Man the first time i played it i messed up mission (7?) hard. You know the one where you have to slow down the uber tank with walls. Yeah i did not do any of that. I parked welkin on the base with an engineer on his ass, and proceeded to blow the living crap out of all the turrets on the thing.
What does this mean? Well the tank could not destroy the first base, nor could it destroy welkin, once I crippled its anti infantry fire i was left wondering WTF i was supposed to do as it would never fire its uber gun exposing the radiators. I ended up having to check a guide and realize I needed to suck more to do the mission properly.
Such a wonderful game.

Yeah. P4 is pretty much improved over P3 in almost every way(over-aching story and persona design are arguable though). But P4 lacks Ken and Aigis...so, it wins by default.
Also, the lack of Mass Effect on that list makes me ignore it.
So, I'm pretty confused. Why did Faldio need to sacrifice himself? It was pretty clear with the power shut down that Maximilian was entirely neutralized. All Faldio accomplished was a pointless glorified suicide. If he did it because he didn't want to face Welkin then that was the coward's way out and totally not in keeping with his character.

Depending on Gallia's military law Faldio was likely facing decades in jail. He might have been pardoned given the reasoning behind his actions but still, he did attempt murder; in the anime he also burglarized the national museum, disobeyed direct orders from a superior, and committed kidnapping, and considering it was Cordelia he took he probably could have been shot for treason, although it's almost certain Cordelia would have pardoned him. By dying as a patriot instead he doesn't necessarily clear his name but he does redeem it.

Completely agree. I just finished the game last week and was yelling at the TV for Faldio to just push Max down the hole. I really liked Faldio throughout the game (until the Alicia thing), so I was sad to see him wuss out at the end.
GothicLargo makes a good point about the decades in jail thing; I just personally think that suicide is the cheap way out.

I was going to stop watching the Anime when they completely skipped the battle against the Batomys but I figured I'd give it the benefit of the doubt since that may of been difficult to translate into a full length episode. Then Cordelia took off her clothes at the award ceremony and she wasn't a darcsen? I gave up there.
Though actually I am 99% sure Faldio stole from the museum in the game also. They don't make it explicit but in one of the Writing on the Wall articles it mentions that someone stole a spear and shield replica from the national museum. I'm guessing that was Faldio.
The thing that rubs me the wrong way though is he doesn't really die a patriots death on any serious inspection considering unless sacrificing yourself to kill what was now essentially a prisoner of war can be considered patriotic.

Patriotism is a motivation; the patriot's actions are well-meaning, but that does not necessarily mean that the patriot's actions are right. I did not say that Faldio was a hero.
Although as a complement, patriot usually means "chaotic good", a person for whom the ends justify the means and thus doesn't really qualify as a hero because they leave a trail of destruction along their path to do good.
Why the hell do I have to hit ... a .... button ... after .... every ... sentence? Just fucking talk!
Faldio dies. He takes Max with him. Just about got Welkin and Alicia killed too in the explosion but Leon shows up with Isara's plane. Ok, no more need for spoiler tags.
I played "Vyse and His Groupies* Liberate the World." I think there was a tank involved.
Why? Did I do it wrong...?
*Yes, Ted's a groupie. I can deal with it.
I used Vyse for a while, till he died right before the end of the mission, then got captured, then I didn't really care. He wasn't important enough to restart the battle. Strangely enough, had it been any other character, I would have resetted that shit.

Fair enough and I don't disagree that Faldio is responsible for various actions who's motivations can be described as patriotic that were otherwise frowned upon. However, his final action could really only be considered patriotic in that sense if we concede that Faldio was foolish enough to believe there was a need for him to still deal with Max. Since Faldio is definitely not foolish I can only conclude that the only motivations for his actions were to avoid rotting in prison for the rest of his life and hope that history overlooks the pointlessness of his final act. I can hardly agree to calling such a selfish cowardly move well-meaning or chaotic good. I'd go so far as to say that it was more closely approximating neutral evil if we are using D&D terms.

Max was without power for about... 15 seconds before he died? The guy was psychotic but he was also a megalomaniac. Who's to say he didn't have a hidden way to restart the juice and carry out a valkyur blast?
In the words of Mace Windu... "He's too dangerous to let live."

Well he was at least weak enough to allow a single only moderately athletic man drag him down to death. How do you figure he managed to get power back? I did not see that in the scene at all. I guess the explosion suggests he had some power left in his gear but certainly not full power or he would of invoked a full powered final flame and not the relatively puny explosion that resulted. Faldio couldn't of know that though. As far as he knew Max was completely powerless resultant of his sabotage. If he knew that Max still had some juice left he would of tried harder to get Welkin to evacuate (probably futily) before jumping.
So with that new title for the anime thread, has anyone mentioned that the creators of VC want to expand to a more feminine fan base which was their basis for making VC2 a school RPG, and how they're OFFICIALLY going to release yaoi about a manly sniper and a boyish engineer?

You know, I had mentioned the fact that a VC Yaoi manga (NSFW Link) was coming out alongside the regular VC Manga earlier in the year, then I mentioned both characters appearing in the VC2 game when more screens of the cameo characters came out, and only now it hits. XD

I seriously thought you were gonna respond more violently to the guy who said that he'd restart his game if any of his squad died except for Vyse
Which is doing it so wrong the universe should like invert on itself

You know, I love Vyse... I was with him when he sailed around the world and made himself a Legend.
I tried to use other people to get them some more field experience (Yes, I know it doesn't work that way. Just want to rotate them in and out so they can have some time to relax)

Let me defend myself. I like Vyse, but I liked the rest of my team more. Thing was that I'm working on a backlog challenge, and I didn't want to reinvest the 40 minutes I'd lose for a save I wasn't perfecting. If I go through the game again, I am certain that Vyse will continue to serve well and be cared for more carefully. As of now, he was adding 40 minutes to my backlog that I didn't need.

Yeah, there was a tank once you recruit Zaka.

I find myself disagreeing greatly.
Mechanically P4 is the much superior game
Story-wise P4 had stronger characters, if a weaker story (but one that held together well enough to the end)
Really the only thing P3 was better at was the overarching storyline, and that's debatable, plus negated hardcore by The Answer

Just got this game. It kind of scratches that "Need to play Xcom again" itch. If only it had destructible buildings and it was less Japanesyish.
No, I meant the in-game cutscenes. Thanks for that spoiler. :?
In hindsight and in context of the conversation your post did make it seem like you were getting really annoyed with the all spoiler conversation.
