Question about Alara Block came up in a practice match today. For the constructed league do you choose one deck/sideboard and stick with it throughout the league or can you change decks each match.
I assume it is just honor system if it is just one deck, or are we gonna register our decks? Poor Steven Chu.
So what's the best way to liquidise my Alara cards for future tournies? (missing out on M2010 due to honeymoon) Bots? Trade chat? Anything else?

I definitely wish the auctions were still active. You would get screwed sometimes, but it let you control what you sold and get a fair price for foils and such. Now the auction room is just filled with spam messengers.

Whoa, the auctions weren't always the bastion of retarded spam-bots that they are now?
I might be in the minority but I prefer dealing with bots in the trade room to people generally, the bot can't pull the same shady deals that a person can. It sells stuff for a set price and doesn't change it based on want. The bot can't pull the "Make me an offer" game. Btw 9 out of 10 times the "make me an offer" guy gets the better end of the deal in trades.

Really, the smartest way to make some profit is to check the average bot buy price and sell price and then make an ad offering your wares for a reasonable value between those bounds.
It takes a little longer because most people ARE hesitant to deal with people and prefer the convenience of bots, but as long as you just post simple values (i.e. don't sell 2x Lightning Bolt for 1.75 tix) you should get some folk nibbling at the bait.

The thing I hate with bots though is that whenever I find a good deal, that bot inevitably only has like 4 tickets to trade and wants 40 tickets worth of stuff.

I used to hang out in auction when I was a dealer. You could get good deals both buying and selling. Being the auctioneer was fun too, since you could try to drive up the price of cards by keeping the chatter loose and engaging.
Auctioneers often got gifts, too, if they kept the auction running quickly. It was good times but the bots killed it.

Yep, the auction room used to be a boon for the limited player to convert a few mid-range rares to the tix needed to get into the next event. I always tipped my auctioneer and the lister after a sale. Usually just a foil common, but it usually seemed to be appreciated.

Btw, I've done a couple IRL M10 drafts and the set is great. Blue sucks (but blue always sucks in draft) but the other colors are good. I usually find myself in near mono-white decks (depending on what I open, obviously) and found that blue can be a decent splash. It's so underdrafted that you can find late tempo and pseudo-removal (unsummon and cancel FTW). I drafted an insanely aggressive Wu that had 3 unsummon and 2 cancel, an essence scatter, and a negate and rode the tempo advantage to victory.

Yeah, I'll definitely end up attempting to force Wb/WB the majority of the time, but I think Wu probably is the the strongest archetype due to the sheer quantity of quality fliers and White's resurgence in the removal game.
Also, comedic note RE: Magebane Armor - If you check out the M10 draft simulator at mtgdaily, you'll notice that on average 4 of your opponents will have pulled the Armor du jour.
Alright, got my 6 M10 boosters. Got some stuff that would be helpful for my constructed standard zombie deck ( cemetery reaper, 2 x coat of arms), not so sure about helpful stuff for this league though. I've never played a sealed league / tournament before.

I know what you guys are saying. When I relogged onto my magic account, I found an OSL touney set in my collection. So I go to the auction room, I actually thought I had misremembered the room name. It was always full of people, always going it seemed. Some of my favorite times were being the auctioneer/lister. You'd get some tips, be able to get some good deals, and was generally good times hanging out in there.
The OSL tourney pack (Onslaugh tourney box, 75 cards. Scourge booster, legion booster) dosn't seem to be worth anything. Thinking about just cracking it open. Wonder if theres any cards in there worth anything.

Re: Steel Angel
White/Black is probably your best bet there. You have a metric fuckton of Black removal, combined with a nice amount and variety of soldiers (plus the helpful pair of walls) and fear creatures on your black side being supported by your plainswalker.
That deck is basically screaming for an Armored Ascension on the Palace Guard.
Yo Chaos, y'all seen the rumor on the Salvation board?
Mox Amethyst (3)
Artifact (Rare)
Delve (You may exile any number of cards from your graveyard as you cast this spell. It costs 1 less to cast for each card exiled this way.)
Tap: Add one mana of any color to your mana pool.

Though it's early, seems like my prediction of Delve + Threshold in Zendikar is gaining some traction.

That's just.......beautiful......
Great card design. It would be hard to get it out on the first turn unless you're playing some other crazy free spells. But it would be easy enough to get out on turns 3-4 when most combo decks are going off anyway.
Seems like Serra Angel and Acidic Slime can be put into the group of "common rare" along with Magebane Armor. Seems like every list I see that doesn't have Magebane Armor has those 2 in it. Like Foomy's and mine.

