other games as player and DM is a bad thing when it comes to being around to post is it.

Uhhh... I'll put my Shifter Shaman in here for consideration.

    Fang Gol'ungoth.

Obviously I'd have to change up the background depending on location.

Well, since I didn't get into the other one, I'll throw my fighter in for this one since I'm really itching to play a defender. Though if the campaign is going to be more magical, I might make a swordmage.

    Anyways, here's the fighter.

    ITEMS
Greatsword, Adventurer's Kit, Identification Papers, with Portrait, Plate Armor

    Personality Traits
Loyal, honest, and dedicated. Responsible, trustworthy, and decisive. All describe a stereotypical Knight, and Matthias fills that role perfectly. Matthias will never knowingly betray anyone that he has befriended. He is quick to decide which course of action to take as he sees the world in black and white choices. He sticks with his decisions through the easy times and even when things go downhill and turn out all wrong. A childhood friend once told him that he was an example to set himself against for right and wrong.

    Mannerisms and Appearance
Matthias is fairly meticulous when it comes to taking care of himself and his gear. While his hair is usually a wild mess, it's almost always to be blamed on the fact that he never rests until any tasks he has set for himself are complete. His mustache and beard are trimmed neatly and he makes sure to keep himself as clean as he can. He is well organized and keeps his gear in a "new" state at all times. Any dents or gashes have to be repaired at the first opportunity, no matter the cost.

He keeps at his relationships as vigorously as he does at keeping his gear in top shape. He visits friends and companions when he is not on patrol for the local guards or spending time with family members. He is kind to all he meets unless they prove themselves to be someone that needs to be taught the proper way to treat others. This has usually meant Matthias eventually gets into an argument with them until either a fight breaks out or they come around to his side of things.

    Background
Coming soon! Just finished reading the EPG, so will be writing this up when I get home tonight.

Journal Entry - will change once campaign info is given to fit
Morning, 10 Olarune, 994 YK (or whatever date we start on)
I make my way now towards the borders of Cyre and Breland. My commanding officer has tasked me with scouting out a tower in the distance. That was yesterday about mid afternoon. I gathered my gear and have traveled most of last night and now write this before setting out today to continue the journey. I have shined my armor and made sure that my sword is properly sharpened. I now go to finish packing the remainder of my gear.

The intelligence report that I was given mentioned a group storing food or some such in the area, or perhaps using the tower itself as a hiding spot to watch our troop movements from. There is speculation among the lower ranked officers that something else could be going on. I shall detail all that I find in this journal. My next entry shall be made once I arrive at the tower or if I chance upon something I deem relevant.

No, I was saying cut it out with the Bard leaders. :) Particularly since the setting has a new arcane leader.

Arivia, I've known players to be in three or four games simultaneously around here, without running any games themselves, so whatever. My point was is it's my opinion that matters. I may give some preference for those who got left out last time, I might not. I'm running some D&D not a soup kitchen though! Going to do what I think best for making an interesting and fun game that hopefully keeps chugging along.

I think he might mean that Artificers are the Arcane leaders in this setting.

My submission (I'll edit and post my sheet when I know creation specifics):

    Verdant, Warforged Warden

    Appearance:
    Warforged_by_cwgabriel.jpg

Verdant stands taller than most warforged. The parts of a warforged that are normally comprised of wood appear to be made of living vines on Verdant, shifting almost imperceptibly when he is anxious.
    Background:
Designation: 01010110 01100101 01110010 01100100 01100001 01101110 01110100 (renamed "Verdant") was, like all warforged, built for war. During an intense battle at Cragwar, a large explosion rocked the camp where it was stationed. Blasted into a nearby grove, Verdant deactivated and went into a torpor state. His battalion, thinking him dead, moved on without him.

Fortunately for our hero, the story did not end there. Spirits of the The King's Forest, fascinated by this construct, took the task in hand to repair the metal man. Many days of work and infusions of wild magics were able to bring Verdant back to the land of the "living." With his battalion gone, Verdant lacked a purpose. He was keen on learning all he could from the spirits who had taken pity upon him.

