    Hmm I just finished Anchorage

    Now what should I do.

I kind of want to download RTS and start a settlement, protecting it with my Winterized T-51b Power Armor and minigun

I usually carry a pistol because ammo is plentiful, an assault rifle to take care of most "human" type enemies, and a shotgun for any monsters/feral ghouls. I used to carry a sniper rifle too, but I decided to limit myself.

While I never had any problem with the weight limit it is a bit jarring coming from STALKER to Fallout 3.

RTS is pretty awesome, but I feel that it is meant to be played over a character's "career" in the waste. Don't expect to build a large village right off the bat, stuff takes a long time.

Many of the advanced buildings take about 8 or so in game days to build.

It's a good idea to find an easily defensible position, preferably a spot where you would not have to wall off much (a lot of walls seem to lag the hell out of my system). Not only that but walls are expensive and destroyable.

You may want to download the patch that allows you to enable/disable Raider attacks, because they will fuck your village's shit up easy in the beginning.

Also you cannot "retrain" a villager, which sucks because not all the jobs are available at the start so you will probably end up assigning all your villagers to be builders, craftsmen, or searchers. Which means when you get access to the farm and barracks you will not have anyone left to assign. That's why I recommend the 'Sharing and Caring' mod so you can have a villager follow you away from your village so you can "reassign" them (read: murderlize).

In the beginning you will not be able to do much, but once the ball gets rolling your imagination is pretty much the limit when it comes to designing your village.

Let's see... I play with FOOK so a few of these might be unknown to the vanilla types.

    I carry
    M1 for the easy stuff
    Lincoln's for the moderate baddies
Rocket Launcher/Fatman for the heavy enemies
14 mm Sig pistol as my backup piece
Type 76 AR (AK74 basically) for big crowds
At least 10 nuka grenades for the horrifying ghoul packs
    20-30 Frag Grenades
    10-20 mines of various types
And all the chems have weight attached with FOOK

Also then I'd get all those neato alien shooting thingies and a place to repair my power armor.

The end is pretty cool. I may just be overly bitter about missing only one stupid recording. Also, the lack of choice in the quest line rubbed me the wrong way.

Okay, so any tips with FOOK? I downloaded parts 1-3 and the ESP or whatever file thingy, and tried to put them in FOMM, but the game crashes when I load up my save. Do I need to start a new game I guess?
Also, SCC and FOSE, not sure what I did wrong, but the game freaks the fuck out when I try to trade with anyone I ask to follow me. Crazy whooshing menu noise and spazzing cursor, I have to CTRL+ALT+Delete out. :(
Other than that, every mod seems to work great, and MMM was awesome, had some Raiders actually assaulting Megaton when I showed up :D

I'm intensely paranoid about hitting a point of no return and missing a recording.

I sit there every time I'm about to go through a door, checking off every recording in my pipboy against the wiki list on my iPhone. Which incidentally is strapped to my left wrist.

The only one you have to really worry about is the one in waste disposal because you can't get back there, and it is only open during the second quest (where you're blowing up generators). The other 24 are all accessible until you get to the bridge. After that if it isn't on the bridge or in the engineering core you can't get it. Guess which one I don't have! The one in waste disposal. :(

Dang, and I thought I was a pack-ratting preperationists. Off the top of my head, I usually roll with:

    1) Shishkabob for melee and stuff not worthy of wasting ammo on
    2) Pancor Jackhammer/MP7/Ultra SMG depending on what's most plentiful at the moment for close-in work and head-shottin' (EDIT) Or in the case of Point Lookout a .44 Magnum given the plentifulness of ammo
    3) Wattz 2000 Laser Rifle for my mainstay
    4) Fat Man, for obvious reasons (thank goodness for CRAFT)

Although given how plentiful Electron Charge Packs are later in the game in FOOK, and with my use of Broken Steel I tend to find myself most often using

    5) The All-Mighty Tesla Cannon, because why bother with several puny little energy beams when one big honkin' beam does the job so much better?
    6) Dozens and dozens of scrap metals and fission batteries for repairin' loot and makin' mini-nukes that I hardly ever use but must have anyway

All wrapped up in a nice crunchy 85 DR suit of Mk. II Combat Armor.

Unless the mod is brand new and released after April chances are good FOMS will work, I still use it. Updates are good to go too, as long as the update keeps the same name for the .esm and .esp.

FOMS I think is good for getting a "base-line". You may have to fine tweak some things, but your game will probably run fine with whatever FOMS picks.

edit- Plus no matter how new the mod, FOMS still looks to see if there are any conflicts, which can be real handy.

I don't care who you are.. lvl 5 or lvl 30 Deathclaws are terrifying. Finished Zeta and hit 30, decided I would dick around in Old Olney..brought nothing but my double barrell shotgun..got swarmed by three Deathclaws in the sewers, and barely made it out alive. JEEZE...

Speaking of Zeta: RIP Rocky, Rocky II, Rocky III, and Rocky IV. You guys were brave Sentry Drones, and I could of totally made it through that without you, but you took those turret shots like champs.

And finally, is there better armor to use than the Winterized T51-b set? That one does not degrade..so I can't think if better ones.

Decently, at least I think. A lot of stuff is found in stores, and there're a few things that were shuffled into NPC gear lists. Only major balance-regarding change is that Enclave standard-issue gear got a big kick upwards from vanilla.

Also my standard loadout is -

DanWesson PPC .357 Scoped - 357 magnum addon gun
HA 70 Heavy Assault rifle - cause I have to much 8mm du ammo
    Jingweis Shocksword - incase shit
Lincolns repeat - more for memories
M82a - 50 cal sniper rifle, from snipers tools addon pack,
Missile launcher - I play with increased spawns and ghoul rampage
    Plasma Gatling
    Plasma Rifle
PP-2000 SD long - silenced smg that uses custom (calibre compatible) ammo also from the sniper pack
Reservists rifle - uses diff ammo than the M82a.
Skorpion Vz 61 (LS, SI) - silenced smg
Sydneys 10mm "Ultra" SMG (SI) - uses diff ammo than Skorp
The Terrible Shotgun (EC) - my fav shotgun so far, didn't like city killer or Pancor

The armor is from a mod, its basically fancy looking stealth suits with decent stats on them. Requires OA. The helmet is from a talon company merc, it has nice stats (+10% crit rate for example) and looks slick as shit.

I love this game but I've got nothing left to do. I've done all the missions, explored most of the cool places, bought every single DLC, and filled my house with garden gnomes and every peace of flair I could think of to the effect I have no more shelf space. It saddens me to think I don't have much left to do. I also don't see any mods I would like because I don't want to improve the game (already did that with texture packs) I want to add more story content but only Bethesda does that well.

I also solo deathclaws in a crisp suit, sunglasses, and fedora.

Balls, if you're not one of the idiots that makes up 90% of the people who submit custom content you're more than capable of doing decent story stuff and the like once you learn the technical junk, which is the real hard part - once you get past that and plot some shit down you're quite capable of adding new actual content.

It also doesn't have to be ZOMG WORLD-ENDANGERING SECRET SOCIETY IS ON THE MARCH stuff like Bethesda does, even localized shit can be fun. Though there's also nothing wrong with going for a bit of a ZOMG WORLD-ENDANGERING angle.
