The Dan Wesson PPC looks absolutely badass, you need to get a profile pic of it to do it justice. I think I got Clover carrying one. The thing looks and sounds like a beast.

    Jesus Fuck..

    Shit

I don't care who you are.. lvl 5 or lvl 30 Deathclaws are terrifying. Finished Zeta and hit 30, decided I would dick around in Old Olney..brought nothing but my double barrell shotgun..got swarmed by three Deathclaws in the sewers, and barely made it out alive. JEEZE...

Speaking of Zeta: RIP Rocky, Rocky II, Rocky III, and Rocky IV. You guys were brave Sentry Drones, and I could of totally made it through that without you, but you took those turret shots like champs.

And finally, is there better armor to use than the Winterized T51-b set? That one does not degrade..so I can't think if better ones.

How did you get them to follow you? I have the drone control device, but all I could ever do was open the pods.

Why are you dicking around in Old Olney with nothing but a double barrel shotgun?

Seems like piss poor planning yada yada etc something execution.

    I got cocky.

"I'm level 30, fuck those Deathclaws!"

    .. I learned my lesson

Me (level 21) and Fawkes are currently parked in the Old Olney sewers. I thought it would be an easy run in to pick up some Quantum, I had no idea that the place was swarming with Deathclaws. Then I fell into the sewers and now I've gotta fight my way out. And my last save before Onley is pretty far back. I may be in some trouble/will be heavily abusing the quicksave.

Fawkes is definitely saving my ass in there. I'm glad I left Dogmeat at home though, he dies if a Deathclaw so much as looks at him.

I've had some weird glitches since installing Broken Steel. Mostly just graphical twitches, like VATS being red instead of green sometimes and textures popping in and out, but earlier I was in Old Olney and a Deathclaw ran at me and then zoomed up into the air like Superman. Fawkes just stood there pointing his gun at the sky and I couldn't get him to move, even when another Deathclaw tore my face off. At least I hope it was just a glitch and Deathclaws cannot actually fly.

I'd have hated to run the gauntlet of The Pitt, Point Lookout, and Mothership Zeta with a dwindling DR. Or to spend half my time in Broken Steel looting the armor off dead Enclave troopers.

Unfortunately, I've stopped playing for now, and probably won't start again until I get the GoTY edition. However, I did take the following with me:

Lincoln's Repeater (main weapon, usually good enough to pop a Super Mutant's head)
Chinese Assault Rifle (for the ohshitshootshootshoot moments). No, I never got the special version.
Combat Shotgun (usually a followup to the Thorazine Dart Gun)
Silenced 9mm (for the minor stuff)
Dart Gun (too awesome to pass up)
Thorazine Dart Gun (from Better living through chems)

That last one was a little too powerful. One shot makes a humanoid kiss the ground for about 10 seconds. Yes, this includes Behemoths.

Hence why the first thing I did when I started my modded-out run was whip up a no-degrading mod. I like to think that I do enough maintainance on my gear to negate any wear and tear.

Ugh. So apparently a certain program which makes awesome mods run correctly doesn't work well when Fallout is installed under Programs, and you are running Vista. Unfortunately all of my steam games are under the steam folder, which is under programs. I would like to make this work so I can have some awesome textures and what not, so how exactly can I fix this? Can I get steam to reinstall fallout to another area or something? Don't want to uninstall and just find its not going to work anyway.

Also, great OP. Makes choosing mods a breeze! :)

FOMM and I think FOMS also include some kind of archiveinvalidation invalidated if you're having trouble with one specific version.

I originally disregarded it, but whenever I have it activated my game crashes periodically. Originally I thought this might have just been because of some wierd mod combo, but after some testing it is probably the invalidation thing. When its off I can play just fine, but any textures and whatnot from other mods are messed up, but if I play with it on I crash every 5 minutes or so, though the textures are fine during those 5 minutes.

edit: And I have FOMM installed, but I don't see that option.

I had this problem with my non-steam version. Moving the folder out of program files did the trick for fixing my ctd's. I don't think your steam folder has to stay where it's at, but I'm not certain.

Fallout 3 is a fickle mistress. On one computer it will run perfectly fine even with a ton of mods. On another computer with all the same stuff as the first and no mods it runs like crap.

Hopefully they will use Id Tech 5 (or whatever number Rage is) in the next Fallout game. Carmack's engines are always rock solid. Since ID and Bethesda are owned by the same parent company, so maybe they could get a discount on the licensing.

I seem to recall an interview somewhere saying that they had no intentions of dropping gamebryo in the near future because they knew it so well and were continually improving it with each game.

    Bethesda. Bethesda never changes.

I was looking over the cast of Fallout 1 & 2. God damn did they have some great voice actors. Tony freaking Shalhoub, Richard Dean Anderson, Keith David, Jim Cummings, Tress MacNeille, Cree Summer, mother fucking list goes on.

Bethesda needs to stop dumping their money into one fancy actor and instead use it to get talent like the above list.
