I can't go to Arefu anymore. I needed to get Evan King's bobblehead, so I lockpicked his door and, uh, he was in there. He's telling me to leave, but not shooting at me, so I just walked around until I found the Bobblehead. As soon as I took it, he started firing. I ran out.
Unfortunately, I also had Star Paladin Cross with me, and she didn't take kindly to the entire town firing at me. I ran away as fast as I could, hoping she'd not kill anyone. I guess she got Evan, because when I went to the Family to deliver some blood packs, they were all giving me crap for "that shit [you] pulled in Arefu" and Vance said something about how killing Evan was not a good idea.
Oh well, I'm in Broken Steel content by now anyway, not a big deal.
Just kill the fucking night vipers already and be done with it, is it really worth it to walk all that way into Arefu and then back to Meresti Metro? There's way easier ways to make money.
Plus, you know, all the money you get from looting their corpses.

Yeah, I guess there really is no reason for me to want to go back there now that I have the bobblehead.
edit: Oh, I was never delivering blood packs from Arefu to the Family. Is that something that can be done? Every now and then I'd just notice, "Hey, I've got like 20 blood packs, I should offload these for some money." At this point, it's something I no longer need to do.

Depends how you resolve the conflict. If let them live and continue to feed on the innocent of the wasteland, you can give them blood packs for "protection" of Arefu or for money. If you just kill them like the stain on this earth they are, then you really don't have a reason to return unless you want to use it as impromptu storage. :P

There's a Meresti Station vamp who is also a merchant. He has a great selection of ammunition for purchase, in large quantities. This has always been a good enough reason for me to keep the vampires alive. Also, occasionally he actually sells Blood Packs for one bottle cap, which you can buy and turn around and give to Vance for a (very) small profit. Sydney's selection is better, of course, but maybe you haven't done the Stealing Independence quest yet or you killed her for her gun.
Killing the wanna-vamps seemed like the most lucrative approach after doing things the goody-goody way. You get a sword, Vance's coat, lots of supplies and ammo and the satisfaction that these retarded fucks will never blight my world again.
I hate vampires. I think they're dumb and I have no idea why they're in my wastes. In fact, the only thing worse than a vampire is a dude who pretends he's a vampire because he's got rage issues. Remind me again how drinking blood cures primal anger?
They don't have rage issues, something happens to their head like it getting smacked from too many wasteland brawls and they decide eating flesh is just dandy. The problem is the rest of society frowns upon cannibals and instead of becoming inhuman like the bastard families in that one neighborhood they drink blood.
It's like the spider-man thing with powers and responsibility, only spider-man is a cannibal.
It fills my heart with a mixture of joy and awe to type in "Classic" in the Fallout Nexus search window. People have made excellent models for just about every single Fallout 1 and 2 weapon. By far the most impressive is still the Advanced Power Armor. I'm almost surprised Bethesda didn't keep the classic design, as it translates so well to 3D. The new design for Advanced Power Armor Mk II is fair enough, but look at the screenshots and tell me which one is scarier.

First time I ever did the Steal Independence quest, when I got to Sydney and finished talking to her, I barely registered what she said when all the Super Mutant's attacked, she took a rocket in the face and fucking exploded.

Yeah, if you do it too late, then the Mutants start spawning with Missile Launchers (or maybe it's just random). Most of the time, I end up "pre mining" the entry area to take out the Mutants, but the first time I did Stealing Independence, they just had miniguns and assault rifles. I stood in front of Sydney and tanked most of the bullets, because I knew the NPCs were bullet sponges who can't seem to get enough lead. It was difficult trying to rescue Reilly's Rangers, with Brick and Eugene running so far ahead.

I actually did that at level 25... I just stood at the entrance with the Man Opener and.... well the meat was just flying everywhere.
Even got a tri-laser out of it.
It was really hard finding all the mutant blood after that.

First time I did it, I missed the terminal and elevator in the main room, and excuted her in a fit of blind rage when she told me we were taking the long way round. My mother was watching. She just tutted at me.

Did you at least get her terminal password?
First time I don't think I got the password from her, so I ended up doing it the long way (which I didn't mind since you fight a lot of robots so lots of XP/items). I was probably level 20 at the time, and this was before any of the DLC was released.
Second time I did it, I'm pretty sure I killed her for some reason or other, or might of been a SM with a Minigun that got her - but I did get the password, but I somehow missed the big secret elevator thing that was right in fucking front of me.
Third time I ran it, she didn't die and actually went with me. Dumb bitch kept running into my line of fire all the time, until she finally turned hostile on me. Had to put my weapon away for her to go friendly again, then we continued on.
Random Edit:
Oh god, just remembered an awesome bit I had happen to me.
In FOOK2 there's a lot more Captives added to the game, such as Raider Captives (people that got caught by Raiders) and at one point theres a Ghoul Captive. It's in some underground area, in the Sewer Facility building near Grayditch theres a hostile named ghoul. Well FOOK2 adds a bunch of 'Butchered Captives' in there as if he killed them and ate them, and theres also one live 'Raider Captive'. The place is full of traps.
I go in, disable all the traps and kill the ghoul. Go talk to the Captive and release her. Right as she's about to run off I think to myself "Loathing, I really hope I disabled all the traps."
'CLANG'
Apparently missed a bear trap. Captive ran out of the room, turned the corner and hit the bear trap, dying.
The expansions do look pretty sweet. Do they just add on to your save or do you have to do it all over?
Also, any good palces to search for ovens?
All the DLC adds to your existing game, with an appropriate radio message popping up to get you started.
The only DLC that may force you to start over is Broken Steel, but only if you're at the very last moment before the normal end.
Sounds good.
Should I get them all? Or at least what are the essential ones?
Seeing that some raises the level cap do they give new perks too?
edit: also, who's rocksalt? I bumped into him while exploring tepid sewers for survival guide quest and had to shoot him. Seeing that he has a name is he anyone important?

Of all the DLC, Broken Steel is a must. It's got a tremendous amount of content and raises the level cap to 30.
The Pitt and Point Lookout are both excellent. The Pitt is fairly linear, but there is a distinct choice to be made and overall it's a really cool series of quests. Point Lookout is far more open, but is equally excellent.
Operation: Anchorage is mediocre. There's no real quest as such; it's just lots and lots and lots of shooting. The rewards for finishing are good, but overall it's not worth it.
Mothership Zeta has it's moments, but overall is only slightly better than Operation: Anchorage.
In short, get Broken Steel, The Pitt, and Point Lookout.
So it's F3 plus all five DLC packs? What's the price tag? I've got the 360 and the PC version - I'm trying to find the PC CE version still for the hell of it, but if the GoTY version is cheaper then buying all five DLC's for PC seperatly I wouldn't mind picking it up.
Rocksalt is just a random raider who is named for no reason in the Tepid Sewers. He/She (can be either gender) has a key, I believe, but is not essential for any quests.
If you can't find any ovens, you're not playing the game long enough. I found an oven in the first hour after leaving Vault 101. They are everywhere.
Broken Steel may force you to rethink your character build, seeing as the big level 30 perk that you can get is called "Almost Perfect" and brings all of your SPECIAL attributes to 9. It makes all Intense Training (and other attribute boosting perks) obsolete. But it's a long way to level 30. There are a few interesting perks in Broken Steel, but other than Almost Perfect, I generally just use the higher level cap to get Ninja AND Grim Reaper's Stride, and then clean up any Perks that I missed before. I do like Puppies! though. Yes, I know, you're supposed to reload your game if you lose a follower, but having that added cushion (not to mention it doubles Dogmeat's health) is comforting.

Crap. I forgot about that. Oh well, I doubt the three or four perks I spent on intense training matter that much.
Is the pyro perk worth it if I occasionally use the flamer?

I like getting Pyromaniac for the Shishkebab, personally. The Shishkebab is extremely easy to build (you get the blueprints from the aforementioned vampires in Meresti Station, if you don't slaughter them... you can get a Shishkebab within 2 hours of exiting Vault 101) and does a ton of damage for a melee weapon. Pyromaniac is also great for the Firelance alien pistol (which does Fire damage), but the Firelance is a huge pain in the ass to get (since it ONLY comes from a random encounter Firelance event).
15minutes in and I've already encountered at least 2 completely game breaking bugs in Broken Steel. That fucking scribe rothchild tells me he wants to show me a map and then he just goes to sleep or walks around aimlessly forever

Btw, there was an update for to 1.61 on PSN. Anybody know what it's about?
For the vamps, I pretty much killed them by accident. Were they actually any use?
edit: also, fire ants.
And where do I find a pilot light? I want to build a shishkebab and they only thing I don't have is the pilot light.
The update puts all the stuff in place to let you grab the DLC when it comes up.
As for pilot lights, check ovens.
The expansions do look pretty sweet. Do they just add on to your save or do you have to do it all over?

Pretty much any pre-war house, anywhere.

Zeta and Anchorage are still worth buying IMO, but aren't as good as the others. Even if Anchorage is a nice little joke at the expense of NMA.

Depending on things I might as well sell my current copy while it still has value and get GOTY.
It's like $100
I think I'll just buy the DLC alone.

Woo
adding pyromaniac on top of that makes it fucking absurd
ffffff
what would be the point of that
