I disagree and my girlfriend would murder me in my sleep if she knew I posted that. It's her favorite movie.
Gamertag: Judas Fn Priest - feel free to add me, I'm down to watch.
I was told to watch this but not the one on Streaming. I was told the translation on that version was terrible.
Speaking of translation:
Delicatessen and A Very Long Engagement are also available.

I wouldn't call it terrible, but I've only watched the Streaming version, so I don't have anything to compare it to. I've also watched my fair share of subtitled films, so I have a high tolerance for butchered translations.

I watched the disc version and my gf said that the subtitles were wrong. Apparently there are two different versions.
I got into to the preview today, I am going to have to also vote for Tokyo Gore Police, my friend was talking about it a lot the other night and said I had to watch it.
Is the UK (along with everywhere else in the world that isn't America) still left in the Netflix dark?
Sorry, Yes. Netflix is currently a USA only thing.
OP is updated. If anyone has any questions or ideas, please speak up.

I have never seen Ong-Bak before, and would love to check it out. Also I'll note that Hopscotch is on Netflix, and anyone who likes classic spy movies should watch it.

can you netflix party even if you're not a netflix subscriber?
if so count me in....
Edit: I fail at everything... for some reason i thought i read somewhere that it only required a gold subscription and a friend with a netflix account.

Oooh, party action w/ Netflix in the next dashboard update, yes please.
Add me to the list, I don't use my instant queue nearly enough, so this could help remedy that.
Film-wise, I have very eclectic tastes, so I'll pretty much watch whatever the rest of the group would be down with.

There is one scene in Ong-Bak, I would love to link it, but since you haven't seen it I won't.
It cost 1 million dollars to shoot this one like 10 minute scene and it's all 1 scene, him literally kicking everyone's ass, with most of it being total contact. Amazing, amazing fight scene.
I don't know what I expected out of Ong-Bak exactly, but I really wasn't entertained in the least when I saw it a couple years back.
O_O
That's like saying you're not entertained the least bit by Game of Death or Chinese Connection by Bruce Lee.
I think the better film by Tony Jaa is The Protector, but Ong-Bak was amazing for choreographed fights as well. Check out this scene I was talking about with The Protector.
This is the scene that cost over a million dollars to film, one whole scene.
Blurgh... Tokyo Gore Police? I tried watching that for a bit like a month ago and it was so... so bad.
I'm not totally into watching that movie either, I can imagine there are plenty of movies on the list that aren't for everybody but I hope there would be at least one that you might enjoy. If not, please feel free to speak up about ones you'd want to see and I'll be happy to add them to the queue.
Also, you don't want to stab Tony Jaa in the side.
He will break every fucking bone in your body.
Looks like he uses a lot of Hapkido. Have you ever watched Fight Quest? Discovery Channel series about two all-american boys that they drop into the home cities for 13 different fighting styles (Hapkido, Pencak Silat, Krav Maga, Wing Tsun), train them for 5 days, and then match them up against black belt/world champions in each fighting style for a three round fight. Yeah, the series is available on Instant Queue, too.

Hrm sounds like ughh Human Weapon. I'll check this out.
Is there a way I can just subscribe to this netflix instant viewing or do I still have to deal with discs?
The lowest price point to get unlimited instant streaming is about $10 a month. It also includes one disc at a time. You don't have to get any discs if you don't want - just don't add anything to your DVD queue. Personally, I've had Netflix for almost a year now and I've only had two disc-based movies. I watch everything via instant streaming and I think I more than get my money's worth.

watch the specific moves he uses to kick people's asses with. simply amazing.
The amount of work and choreographed fighting in this is astounding.
If you didn't like Ong-Bak or this style of shit, you just simply are lost and bland.
That scene is waaaaaaaay more entertaining than anything in Ong-Bak was. I thought at first that you said that scene was from Ong-Bak, I was like "I don't remember anything nearly this fucking awesome."
I just think that style of martial arts, in Ong-Bak anyways, was very boring to watch. That scene from The Protector is very nicely done though.

haha ok, sorry was a little harsh on the posting about your opinion, I was just baffled at first but it seems we were both just misunderstanding each other XD
The action in the protector is really good too. Check it out sometime if you get bored.
I'd be pretty stoked if Netflix offered an instant watch-only subscription rate.
Anymore, I just can't be arsed to go through all the bullshit of loading up a DVD. Sure, instant watch makes you wait to buffer up the film, but at least there's no retarded anti-piracy warnings or unskippable previews.
With DVR and instant watch.. these days, if I have to do something as mundane as putting a piece of plastic in a tray, I spend the entire time wondering why I can't just push a button and download the thing. It's the future of entertainment and I really wish the movie studios would realize this.

$8.99 a month isn't terrible considering the amount of content available. Especially since I'd have to pay about $20 a month to add the same Starz content that Netflix offers to my cable package. As I've said before, I have the lowest rung of service possible to have unlimited streaming and I just don't bother with discs, unless I absolutely want to see something that's only available on disc.
It will take time but I think rental passes like Netflix is doing as well as music services like Rhapsody, Napster, and Zune Marketplace, are helping studios get their feet wet in the strange digital media space. I notice that more and more movies are coming with "Free" Digital Copies; companies are finally realizing that consumers want to use their content in more places than just their living room and those digital copies don't come with anti-piracy ads, disclaimers, or trailers. There's still DRM in place and it takes time to load the movie from disc to disk but I think it's a step in the right direction.
Tom Yum Goong sounds like something I'd order at a thai restaurant
I'd be willing to bet it's a thai name. Speaking of Thai things, I'm going to add the fantastic Thai spaghetti (curry?) western Tears of the Black Tiger to the Movie Night Queue.
It's not actually until TOMORROW (I keep the thread updated pretty well, I think) but if you work some weird ass 24-hour schedule or something, well, shit! There will hopefully be more of these, we have quite a queue to work through.
I'm willing to bet that they would like to have a stream-only account, but I bet their licensing agreement still requires the physical DVDs to be included in the subscription.

Speaking of translation:
Delicatessen and A Very Long Engagement are also available.
Also note that you can pause the movie and your avatar will stand up and do the time out signal.
You can also join in progress.. the movie will stop and wait for the new person coming in to sync
From the same directing duo is The City of Lost Children (which bests Delicatessen.) Both are must see movies, though.
