So my toltaly awesome girlfriend surprised me with a new pair of boat shoes last night.

so now i'm trying to break them in, which brings me to my next question,

Upon using the google, people are saying to get them wet and wear until dry, but i had always believed leather+water=Disaster. Are boat shoes the exception to this rule? should i get them wet? Do i wear socks with them or go barefoot? I'M SO LOST!

As long as these are real boat shoes (like Sperrys) and not a look-alike, yes, they can get wet. After all, they're called boat shoes for a reason. They are made to survive repeated soakings in salt water. They'll eventually get a nice worn look after they've been abused for a while.

Also, never wear them with socks. If you're going for the yacht club look, you have to go 100%. And that means no socks.

Ok good to know about the socks and breaking them in. I had been folding them like Bill gates in those weird windows comercials until now. They're not sprerrys but they seem like nice shoes, i just dont want to fuck them up. But i'll definatly be going sockless now, thanks.
