so Funny People's out and it's pretty good
Judd Apatow really needs to stop putting his name on every little film, though, he's starting to rub me the wrong way
so talk about Judd Apatow films and Funny People and also other movies in here
personally I thought Funny People was a really interesting turn for Apatow, a lot darker and more mature than the rest of his stuff
as such, it isn't really a comedy so much as a really funny drama, and I feel like the advertising let it down, but I still enjoyed it, and it's always nice to see Adam Sandler actually act
alternatively, if you're now crushing on Aubrey Plaza because of Funny People you can talk about friending the hell out of her here

I didn't know what to expect because of Judd Apatow's name on it!
This was a pretty great movie regardless even though it was a millennium long. However the length didn't really bother me that much because there was always something interesting going on, unlike Knocked Up.
Leslie Mann has also become my favorite supporting actress/character. Curse you Judd Apatow!
e: hi Ten, America says hello
Up was great, by the way, you should go se-
oh
yeah
What spring does with the cherry trees.
I didn't care for Pineapple Express which had his name on it for some reason, and we all know how I felt about Forgetting Sarah Marshall
It's from this video blog on the official movie site!
yaaayyy
man Winstead's cute
wanna cuddle that girl
cuddle her hard
Meissnerd: he's pretty funny in this, and I usually don't like him either
also Jason Schwartzmann is amazing in it
Also, anytime Jason Schwartzman was on screen I got all warm and fuzzy inside.
Because YaYa doesn't understand things.
it's more that everyone (studios included) will call Pineapple Express or what have you a Judd Apatow film when in reality he just produced it
same thing that bugs me about District 9 being called a Peter Jackson film
Uh-oh I accidentally deleted my signature. Uh-oh!!
nooo, when you direct a film it's your film
Most of Apatow's actual work has a serious side to it.
You are dumb.
Uh-oh I accidentally deleted my signature. Uh-oh!!
Wrong, you direct the producer's film. The producer secures funding for the film. The film belongs to who pays for it not who directs it.
See the following: http://forums.penny-arcade.com/showpost.php?p=11109004&postcount=17
Not to this degree.
This is an entirely different beast than 40 year old virgin or knocked up
Uh-oh I accidentally deleted my signature. Uh-oh!!
Dammit, don't rub it in. Two of my most anticipated films of the year and they both get delayed by months.
And yet Transformers fucking 2 gets a simultaneous release. FUCK YOU CINEMA GUYS
Edit: Also hi America, see you next year
Isn't that a good thing though?
It's like if I go to see a movie with M Night Shamoo I always know to expect some sort of Sixth Sense bullshit. It's good to see that a director can deviate from his norm, even somewhat.
no, I know that part
but even for Apatow it's a pretty maudlin movie at times
basically all of George Simmons stand up is the most depressing thing ever
Tasteticle: fine I can get behind that
Blank: I never said he didn't! but Knocked Up and 40 Year Old Virgin can be and are classified as comedies
I wouldn't call Funny People a comedy
YaYa
Some people who are both (Spielberg, I believe) feel that the film is the director's film, even though the studio clearly owns it. As a game developer, I can see this perspective, like, if a studio makes a game and publishes it through EA or Activision or Ubisoft, it's still "the studio's game" as far as the actual content goes, although it obviously belongs to the publisher in some way or another.
The Producer might have more ownership in a way, but I certainly give more credit to a director of a good movie than the producer.
Also plenty of producers don't get their names thrown out there as much as Apatow's. It seems odd to me.

I still have to side with Leslie Mann more than Aubrey Plaza.
David Spade and Patton Oswalt were way funnier than Seth Rogen and Adam Sandler and they don't even get to be in the movie!
Also John C Reilly was there. His head is very big.
Do tell.
What spring does with the cherry trees.
I was crushing on Leslie Mann way before Funny People
Apatow your wife is wonderful, fuck you for marrying her
I heard about that thing.
That was a way cool way of filming those scenes.