The spirits grew tired of calling him 01010110 01100101 01110010 01100100 01100001 01101110 01110100, so they rechristened him as "Verdant." This name, and the knowledge imparted upon the warforged, gave him a sense of duty to and love of nature. Using the restorative magics as a starting point, Verdant was able to enhance his already great strength with that of the earth beneath his feet.

After training for some time, the spirits implored him to investigate a local structure called the Tower of Scars. Big things were happening there, and the spirits wanted to know more. Verdant was happy to oblige his friends and mentors. Purchasing some weapons and armor from a traveling merchant, he made his way to the tower...
    Personality:
Verdant generally refers to himself in the third person, though he is trying to break this habit, as it seems to perturb other humanoids he finds himself in company with.

He is fiercely loyal, but also slightly naive as to the ways of the world. (Think Robot Bumpkin. :))

    I'm interested!

I don't have a voluminous post history, but I think that by and large I've avoided saying or doing anything tremendously stupid. And although I don't post that much, I do have boards open in a window pretty much all day while I'm at work, so I'm unlikely to disappear.

Assuming you're still reading, the concept I'm working with now is a Warforged Druid, partly because there's some outrageously good art for such a thing out there and mostly because I think an artifical creature learning about the natural world in order to better understand the meaning of his own existence is pretty compelling. Alternately, a Warforged Artificer could be neat, I think.

Either way, he will be named Brand.

I'm at work right now, but I'll hack up a proper submission when I get home in a few hours.

-edit- Oop, I see there's already Primal Warforged submitted. Ah, what the hell.

Ok, for some reason I thought you meant you were already considering a leader position. If that was true I was gonna switch Fang up to a Druid, however, I'm gonna keep him as a shaman. Here's the rest of info, since people are posting all of it, and I don't want to get left in the dust.

    Appearance:
Nearly 6' tall, Fang looks nearly human. Only a couple features give away his ancestry. He has long ears that come to a point, along with an extended nose, with slightly sharper teeth, all very reminiscent of a canine race.

    Personality:
Fang is surprisingly reserved for one of his kind. Having spent many years in the wilderness alone, his communication with other humanoids is poor at best. Often, he mistakenly uses primal growls instead of the words he intends. For this reason, he tries to be quiet, but can be forceful when need be.

    Backgroung:
Born in the wild, raised in the wild. For all his life, the grass and rocks were his bed, the sky and clouds his ceiling. By day, he wandered the forests of the Reaches, and by night, the he slept in the comfort and community of his tribe. It was during this time that Fang developed his connection with nature. His tribe were descendants of lycanthropes now long dead, the werewolf blood that run through their veins now diluted. It was only fitting that Fang managed to develop a connection with nature that many of his tribe could not achieve. Spirits of the forest seemed to speak to him, and he was able to respond. As he grew older, this connection grew, and slowly, he became disconnected from the tribe he spent his childhood with.

It was during this time that he venturing out on his own during the day, and slept off by himself at night, rather than with the rest of the tribe. He slowly printed a map of the Towering Wood in his head, all its features imprinted in his mind. One night, when he finally ventured back to the tribe, he arrived to find the group had come to a decision with out him. Fang had been cast out, and they were moving on without him. This was no surprise to Fang, and, honestly, he didn't mind as much as the tribe thought he would. He spent some years in the forest still, hoping to further develop his growing power. Eventually he made his was out of the forest, a first for any of his formal tribe. After his venture from the Wood, he made his was to Varna, tempted to seek out some form of civilization, and also a desire to find companions in some form other than the spirits he was so used to.

Upon entering Varna, he was surprised to find he was not the only one of his kind there, though few took kindly to him. It was obvious they had been here much longer than he. Deciding that perhaps the best way to integrate himself with in the new setting was to join some form of organization, he joined the local militia. Not long after signing, he received orders from his new commander.

There, that background is now pretty pliable.

Also, I am currently playing in both of Arivia's PBP games.

I just want to play this dude.

A more Eberron-y background will be up when you actually give us more details about the game.

Didn't get into any games here before, I'm afraid. However, my posting is as sturdy as a rock and, when printed out, has been known to cure minor forms of cancer.

Also, hey, a suggestion! It would be cool, if you gave us a list of fun situations that you think are likely to happen in your game, so that players can pick one and write a sample post with their characters for you to judge! It's more fun than reading through a dozen posts about adventurers' difficult, yet mindnumbingly boring childhoods.

What's that, time for someone to submit a rogue?

    You bet your ass!

This is a guy I've been shopping around, and is an altered version of who I'm playing in real life. I really don't know anything about Eberron, though, so I couldn't tell you if he fits or not.

    ander.png
    Fuckin' sweet picture

    Name: Ander Lazam
    Unaligned Halfling Rogue

    His basic background stuff:
Ander's originally from (INSERT CITY), where he shared the leadership position of a tiny gang with his good pals Dufius Minimus - a fearsome halfling sorceror - and Fai Torr, a dimwitted half-orc barbarian. He left his gang behind when several members were killed by Fai in one of his famous fits of tard rage - even poor Dufius. His leaving hurt Torr's feelings (bad idea with a barbarian), so Ander's been on the run ever since.

Edit: Oh yeah, and I don't really have a pbp post history I'm afraid. I'm a newcomer to it all.

I could pull out an old character for this, an NPC I used in my own home campaign of Eberron: Reynaldo, gnome ranger. He's pretty much a spunky wilderness guide from Zilargo who's "gone native" in either Q'barra or Xen'drik. He's also cheerfully curious about everything, with mannerisms similar to Steve Irwin.

    Fie, Deva Articifer
"I am a RESEARCHER. I am NOT a wizard. How many times do I have to say it! Now get out of my way & let me inspect that."

I've also included some hooks at the end.
    and the myth-weaver sheet:
    http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=142812
(can you tell I'm excited to play in eberron?)

    Personality
"Don't touch that you dolt!" Fie is a researcher. He is obsessed with uncovering the inner workings of the universe, and his personality betrays him, and has a hard time maintaining his social life. (as well as his clothing & appearance). While Deva typically are refined & immaculate, Fie has completely failed at keeping up proper appearances. Not a bad person, but distracted--tends to yell--loses his temper instantly & recovers just as quickly.

    Mannerisms & Appearance
Like all deva, Fie is tall and unearthly. His skin is chalk white, with vertical stripes of deep blue--almost black. His hair is pure white and messy--sticking up in some places--flat in others. He talks mostly about the secrets of the universe--magic, maps, exploration--and when he really gets going, it's hard to make him shut up. He tends toward being rude--but he ignores slights & is never offended. He is impatient--another odd trait in a Deva. One can only speculate what his past lives were like--he doesn't talk about them, except if he remembers something pertinent to his investigations.
Fie smokes a pipe & has a host of nervous habits--tapping his fingers, pushing his reading glasses up his nose (even when they aren't on) and tugging on his own hair.

    Companions & Allies
Fie is a member of Morgrave University--dedicated to exploration & the unearthing of secrets. Whilst most of the members of this University are devoted to one speciality--far off lands, treasures, magic--Fie is enamored of them all, and virtually at the same time. This has earned him rivalry & some admiration--all too often he's decided to get in on a project that someone else has devoted years to, stealing the spotlight & ruining the researchers chances at a proper debut.

In particular, he feels great animosty toward Cullen the Stout--a Dwarven researcher who shattered his initial equilibrium & caused him to forget many details of his past lives. Cullen has no idea that Fie hates him, and instead imagines the two have a tight bond, seeking him out & forcing himself & his tireless tales of adventure, drinking, & women upon him.

    Background
Waking up in the Demon Wastes, with neither weapons nor clothing, Fie knew it all--every life he'd lived--every deed he'd done--every good act, and every selfish one. His memory was clear, & he was all of his incarnations at one. The Deva simply sat where he was, not moving, reliving everything--savoring each experience. He was shocked out of his reverie by the apperance of Morgrave University researcher Cullen the Stout--a loud, hearty dwarf with a proclivity for hands-on learning.

Cullen & his band brought Fie back to Morgrave, but long before he'd arrived, the perils of the open road forced him to confront the immediate reality around him. He lost his precious memories, and dedicated himself to uncovering all the mysteries of the world. He has limited memories of some of his past incarnations--including where they kept their notes & journals--and will do anything to recover his prior knowledge

    HOOKS
--One of his old journals has been found
--One of his past lives was kind of a jerk
    --Anything involving Cullen
--Another researcher tries to set him up for failure
You get the idea... feel free to do anything with his background, it's all yours.

I'm in Bogart's Halls Of Tizun Thane which just ended. I am very active--work from home on the computer full-time for the last 8 years--so it is no problem for me to post regularly. I always hate it when people go AWOL!

    Reynaldo Santor, gnome ranger
"Did you see how it snuck up and pounced on him? What a remarkable specimen!"

    Personality
"That was exciting!" Reynaldo is, for all intents and purposes, addicted to adventure. He loves overturning rocks to see what lies underneath, to track a rare creature across the jungle to witness it in its natural habitat. He's the one always pushing the group onward to the next wonder.
    Mannerisms & Appearance
Reynaldo is the eternal optimist. Even when wading neck deep through the sewers of some ancient ruin, he'll still have a giant grin on his face. When the chips are down, he'll quip up with a, "Don't worry, guys: things'll get better." He's quick to accept others, warmly welcoming them into the group.

The only thing that brings Reynaldo to anger is dishonesty, especially when it is done in bad faith. He'll go hungry to let his friends eat, but lie to him, and he will abandon you to the wolves, sometimes literally.
    Background
An unmarked member of the Santor family, Reynaldo lived a life of service to House Sivis, watching as his marked brothers, sisters, and cousins quickly advanced the ranks past him. In their higher positions, they immediately threw themselves into the political fray that dominated life in Zilargo, oftentimes manipulating their "lessers" as pawns in their machinations.

Annoyed by what he felt added up to petty bickering, Reynaldo distanced himself from his house, finding refuge in lone walks through the expansive parks of Korranberg, keeping his gnomish mind keen by memorizing the names of the native flora and fauna. His love of nature and thirst for exploration led him to the forests of southern Zilargo, where he learned the ways of the wilderness, offering his services as a forest guide in the summer and studying the languages of the ancient empires during his winters back in Korranberg.

Unfortunately, Reynaldo could not escape the politics of Zilargo for long, and he found himself once again drawn into the schemes of his house. Refusing to play their games, Reynaldo quickly found himself ostracized by his peers and was "asked" by operatives of the Trust to leave the country. Glad to be rid of a society he felt was a corruption of his peoples' fey origins, he gathered his meager savings and departed into the world at large in search of adventure.

    Thakakhad, Kalashtar Invoker

    Background:
Thakakhad was always very studious while growing up. He showed a determination that would be unsettling to any non-Kalashtar. His determination turned to a thirst for revenge as he read about the history of his people. Rather than hone his martial or magical skills, Thakakhad searched for power beyond mortal means. He reasoned that with the power of the gods in his hands he would be able to strike at the Dreaming Dark, and even at the Dal Quor. Kalashtar has determined that the best way to prepare himself for the inevitable confrontation is to travel the world at large fighting evil and chaos wherever he finds it.

    Personality:
Thakakhad is very direct in his actions and his dialog. Since leaving the temple-keeps of Adar, he has found it difficult to interact with people. As a way of coping with this isolation, he has become more and more obsessive in his actions. By keeping things just the way he likes them, he, not only, feels a closer connection to home, but also reminds him of why he is traveling.

    Appearance:
Thakakhad is wire thin and short. His pale complexion is slowly turning tan as he spends less time inside the libraries and more time on the road. Likewise, his brown hair is lightening up and he’s getting streaks of blonde. Thakakhad dresses in robes of white to show both his piteous attitude and to lure in some overconfident ne’er-do-wells.

My experience is limited. I'm in this game which has gone no where.

For what it's worth (nothing) this guy gets my vote a million times over.

    Thank you, internet person!
Boo! my HEAVY METAL BARD doesnt have chance? /sadface

@interrobang, that invoker would be an awesome front man for Vik's Band.

I actually wrote a custom class like this a long time ago for a 'Hey, Think of a Cool Class!' thread. And now, now I am going to dump this info like a motherfucker.
    Headbanger.
Role: Defender, probably. Looks Berserker-ish to me.
    Offensive Build: Möshpit Fiend
    Defensive Build: Axe Anti-hero.

How it works: I figure there’ll be two main builds. The Fiend fights offensively, smashing heads in with his Axe. Str the primary stat, Dex a secondary stat for those powers that require him to strum someshit awesome before busting some fucker’s face open like it’s a watermelon. Cha third. He doesn’t wear as much armor as the Anti-Hero, but he makes up for it wearing awesome fucking leather with a good helping of Dex Mod. The Anti-hero’s powers on the other hand are more defensive. He focuses on playing bitchin‘ solos and growling, which somehow magically helps him defensively shit I dunno you said you‘d think of powers yourself. Wait, okay, I think I got it. He purposefully plays a few riffs of the most dreadful, out-of-tune deth metal, accompanied by horrible growling. Enemies – debuffed as fuck. Cool, huh? I‘m thinking Str, Cha, Dex for this fine motherfucker. He‘s got shit Dex, right, so he‘s wearing heavier armor for it. Metal skulls on his kneecaps, a mythril crotchpiece shaped like a demon‘s head. A helmet, that looks like a cross between a motorcycling helmet and a viking one. In other words, kicking fucking rad.

Flavor: Hard-hitting, hard-partying and generally hardcore, the Headbanger wanders the desolate wastes of SETTING on his trusty Mötörbike searching for the Ultimate Heavy Metal Gig. Whether it's bashing in skulls up close or churning out ear-splitting decibels from the relative safety of his improvised stage, the bloody solo he plays on his Axe will leave no audience unimpressed.

An ironic worshipper of the more metal of the evil deities like Bane, Gruumsh and Tiamat, he draws his awesome power from their terrible ire. Most Headbangers try hard to curry favour with the kinder, gentler deities in their off-time, to make sure that when the time comes they get to play that last great gig in the sky, instead of forever moshing in the darkest pits of Hell.
    Class features:
Wail of the Damned: Headbanger emits a demonic roar while throwing the horns at a nearby enemy, scaring the piss out of it. Somewhere in Hell, Asmodeus hiccups.
Metalhead: Headbanger’s forehead is hard as granite and his neck muscles are like those steel cables that hold bridges together.
Been In A Band: Pick whether you played bass or regular. If you were a bassist, you get bonuses to Fiend powers, if you played a guitar, your Anti-Hero powers are more powerful.

    Implement: Axe
A guitar that’s also an axe. Do I fucking need to say more? Do I, punk? I didn’t think so.
    Das Mötörcycle
It’s a magical motorcycle. Sue me.
    Powers:
Ok, I’ll be honest with you. I’m shit at Theorycrafting. I couldn’t tell what power is overpowered or underpowered or not fun if you threatened to feed my balls to a rabid Chihuahua. So I’m just going to post some ideas for the flavor of the powers.
Fade to Black: The headbanger smashes his forehead right into an enemy’s face, causing it to fall back. Hilarity ensues. Most likely a Fiend power.
Iron Man: You play the hardest fucking riff ever while simultaneously bashing someone's brains in. It makes you so fucking pumped you don'feel the pain anymore. Anti-hero.

Enter Sandman: You strum a furious solo on the neck of your Axe, while slowly lifting it above your head like a giant mallet and at the climax smash it unto the nearest enemy‘s head. It‘s dazed as fuck. Night-night, bitch!

Symphony of Destruction: The Headbanger is pissed, man. So very pissed. He takes it out on his Axe and the Axe takes it out on everyone in near vicinity. Nosebleeds and earbleeds galore.

Highway to Hell: You shred your Axe while growling a demonic litany about Asmodeus‘s sexual habits, or Gruumsh‘s relatives or Bane‘s personal hygiene. The sheer demonic hatred hits you, coursing through your body like a high-voltage current of evil. You gain temp hit points and can kick ass even harder.

I would like to point out this was written before there was any info on Brutal Legend.

    Brand, Warforged Druid

    Portrait, by DMAC:
    Brand.jpg

    Background:
In late 964YK, House Cannith deployed several early-model warforged for field trials. It was discovered that this particular batch of warforged were headstrong and displayed a disappointing concern for life - including their own (they would delay combat exercises, demanding to know why they had to fight). The trials were declared a failure; the artificers were sent back to the drawing board and the entire platoon of defective warforged was ordered scrapped. A few were brought back to Cannith workshops for disassembly and dissection; the rest were placed in a magical stupor and dumped in Lake Cyre.

Twenty-nine years later, one of them woke up.

Unit 6227 extricated itself from its sleeping brethren and plodded to shore. With nowhere to go, it randomly turned west and started walking. Along the way, 6227 stumbled into a Cyran military camp, where it was repaired by artificers who assumed that its deteriorated condition was due to battle-damage. 6227 then walked out of the camp and left Cyre forever. It covered many miles and went largely unhindered; most people assumed that it had been separated from its unit and let it go. On the occasions where wary or frightened folk did harass 6227, or when soldiers attempted to press it into service, it eluded pursuit by hiding in wooded areas.

After several months, 6227 reached the Towering Wood in the Eldeen Reaches, and resolved to remain there until it had decided what to do with its existence. Weeks later, in the midst of a storm, 6227 stumbled across a robed shifter, trapped beneath a burning tree. 6227 marched into the blaze, cast aside the flaming brands and rescued her. The shifter identified herself as Saii'ni, a druid who had been observing 6227 since it had entered the woods. A sudden lightning strike had brought the tree down and knocked her senseless; she might have perished if not for 6227's intervention. The two became unlikely companions: the young druid teaching an artificial being about life. Saii'ni refused to use the warforged's designation, however, and called him Brand. After many months working with Saii'ni in the forest, Brand asked its friend to teach it the ways of the druids; she agreed.

Years have passed and Brand - who now considers itself male - feels that he has learned all he can from his friend and mentor. He has struck out on his own, seeking his fortune and his fate and continuing his work beyond The Towering Wood.

    Personality:
Brand has few friends, but treats all living things with respect and cordiality. While generally impassive, he can become quite agitated in the presence of those who do not respect life or who inflict unnecessary harm upon the land.

While thousands of his kind fought and died on the fields of the Last War, Brand spent those decades at the bottom of Lake Cyre. Although he has witnessed the devastation wrought by the war, he never experienced it first-hand, and as such bears no ill-will towards any nation or house. However, Brand's time in the Towering Wood has taught him to hate the aberrations and monsters that sometimes prowl that realm.

I don't have the crunchy part of the character finalized yet, but I can do so if that helps. At any rate, the plan is to go Guardian.

Character sheet now has personality/background stuff. Will be updated appropriately once details about the campaign are posted.

Also, I also vote for a Paragon tier game.

EDIT: Also, I'm currently participating in a PbP Dogs in the Vineyard game and another 4E game (although the DM from that one has been MIA for 5 days and one of the players just got banned), but I can totally handle another campaign.

Here's everything. Hope you like it.

    Iapetus: Dragonborn Cosmic Sorcerer

"None of us can escape the call of the cosmos. Even the vast oceans bow to it's will. None of us may contain it or control it, but can only strive to understand it; and use it if the situation calls."

