On the last goldrush map yesterday I was playing engineer and some dick was hiding around somewhere at our base and waiting for the engies to leave before blowing up the tele exits, then cloaking again so first I switched to pyro to try and find him and failed, then went C&D spy too and got someone else to go engy. Worked like a charm, and so goddamn satisfying (he was cloaked on the fence)
NINE UBERS. I HAD NINE FUCKING UBERS AND NONE OF THEM KILLED ANYBODY.

Something like this happened to me the other day:
Activate Kritzkrieg on Heavy, Heavy explodes
Swtich to Demoman, Demoman gunned down
Switch to another Demoman, Demoman goes boom
Kritzkrieg expires, I retreat
Medicrage. I have that. So much repressed anger. Everytime a spy stabs me, my right eyelid twitches, and I have to clench my teeth. Then a gray hair appears, part of my colon experiences necrosis, etc etc.
I think I get backstabbed on medic far less than I do on any other class.
I think the ability to be able to contribute (ie, healing someone) without actually watching the fight constantly helps. I do 180's like a madman, which screws up a lot of attempts by spies to kill me.
Really all you can do to prevent it, jump around like a crazy fucker.

I get killed by a lot of spies that I have full perception of. Either I'll twitch as he gets close or I'll get trapped on a corner or something, but the game thinks I should get back-stabbed when I'm staring the son of a bitch in the face. It's infuriating.

My favorite musical instrument is the air-raid siren.

It's even worse on ~300 ping, you notice someone on the kart or your medic get stabbed and turn around to shoot at the spy, yet still get backstabbed as you're staring him straight in the eye.
I fucking hate random drops. They get me so paranoid. Like, I'll go to turn off the game, and then I'm like "what if I'm about to get a hat!?"
Then I turn it off anyway because I don't care that much.
Use the idler, you can (maybe) get hats while you shit, (maybe) get hats when you go out to the store, (maybe) even (maybe) get hats as you make sweet sweet love to a Phillipino cabana boy!
oh I'm totally idling too. But there is no way I am leaving my computer on all the time. And that small space in between when I turn of the game and start up the idler? Prime hat dropping time. lost.
Anywho, back to my other point. I don't think I'd enjoy TF2 if it became a pay for image type game. So be happy for what's there, that you don't have to pay by the month for online pay beyond internet service, and that the servers aren't exactly pubs.
Anyway, I'm doing what I did last time, hanging till I get a hat. Then I'll give it up and be happy with what I got. I don't like it inflating my steam hours since I like to keep a handle on my play time.

This is what I use ($8 shipped US), but it's attached to a headphone cord - I don't think it would work as well with speakers.

Start ubering more snipers. Uber sniper=best uber.
Then I would have to have changed teams.

Teles are kind of important on payload maps.

It's a slight paranoia, not full on, you see
Join the idler club, it's pretty much the official way to find hats because the in-game droprate is bullshit and Valve knows it.
edit theres another
Rare? Unique? NO! everyone should have these cosmetic doodads!
Yeah, why not? Is there like a single good reason at all for them to be one-per-100-hours rare?
P.S. Right now the idler server shows 7,562 players
Guys! Shut up! I smell pay to dress your character mechanics brewing. I so don't want that to happen.
$10 for pyro with no mask ($10 extra to choose the sex)
$25 to mute/amplify the scout

You get free internet? Does that come with being blind?

Here in america we're not paying for bandwith used, just monthly. Atleast for now.

i have it on ctf_sawmill but i can change it
(sawmill looks like a fun ctf map)
it does make for a good koth match though
The irc channel is fairly active, though usually moreso during times of the day when the servers are empty.
