Judd Apatow presents a Judd Apatow Film by Judd Apatow with friends of Judd Apatow's

so Funny People's out and it's pretty good

Judd Apatow really needs to stop putting his name on every little film, though, he's starting to rub me the wrong way

so talk about Judd Apatow films and Funny People and also other movies in here

personally I thought Funny People was a really interesting turn for Apatow, a lot darker and more mature than the rest of his stuff

as such, it isn't really a comedy so much as a really funny drama, and I feel like the advertising let it down, but I still enjoyed it, and it's always nice to see Adam Sandler actually act

alternatively, if you're now crushing on Aubrey Plaza because of Funny People you can talk about friending the hell out of her here

He can stop putting his name on things when they stop being awesome. In this instance he's being quite helpful considering you don't know what to expect from a movie with Adam Sandler's name on it.

It's usually the studios who like to put the directors name on things and yeah it can get pretty annoying.

This was a pretty great movie regardless even though it was a millennium long. However the length didn't really bother me that much because there was always something interesting going on, unlike Knocked Up.

Leslie Mann has also become my favorite supporting actress/character. Curse you Judd Apatow!

Never really liked Adam Sandler much. The possibility of seeing him die of leukemia is exciting though.

Judd Apatow himself has made nothing but great films

I didn't care for Pineapple Express which had his name on it for some reason, and we all know how I felt about Forgetting Sarah Marshall

Wait why would he not put his name on his films? I mean unless he thinks the film sucks, in which case we go with Alan Smithee(e?), but, like...why not? It's his career. Name recognition matters. This is where his food comes from.

Jonah Hill had some of the best lines in this movie.

Also, anytime Jason Schwartzman was on screen I got all warm and fuzzy inside.

I was suprised that a trailer for funny people actually told the whole plot to the movie, including most of the twists.

it's more that everyone (studios included) will call Pineapple Express or what have you a Judd Apatow film when in reality he just produced it

same thing that bugs me about District 9 being called a Peter Jackson film

The thing I like about Apatow movie trailers is that they rarely give any of the good jokes away, since they usually switch them out for more R rated versions in the film.

It's like if I go to see a movie with M Night Shamoo I always know to expect some sort of Sixth Sense bullshit. It's good to see that a director can deviate from his norm, even somewhat.

Some people who are both (Spielberg, I believe) feel that the film is the director's film, even though the studio clearly owns it. As a game developer, I can see this perspective, like, if a studio makes a game and publishes it through EA or Activision or Ubisoft, it's still "the studio's game" as far as the actual content goes, although it obviously belongs to the publisher in some way or another.

The Producer might have more ownership in a way, but I certainly give more credit to a director of a good movie than the producer.

Also plenty of producers don't get their names thrown out there as much as Apatow's. It seems odd to me.
