I guess my questions are as such: What do good snipers aim for? Right on the head? Do they lead? Do they lead a variable amount based on their own latency?
The whole sniping experience feels very inconsistent to me so I pretty much gave up on them. This sucks because it's one less class I ever play. I would love to figure this out but it feels so random to me. You can't reinforce random behavior without looking the fool!

I mostly snap shot and have the best luck doing so
I really wish I had a demo of the swing-a-knife-into-a-crowd-and-kill-no-one moment on Dustbowl a couple weeks back. Seriously, you can't stab shit at 5 fps.
But recording the demo would have slowed the game down further? Then you would be relying on your blind sense of direction and timing.
There should be a way to make Team Fortress look like Dwarf Fortress for those with crap computers or who want to play on phones.

Here are some things I practice when Sniping:
A: Put my back to a wall. Makes it a little harder for the spy to get that back stab
B: Watch for medic beams. When you see someone getting healed, don't shoot them unless you have a fully charged shot and you know you will be hitting their head. Even then, the medic is more of a threat than the shooter so when you see the beam and the heavy being healed, you know the medic cant be far behind. So just hold your shot until you see him and blam!
C: I only aim for the head unless it's a scout or they are on fire. I track my prey meaning if a demo is running to the left side of screen I will have my little dot moving to the left slightly father over than his head. Once his head hits my dot I shoot.
E: It's a must to learn how to shoot unscoped.
F: Getting into pissing contest with the other teams sniper is well, fun, but most of the time it doesn't really help. Kill him a few times then move to a different spot.
G: Use your 'a' and 'd' keys a lot. It will help you from getting sniped while you are zoomed in and it's a quick way to aim left and right.

THOSE ARE MY CRAPPY TIPS RIP ME APART.
Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries!
Also, I am almost ashamed to admit that I've been experimenting with snipering a bit on a pubbie server and found it pretty addicting Next thing you know I'll be running around as a scoot or learning to love the dead ringer instead of serving as medic half or more of the time, and then I'll be one of Those Players.
Another Tip: Medics are a priority target but you don't always have to aim for them. Taking out the heavy hes healing makes it possible for your team to rush in and take down the now undefended medic.
Which is good because medics are annoying when it comes to standing still.
I love sniping. I'm not the best at it but when I get on a roll it's really fun and I do pretty well.
My only real tips are to try and find a spot where the enemy is running non-perpendicular to your shot, and that a charged body shot instant kills a medic
So Ive been charged with a challenge from dbheights fans. I will be taking the dbheights b3 version (the version before all the major.. major changes to stage 3) and tweaking all the exploits and ceiling height and turning it into pl_dbheights_classic.
But I will also continue with changes to the new dbheights_ b5 version (currently running on jobs) and changing the hell out of it like I have been to stage 3. The new b5 "continuation" would also include a new stormy/raining skybox and will include much of the swamp pack. Which leads me to a few questions for everyone:
1.) What is the length for map names (ie will db_heights_classic fit?)
2.) I'm taking suggestions for the new db_heights map (the b5 continuation) name with the major changes (ie such as swamp and rain). I'm looking for something that says cues that its apart of dbheights or maybe even something totally new.
Reflect rocket jumping isn't actually that hard but very unlikely to be useful, since it does a lot of damage and you don't have much control over your angle.
One thing you need to fix is the window heights in 2-1, hey you. You can't crouch jump into the hut with the coffee maker (which when you go right is where the health and ammo are. And you can't crouch jump into the bunker where the old point used to be.

I track onto heads and fire a little to the right of them, being right handed.
What is the obsession with people constantly wanting to do a server switch to the Drama Chamber? DC almost always has worse ping times than Jon's, and the moment alltalk is turned on it gets even worse.
I have a question about how the Pyro airblast works, because it seems weird. Like, instead of reflecting it like you would expect something to be relected by your cone of air, it instead seems to 'suck in' the rocket and fire it back again in the direction you're aiming. Is this the case, or am I imagining things?

Ping times are relative, my ping to the Drama Chamber is always 1/2 to 1/3 that of my ping to Jon's.
Also, the drama chamber has voting enabled, and Arena with 12 people on each side.

By the way, I noticed an amusing quirk with the C&D the other night.. you can sit around spamming the medic key, all the enemies can hear it, but they can't see you!
I don't know why I found it so amusing to just stand around being annoying but at the time I got a kick out of it.

when I have to charge I start missing shots
Only instead of going forward, I went straight up. woops.
I got at least two times as many facestabs as I did backstabs that map, it was pretty amazing.

TURN OFF INSTANT RESPAWN

Please.
Jesus Christ. This is why I don't play many multiplayer shooters.

Yes, it fires projectiles where you aim.
Please please please let blu engies build at the start of the first setup time again.

Jesus. I do pretty well with pyro, but that guy makes me look like a down's baby.

I wouldn't describe much of what that guy does as "easy". Look at his flaregun shots and his melee accuracy. Yes, these are picked clips, but still.
Yeah saying it's doable and quite easy is ridiculous. I'd love to see that video from rak.
Be a good day when people stop putting shitty music in their youtube videos. Then you'd get to watch it!
I'd rather hear the game itself anyway.
