I picked this up after a lot of the "shit" went on with flagship, for around $10. Installed it, and patched it, and after coming to terms with the remaining numerous bugs, played for a few days. After that, I still wasn't convinced the game was worth my time, and uninstalled it.
It's one of the few $10 purchases I've made where I feel I didn't get my money's worth. Borderlands has it's fair share of bugs, but the experience is still so much more enjoyable that I've dumped over 50 hours of play time in it.
I'm all for giving a game it's fair chance to prove itself, but after a week if I still haven't found a way to enjoy myself with the game, the game has failed. This isn't even a case of "well that's just your opinion, man" because I love the genre (or combination of genres) and I liked the post-apocalyptic sci-fi meets the rapture setting. There were just too many compromises and bland moments for me.

You have a point, not sure why I worded it that way. I meant to show that I enjoy action RPGs and FPS games, and the post-apocalyptic setting, etc. That was to reinforce my argument for my lack of enjoyment of the game, because I loved their ideas, I just hated their execution.
Don't mean to shit on the thread though, if you guys are enjoying it, or have any suggestions for ways I might get that $10 of enjoyment out of it, by all means I'm open to ideas.
Hey, not every game is for every person. I had a blast with Hellgate, but got bored of Borderlands after about a week.
The real fun in Hellgate, along with most of these styles of games, is the multiplayer, and since you picked it up after the crash and burn you haven't been able to try that out. I'd just suggest checking out the multiplayer when/if the servers come back up.
What sealed the deal with me and Hellgate was deeply late and right before the end. Abyss Chronicles and a little more general polish could have saved FSS from this mess, or at least bought them some more time.
All the ARPGs that have came after Diablo II lacked one key component for me, the epic outnumbered slaughter fests. I got my first sense of that with the Stonehenge content, especially in Necro's Fall if Zombie Summoners spawned in. But it really shined in with Abyss when you walk into a busted up house filled to capacity with varying baddies, whirlwinding and surging nonstop, christ what could have been, yet still might be.
I always bring up the fact that I had two friends that bought lifetime accounts for this when it released.
Not one of my better investments. Though i am somewhat looking forward to this coming out. Kinda like going back to a bad girlfriend "Oh it will be different this time"
I can't see myself playing through all of it again, but I do wish I'd gotten to 50 and hit the final boss of the first DLC while I had the chance.
Can't read the link here at work, but is there any word or hint on if we'd have access to our old accounts again? That could push me towards at least doing the above and giving the Abyss Chronicles a glance, but there's no way I'd bother starting over from level 1 again.

Borderlands did do it better.
The Raid
1. Guns that shoot bees.
2. Swords that emit bees when you hack things in the face.

Which, you know, is still just your opinion, man.