4 of the rares the same. Also got Overrun as well.
Gogo...Serra and Slime are uncommon.
@sanstodo - In typical Forum Nerd hyperbole, one dude claims the card is only marginally better than an Obelisk of Esper (wtf?), while another claims it's clearly broken and fake because they printed Tome Scour and Blazing Inquiry.
Whereas I agree with you that it's a work of pure design beauty. I'm not sure it absolutely HAS to be at rare, but I guess that's an obvious economic decision. (e: assuming it's real, of course.)
double edit: @ Foomy - Due to having clear bombs in Green (Garruk + Overrun) as well as the 4x Entangling Vines which are roughly better than Ice Cage, you might want to investigate a G/W build. Also, another rogue effort might be delving into black for the Mind Rot + Megrim duo, though the critters definitely don't support a black-centric build.

I've never been a big fan of discard, and black just didn't have good creatures for me, so I ruled that out.
I looked at g/w but almost all my G creatures are at 4+ mana, not sure if my white 2/3 drops would be enough to balance that out. but i'll try a deck out.
I think G/U might work though. what do you think of that option?
edit: anyone on right now feel like trying out a few decks with me? need to see how these things play, also good times

From a fundamentals perspective, White is clearly the strongest color. You have strong fliers and a quick foundation of ground troops with Blinding Mage and the Smiths. So I would avoid not playing white.
At the moment, you're essentially just using blue for some card draw and wall of frost. Really, I would probably stick with W/U, but get rid of the 2x Jump which are useless because nearly all your shit flies already. Replace with Mind Control and Mesa Enchantress, who now triggers off of 5 cards (3x Ice Cage, Pacifism, Mind Control). Then side-out the Solemn Offering, as artifacts are not especially prevalent, and main the Rod of Ruin for some additive damage.

Hey, hey, threshold was my idea. So was Bridge from Below effects. I also claim credit if they make it "Threshold X" where X is the number of cards required in graveyard.

But it was my idea to pair it with Delve to create appropriate tension and make cards like Mirror of Fate marginally viable. So pbbbbbbbttttt!

I hath signed up for Pauper, because I have a shitload of commons from way back when that seem like they'd make a good constructed deck. Hopefully we'll figure out our format of how we're playing things?
I had the amusing thought: Pauper deck consisting of nothing but Nim Lashers (1/1, +1/0 for each artifact you control), Whispersilk Cloaks (creature becomes unblockable and has shroud), and assorted artifacts. Basically invincible super-human creatures.
Any suggestions? I almost feel like I should play Black or White, or a combination of both, due to having a Planeswalker in each color.
That's a ridiculous pool, though a little weak in the critter department. I think you could make a great control oriented deck, considering the 2x Planar Cleansing and Dual Planeswalker Action, so I'd probably attempt to make it White/Blue with a black splash for Sign in Blood, Doom Blade, and Lilliana, as Blue has 4 strong fliers (2x Air Elemental, Djinn of Wishes, Illusionary Servant) and solid counter-foundation.

4 drudge skeletons? Lucky bastard. I'd look into doing something with Red. 3 Lava axes plus the Lightning bolt is fairly great direct damage if you can get the mana out. Combing Panic Attack with Trumpet Blast and a lot of creatures could also be pretty powerful. Red/Green even, given the fact you have Howl which then can be followed the turn later by trumpet and panic. You'd be a little short on regular creatures though.
You're definitely playing white, no contest. 2xPlanar Cleansing and Ajani Goldmane makes it must. Armored Ascension is just icing.
For your second color, you can either go blue for the fliers and counters or black for removal and the drudges. Neither of them make a good splash though, with so many double casting costs running about in the spells you'd like, black especially so. You'd have to run 4-5 swamps to power Sign in Blood, Vess and Tutor with any sort of reliability.
Red might make a nice splash with the bolt and the axes, but I'd probably try to keep it two color for consistency, as you have no fixing, and you shouldn't really need the reach.
I'd go with a W/U build, as the blue has better overall card quality compared to the black, though black has the better bombs in Vess and Tutor.

I'd be up for some Two-headed giant with our M10 sealed decks... although I've never played 2HG before...
Has it been decided what format pauper is going to be? I'm not up on anything nearly current but if its extended or classic I'd sign up for it.
You don't have to interact with a wagon in any way that makes you feel uncomfortable.
I assume it is just honor system if it is just one deck, or are we gonna register our decks? Poor Steven Chu.
When exactly will Season 2 begin? edit: Okay the 7th. Took me awhile to find it in that beast of an OP.
So what's the best way to liquidise my Alara cards for future tournies? (missing out on M2010 due to honeymoon) Bots? Trade chat? Anything else?
I'm free from 4 PM central time on
