I did enjoy the game, however it had some weird curves to the difficulty (not in terms of challenge, more in terms of bullshit abilities of foes), and a few mechanics that were mostly bullshit in general. The bugs were numerous, and the first DLC was neat but relied too heavily on grinding out crap. It was an interesting setting marred by being rushed out the door.

The best things they did were the mini-game (though it would've been nice to just name the little icons, instead of needing, like, a legend handy on the second monitor) and having loot be player specific to cut down on the loot whoring bullshit. Boss farming was kind of fun, even though some of the tileset repetitiveness got old quickly.

Tooltips man. Damn icons needed tooltips.

I have NO idea where you're getting the loot whoring from. Loot WAS player-instanced.

Durrr, yeah you're right sorry. It threw me that there was a note for improvement in there.

Made it through Chocolate Park last night. Those weird moving pain areas irk me. On the bright side, found a nova gun!

...so do people want to talk about their Hellgate and Mythos characters?

I had a couple of Mythos builds that have turned into my yardsticks for similar characters in other games.

A wizard isn't quite a wizard for me if I can't perform as a human flame thrower running around in nothing but his boxers. Those Pyromancers were seriously strong with the right passives.

HanbitSoft's plan is to give US access to their servers, which has Abyss Chronicles, and they are also working on another content patch that will be better than SH and AC.

Have they said anyting about if we will we be able to log into our 'old' accounts, or would we all be starting from scratch?

Anyone have any interesting builds to share?

I think my favorite was summoner + pure warper. That purple beam was death. Every other build I had was pretty generic.

Course.. making a summoner+warper would probably be impossible(annoying) in singleplayer.. unless you wanted to gimp it by taking other summons, or really enjoyed backpedalling for an hour trying to kill a single mob. Until you got some of the warper skills that is; So few mobs could stand up to a quarter second of purple discotime.

Elite/NM singleplayer summoner is based purely on one question: "what build can kill sydonai in elite NM mode".
If you can't do that, why play the entire game only to get stonewalled at the last boss?

The answer is part warper, and part zerg.
    http://www.hellgatelondon.de/hellgate-charplanner/en-summoner.html?a=000f2b7n&s=2100030010006600043714150410
The above is the build that can do it.
    This build assumes you:
    - Have at least one +3 warper weapon on switch for summoning
    - Have at least one +X elemental drain weapon on switch
    - Have at least one (if not 2 or 3) +1 to all summoner skills armor pieces equipped
    - Are planning on running solo through elite NM mode

It's a colossal bitch to get started, right up up till you get your first +1 carnagor weapon (then it gets easier). There's a lot of early tap-dancing and backtracking needed to survive early encounters, especially versus legendaries. Once you get past say, the british museum (+/- level 15), it gets a lot easier and you settle into a nice leveling rythym.

I recommend using a hive gun with (4x) +5% range upgrades, as that should get your hive gun to a range of 41m (the only summoner gun at that level which can reach the big stationary "grub" boss that has the nasty gigantic area-of-effect spell with a 40m radius). If you don't jump in-out and whittle it down with the 40m gun, you're in for a hell of a time as the area-of-effect nuke from the boss will usually eat your summons before they can even damage the boss beyond its natural regen rate.

I also find the biotox rifle to be my weapon of choice, I think it can have a max of 6 upgrade slots (maybe 7).
It's very easy to use, it auto-targets, it clears boxes/bins etc. with EASE (i'm a destructible environment lover, find most of my best gear from a simple can or box)... and when it's doing toxic, phase, and fire damage from your upgrades, it's a nice help in afflicting bosses with as many side effects as possible (especially phase and ignite).

I don't see why that's the only question.

Not everyone wants to play it on hardmode. They just want to beat it.

EDIT: What I mean is, the question on builds wasn't "Whats the best elite NM builds", it was just about builds.

The dude asked for fun builds, I posted a summoner build for elite/NM.
To beat elite/NM with a summoner, there are some very specific skill levels and choices you have to make in order to be able to do enough DPS against sydonai and tank his kick attacks at the same time.
Sorry if this wasn't fun enough for you, send me a PM with what you consider lots of fun and i'll get a tailor-made build just for you.

I wasn't trying to say you were doing it wrong. I just didn't understand why you stated it like that's the only reason you'd play.

Also I don't really usually buy the whole "you have to do this spec specifically to beat x". Everyone told me my mass skeleton army couldn't farm baal on hell in D2, but I never had a problem with it.

I've read it's item shop'd and or has a subscription plan. If they have or would go the DDO route and charge blocks of cash for the chronicles etc, that'd be a payment scheme I would definitely get behind, but korea etc etc.

Bring it back to the USA, put it on steam, remix the content a bit to use expansion tilesets sometimes throughout the game and charge about $20 for the game as it is now, with $5-$10 for the expansions once every 4 months or so and I'd play again.

That should have been the idea the first time around, but who really knows how Hanbit does business. From the statement it still seems like Namco Bandai have a hand in it, probably just to be the english community peeps. I hope they don't expect to get monthly subs, there are better games out then and now that deserve that money, and Roper Inc. didn't consider that last time.
