Meh, I'll be the one talking loudly to myself in a Kiwi accent, which I suspect isn't too common in Birmingham

I didn't know Clooney had a terrible squint and body odour that would make a dead cod fish blush

Just booked the train. We get in at 12:24 on the Saturday. I trust a red carpet covered with rose petals and a Rolls Royce Silver Ghost will be there to meet us.

I'll add to the OP at some point where me and japan will be, but it will be a coffee shop.

I plan on parking up at the etap and then finding the rest of you using my innate hunting ability. So I'll likely just descend from a rooftop screaming at some point.

    Had a thought.

Does anyone who has actually been out of an evening in the last few years know what pubs these days are like re: dress codes?

Just wondering if jeans and/or trainers will cause problems. Probably not, but people I've been with have been caught out by this back in the day up in Glasgow.

    Black tie is a minimum.
I've never had any problems wearing jeans, t-shirt and trainers in a pub. As long as there isn't a derby going on and you're wearing the opposition's colours you should be ok. Clubs may be a bit fussier.

Jeans and trainers will be fine. We aren't going clubbing.

I will, of course, be in a tuxedo, and I expect no less from the other attending gentlemen.

I thought we had all agreed to dress up as an elaborate parody of a stag/hen's night group, then recreate an episode of Booze Britain?

I'd dug out my baywatch swimsuit and blonde wig just for this occasion.

Asked around at work re: dress codes. Apparently "No trainers" is relatively common, but becomes less so the further you get from Broad Street.

I only own one pair of trainers. I wear them for sport.

I'm sure we'll be fine, as I don't really see anybody here eager to go to a club.

    I may get new boots.

I need new boots anyway. I tend to walk to work in my trainers and change into boots when I get to work for the sole reason that the sole is in danger of detaching and I'm not at all certain they would be up to the distance required to get me home.

Well you lot are all arriving at the trainstation, right? I thought the plan was that Bob would act as bait in a coffee shop while Japan controlled the sniper teams allowing you to be picked off one after another as you emerge into the bleak grey which passes for sunlight in Birmingham.

Or you could join in the coffee extravaganza. And I'll park up at the hotel, and then make my own way towards you. I'll hoot twice like a Screech Owl every seventeen minutes. So when you hear this, if you could respond with three Barn Owl hoots then we'll zero in on one another.

To be honest, I'm sure the table of geeks won't be hard to spot. Spectacles will be much in evidence, as will significant glances towards the entrance every time someone walks in. I will have probably picked up a few autograph hunters in between exiting the train and reaching the Starbucks anyway, so listen out for the sound of swooning women hitting the deck.
