I've got a pair of Sony buds I've had for about 4 years, I'm too frightened to get anything new because these are so damn comfortable and I can get a passable amount of bass out of them.

I collect HeadPhones because I break them on a regular basis... I never know when I'll need a new pair. Not because I don't handle them proper... but more because I listen to music for upwards of 10 hours a day.

@DR: I agree with all that save for Black holes etc sucking. It's definately un-even, but the songs that work on it work so well I'm almost willing to forgive the rest of the album.

I still can't listen to it all that much... but I like it alright :)

I'll need to check out the SA review though, it sounds hilarious.

Ooh, new MUSE single is being played on the radio in about fifteen minutes.

EDIT: I like it. Not on the same level as their older stuff, but its clear they want to break free of that style, and it's still pretty good nonetheless. Strong influences from dance music and a heavy beat, but the guitar's not quite as cool.
unngh, the concept of the album is a little dated, isn't it? "Resistance" and "Uprising"? "They will not destroy us, we will be victorious." There's only so much you can do with this kind of stuff...Nine Inch Nails has been doing it for long enough. "Wah wah, dark oppressive government, people united in grungy music."

Don't get me wrong, I love Muse, but was hoping for a bigger change. Hopefully the rest of the album will be better. Same disappointment with Imogen Heap. I hate it when artists don't develop and change their style, but I guess not everyone minds. It seems like a waste of an awesome opportunity to be in that position and then to just rely on the crutch of a set "style" and not deviate from it, when there's so much aesthetic potential in everyone to push and exceed their normal boundaries.

I rarely listen to lyrics. I'm more interested in how it sounds, so I guess the repetetive concept doesn't really bother me. BTW the only muse albums I own are Absolution and Origin of Symmetry.

my headphones always break by one side going out. for a little while I can twist the jack and they work, and then it just goes out completely. I've only had one good pair break on me because I ripped the jack out while sitting on an airplane and bent it.

but yeah, those skull candy ones don't look that much different. if they're not comfortable for you, then they're not. I didn't mind them, but wouldn't get them again. I'm just waiting to get a nice pair of over-the-ears, and then maybe a nice pair of folding over-the-ears.

ah. well, I'm all about lyrics. most music I enjoy because I enjoy singing it. I guess their sound is a bit different in this one. not as dramatic as, say, Modest Mouse, The Killers, or Radiohead between albums (between some albums). then there's artists like Sufjan Stevens who I don't care if his sound doesn't change much because he's amazing. and Jonathan Coulton, because of the lawlz.

In other news, my guitar teacher sort of asked me to be a/the vocalist for a band he's planning to put together. I've never done any singing before, but aparently I have a 'distinctive' voice.

@tam: well, if that's what you like, its hard to argue with that lol.

@lyrics: For me, the content of the lyrics isn't what bothers me, its how they are presented that can/does. If they just state things like "I hate everything about you" (real song, real lyrics, causes real mental anguish to me, it makes me want to rip my hair out.).

Man the Top Gear Scirocco advert thing was one of the most brilliant things I've seen in quite some time. :D

"The New Scirocco TDI: For People Who Value Their Arms."

Man I'd buy a car with that ad, if I had any money, even if it is a hatchback.

James' last ad was excellent. And not even "HAHAHA how very humourously bad!", I mean it was actually a good ad.

The "crow" was my favorite part though.

Man, James' last ad was just a setup showing a commercial that actually could get on TV in spite of it being pretty lame, for the punchline that was Jeremy's ad.

I really wasn't expecting Clarkson's moping at the end. Nice nature footage, but stupidly melodramatic. Too bad that was the last episode of the season.

Yeah, I dunno if it's meant to be a metaphor for the apparent upcoming TG budget cuts for the next series or what.

Also I'm sure that Aston is great and all but those are some ugly as hell vents on the top of the hood.

EDIT: Also are car advertisements wildly different in Europe in that they never have cars going fast in them like the ad guy said? Last I checked American car commercials were full of professional driver: closed course fast driving as well as towing airplanes or houses around and all sorts of other manly powerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr-type shit.

I started laughing once she posted those- there is such an obvious drop in quality in most of the "cartoony" drawings.

I'm not sure if that's purely because of the manga/anime style or if it goes deeper than that.

Yeah, it's interesting to see how far that girl's gone with the photo-reference, and how far behind her other stuff is. She's still very good at copying, though. I'm sure if she did some work from life, it'd come out looking very nice.

    Humph.

Well. You've put me in the awkward position of having to choose between reading up on Wikipedia to gather enough relevant facts about Twilight to form a decent Twilight-reference based comeback, or getting beaten to within an inch of my life.

It's an obvious choice. I just wish I had medical insurance. D:
