I've recently started to take notice of film's and TV show's scores/soundtracks and have bought a few scores on CD, but I'm trying to cast a wide net here, so I could do with some suggestions.

The scores I already have:
Lords of the Rings Trilgy (The Complete Recordings)
Transformers: The Score
Revenge of the Fallen: The Score
Doctor Who Series 1+2 OST
Doctor Who Series 3 OST
Doctor Who Series 4 OST

It really depends what your into but John Williams has lots of nice sound tracks to his name
John Towner Williams (born February 8, 1932) is an American composer, conductor, and pianist. In a career that spans six decades, Williams has composed many of the most famous film scores in Hollywood history, including Star Wars, Superman, Born on the Fourth of July, the first three Harry Potter movies and all but one of Steven Spielberg's feature films including the Indiana Jones series, Schindler's List, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial and Jaws.

Pirates of the Carribean I like most stuff from. There's a few stinkers in there though. My favourite track ever from all 3 of those scores is "Parlay" from At World's End. Got such a heavy Western vibe to it. Oh! that reminds me, must investigate Ennio Morricone's music

A thousand times this. Check out "The Mission" and of course, Good, Bad, Ugly and Once upon a time in the west

The Rocketeer, if for anything else just the main theme / opening titles.

Specifically on iTunes, it's "The Rocketeer: To the Rescue and End Titles" by the Cincinatti Pops Orchestra. So, not the origional recording per say, but close enough that it still elicits plenty of nostalgia every time I hear it.

Look for the film "Man with a Movie Camera", by Dziga Vertov. It's an absolutely epic silent film, with a rather incredible score. The score has been redone/reimagined several times too, notably by The Cinematic Orchestra, who released an album version (titled the same as the movie is) of it which is excellent.

Alexander Nevsky- It has a score by Prokofiev, one of greatest composers of the 20th century
Battlestar Galactica (New series)- Bear McCreary did a fantastic job on the soundtracks throughout the four seasons
Apollo 13- Unfortunately the soundtrack doesn't have all the orchestral stuff on it, but it's still good
    Sunshine- Fantastic score

Really, though, if you're looking at orchestral movie scores, why not look at real orchestral music which frequently has much more depth than movie scores?
