I'm very very close to writing a check, today. Yes, it is japanese. Yes I swore I'd never own another one.

    But. BUT....

    it sure is purty.

You know damned well that Honda bikes run solid and strong. That says nothing of the fact that the one you linked is a damned pretty bike.

Ah, my uncle has a hybrid and he drove to dinner one night with the radio off and the air on/windows up. When there was a break in conversation it was complete silence. Couldn't hear the road or anything outside at all, it started to make me feel nauseous.

ugh, chase called me this morning to tell me that my payment is 8 days overdue and if its not sent by tomorrow I'll get a late fee. I sent them a certified check two weeks ago, which my bank tells me has never been cashed so I guess it got lost in the mail.

I canceled the check though, and just set up autopay on the account. I also need to move my due date to later in the month because I really can't afford utilities/rent/car payment all due between the 1st and the 5th of every month cuz I aint got that kinda money.

Yea, I have my loan with M+T. Guess who won't let me move the due date?

Rent, utilities, parking and car all before the second paycheck of the month. Fucking sucks.

are you out of college and everything? This sounds like teefs-level "wisdom". "i hate cars, i will never drive a car" kind of thing, but different. I have never known a person to just purchase a new car. Clunkers, beaters and hoopties, sure, but a brand new car? Never.

5-6k isn't really going to get you a good car, and you won't be able to use it as any point of value when trying to buy a newer, nicer car.

95 Infiniti G20T with 60k miles on it. It was a great car for a lot of years. At least until the previously mentioned accident.

Trade in wouldn't have been too bad. The infiniti retained its value well.

Well enough that I was surprised with the size of the check that insurance cut me when it was wrecked.

i have terrible luck with old/used cars and am not mechanically inclined at all. My in-laws are awesome mechanics, but live 2 hours away and I don't want to take advantage of them. We may get a "pre-owned" car to replace the hoopty. Mulling that over.

Uh yeah that's ok if I want a stripped down MX5 for the race track I'll just buy a '97 off craigslist for $4k and rip the guts out of it myself.

It will even have a windshield.....

Besides, why do you strip a car down for weight and then put in ... leather... seats? You could probably add a windshield and almost make up the weight with a racing bucket...

We had the cash available and the financing rate we could get wasn't worth it.

Paying cash isn't a bad idea unless you can get a finance rate lower than putting the money in a 4yr. CD or something... which right now is only like 3%. So if you can get financing for 2.9%, better off financing. But if the best you can do is 5-6%, paying cash is a better plan.
