either of two species of large trees (Hura crepitans and H. polyandra) in the spurge family (Euphorbiaceae). They are among the largest trees of tropical America and are interesting for their pumpkin-shaped seed capsules that explode with a loud report, scattering the seeds. Sandbox trees are sometimes grown as boulevard trees but have disadvantages in their poisonous leaves, bark, and seeds and the explosions of their capsules, which have force enough to injure persons or livestock. H. crepitans is native through most of tropical America; H. polyandra, with white rather than red stamen clusters, is native from Mexico to Costa Rica. It is nearly 30 m (100 feet) tall with a girth of more than 1 m (3.3 feet). The trunk is studded with short, conical prickles. The long-stalked, dark-green leaves cover a round-crowned, high-branching tree. The globose seed capsules, grooved into 15 sections, are 7.6 cm (3 inches) in diameter and were used in colonial British West Indies as sandboxes for blotting ink. Some Mexican groups mix the poisonous latex with sand to stupefy fish.

That sounds fucking hilarious.
Can they survive in a zone 6 climate? Because that is what I call a shade tree.

The Disneyland Hotel has something very much like it in front, at least as far as the spikey trunks go. May be that tree that they have in Madagascar which the one lemure breed is evolved to jump on.

Enjoy the east coast, lad. I'll be here enjoying Ball State.
I can't wait to fucking go back to LA.
The only good thing about being in Kentucky (since this DC trip is just for the weekend) is that I can get laid here. Which is pretty awesome, but when taken in larger context with the rest of my life, I'd still rather be in Los Angeles.

boston pax is that soon? are tickets on sale yet?
I can't miss that, it would be a dramatic failure on my part.
Was looking over an old Phalla I was in, and on the first page was a post by MrBallBaggins. Feels odd knowing that about a week a three months after that post, he was killed in that accident. Funny how, on an internet forum, all you need to do to hear from someone is look far back enough. It's like echoes.

It hasn't hurt so far.
I started to sit to pee to prevent my son from putting his hand in the middle of the stream.
Now it's just comfy.
Depending on what happens, maybe we could drive/train up there together! Whee!

"Yes, they fuck."
I brought it up early and was shamed.
"And sometimes when a man is really lonely, and a woman wants to make $50..."
"RSVP, +1 (bringing my cop friend)"

I love this dropkick murphy's album more than makes any sense to me, period. ever.

The wills of our generation are going to be very strange beasts.
From now on we'll remember: second weekend in January.