    Appearance:
Iapetus is a young dragonborn who has spent his whole life studying. For this reason he still has stars in his eyes. (Pun very much intended). He has the same appearance of the typical dragonborn, yet adorned in robes instead of armor. His skin is a rusty bronze. (His face resembles that of a bearded gecko.) His robes are detailed with red-orange on the front and a white-blue on the back, ending in numerous stars at the bottom. His staff has a crescent moon on the top and a star on the bottom.

    Personality:
He looks at the world, not in the now, but in the big picture. This world, his existence, is only a minute occurrence on the cosmic scale. He prefers to stand in the back when talking, only inserting a snarky comment which further shows his immaturity. He takes orders well, but will always let you know that he believes he has a better plan. He feigns experience by acting as if nothing impresses him, when in reality he is extremely naive.

    Background:
Iaptetus has spent most of his life in libraries and his mentor's school. His mentor, Galilei, ran a school of sorcerer's that taught his students of the grandeur of the universe; 63 students in total. Of these 63 Iapetus graduated top in his class, choosing an adventuring life in lieu of a scholarly one. He still enjoys the pursuit of knowledge and seeks out scriptures of the cosmos in any town, but is also well-versed in other literature.

He came to Galilei as a young boy..er, dragon. Constantly ridiculed for being a runt by his peers. Downtrodden, he found his way into the warm grasp of Galilei, who immediately saw promise in the dragonborn. He took him in as his son, for he had no companion for himself. Iapetus adopted many of his ways, including his conceded attitude.

Iapetus was sent of into the world just last year to gain a new perspective on life. But what he really looks for is a new understanding of the cosmos. For that is what his life is...

Looks like competition's pretty stiff for these slots. I just got into the other pbp game I was trying for, so I guess I withdraw my submission.

Er, assuming this was functioning as a sorta-kinda recruitment thread anyway. If not, disregard my stupid face.

I am all over some Ebberon, and all over some Paragon.

Would want to see some idea of what we're to be doing before I settle on a concept though.

Currently I'm running Mining Rites, am playing the Tariff of Relkingham, and previously played in Heathen when that was going, briefly in a Shadowrun game until the person running it had to stop, and similarly with one, I think called The Darkened Past, which similarly the DM had to stop.

Yeah I'm up for paragon too if it's actually an option, if I get in, if this is even happening. It seemed like OP was like "I might be thinking of starting a game" and we were all "Fuck yeah! Here's our character for your game." No middle ground.

I pulled my stuff from the sheet then =P

    Baern Stonefist
    Dwarf Ranger (Silent Hunter background)

    Personality:
Baern is generally always smiling, and refuses to take most things seriously. Because of this, most people generally underestimate his ability in a fight or as a Scout.

He loves a good hearty ale and a rowdy song as much as he enjoys a good fight, and laughs and smiles a mischievous grin even in the most grim situations.

    Appearance:
His beard and hair are both jet-black, while his eyes are a dark brown. His hair is slightly past his shoulders and is bushy, while his beard reaches just past his pectoral muscles and is braided into four parts.

His armor is the skin of a black bear, and matches his hair and beard; massive one-handed hammers hang off each hip, while several smaller hammers hang in loops across his chest.

    Background:
Baern hails from Sarlona, and is a member of Clan Kaer, a clan of Dorann dwarves. As his Clan is constantly at war with the others, all dwarf males are expected to join the military, and so he did. Having been strong, but fairly nimble and stealthy, since birth, he was assigned to the Scout Regiment, a section of the army trained in stealth and underground guerilla combat.

