I'm interested in going to school in Seattle this fall, and want to major in Pharmacology. I've been trying to look up what sort of degree I should be aiming for, but all I'm finding is info on a Pharm.D. program, and other sites saying Pharm.D. is no longer a valid degree. What degree should I be going for? I'm more interested in R&D than retail pharmacy, but will do retail if necessary.
So, questions...
1) Exactly what degree should I be going for?
2) What schools in Seattle offer this degree?
3) Is it worth going to CC and picking up a Pharmacy Technician degree first?
4) Are there any degree-specific grants or whatnot I could apply for?
5) Is it feasible to try to live in Seattle on retail sales wages while going to college? What is the best way to pay for the six(?) years of school I have ahead of me?
where did you read that pharmD is no longer valid
pharmD is a perfectly valid degree and is THE terminal degree in pharmac though if you want to do R&D you could do MS -> phD instead too
pharm tech is worthless unless you want to get experience in a retail pharmacy which some pharmD programs require but come up with a path before you invest your time and money