Towards the end of a war with Clan Bar'Dun, Baern's Regiment was deployed to wipe out the enemy's farms (by digging massive, open caverns into the mountainside and using large mirrors to reflect the sunlight, the Dwarves of the Tashana Tundra Highlands are able to grow hearty crops even on hostile mountainsides), and attempt to force a surrender. The operation went smoothly, but when returning to the stronghold of Clan Kaer, the Regiment was attacked by an aberration dwelling under the mountains. Much of the force was wiped out, with only Baern and a few other dwarves being able to escape. Clan Kaer eventually defeated Clan Bar'Dun, but the loss of most of the Scout Regiment was forever felt, as very few dwarves trained in special operations now remained.

Baern retired from active duty but still works with the military on occasion, as he feels most at home in a dark tunnel, with his weapons at his side.

Okay, here's Belix, a Halfling Paladin with the Talenta Plains background, just because the image of a short warrior in plate hacking at enemy's knees is delightful.

    Personality:
Belix is very open and friendly, always willing to make new friends and talk to new people. He has a strong desire to protect those weaker than himself, and will often offer his own food to those in need. He always loves a good joke, and takes few things seriously. Those who have just met him would be surprised to find out he is so pious, since he rarely talks about his faith. He serves all the Sovereign Host, but he finds that most of his prayers go to Dol Arrah, asking for wisdom or justice in his words and deeds.

    Appearance:
Belix is short and not very muscular, though he bears the weight of his armor and weapon without much effort. He has dark brown hair, with long sideburns. His armor is a dark green with red patterns weaving through it. A huge Talenta Sharrash hangs on his back, a wicked sickle blade attached to a simple, flexible pole.

    Background:
Belix grew up on the plains of Talenta, a child of two very different halflings: his father, a powerful member of House Ghallanda who ran an inn on the border with Karrnath, and his mother, a roaming hunter who regularly wandered the wilds with other nomads. They had separated soon after he was born, and shared the responsibility of raising him in their own separate ways. Belix's father would put him to work in his inn, trying to teach him about the role of House Ghallanda in the world and how to appreciate a life of peace; his mother would take him out in the wilderness, hunting down game and chasing off predators using the traditional weapons of the Talenta halflings, extolling the virtues of a life of adventure and danger. As he grew older, Belix grew conflicted about which example he should follow.

One day while working in his father's inn, a haggard group of travelers walked in and collapsed onto the chairs in the main room. There were three men, as well as two women and a small child. As Belix rushed around, trying to give them food and drink, he heard small snippets of conversation. "...keep running...can't go back...you know they'll never..." Belix went to his father, asking if they could help the travelers somehow, but his father said that all they could do was house them for a short time, then send them off to wherever they needed to go. Belix could not convince his father otherwise, and so he could only return to the main room and play with the small child, while the adults continued their worried conversation long into the night.

So after a few hours of rest, the group of travelers rose wearily the next morning and staggered out the door, heading further south into the depths of Talenta. Belix watched them go, feeling sad without fully understanding why.

A little later, another group of travelers came in. They were heavily armed, and wearing the colors of soldiers of Karrnath. They spoke little and gave Belix an evil glare when he asked if they needed anything. They cornered some of the other guests, performing quiet interrogations, asking if a group of refugees had passed through. Belix realized that they were hunting the first group of travelers, and asked his father if there was something they could do to stop the men. His father shrugged, saying that they were only meant to give a safe haven for anyone who came in, no matter what they did once they left. The soldiers headed out, their hands on their weapons, headed off in the same direction as the first travelers.

A few days later, while Belix was out hunting with his mother, they came across a grotesque pile of corpses. All of them had been butchered, clearly not by any animal. Belix recognized one of the bodies as that of the small child, and an agonized cry rose from his lungs. As he tried to rail against this injustice, his mother sighed and moved on from the corpses, leaving them to rot. "You cannot help those who are weak, Belix. In this world, only the strong can enact their will."

Unable to accept his mother's words, Belix made his way out of the plains, a desire for justice burning within his soul. He found a temple to Dol Arrah, and there made a vow to all the Sovereign Host to protect those who could not protect themselves. When he rose before the altar, he knew that his new life, one mixed with both peace and violence, had begun.

As I said before, I'm in The Tariff of Relkingham, playing an Invoker.
