So I'm Pagan, and this weekend my family and extended family have had our Yule celebration (Yule is supposed to be on the 21st, but it's a working day so we generally go for the weekend before). I've been given a necklace with a Rune on it, but I can't identify it and I have no idea what it means. I mean, it's nice and I love it, but I could be walking around with a necklace that says "Shitcock" on it for all I know.
The rune looks like this:
It's not actually that wide, but that's the basic shape. Is there anyone here who can identify it and confirm I am not walking around offering Norse men sexual favours?
Edit: To clarify, the rune may not be Pagan in origin (It's very unlikely that it is, in fact).
Okay, so far we've worked out that it could mean either "willow" or "hazel" if you rotate it 90 degrees one way or the other. I've been digging about in some of my Mum's books on Runes, symbols and alphabets and we've not been able to find it; then again, my Mum says we're looking in the wrong books anyway, and that it'll likely be in something called "Futark" (not sure if the spelling is correct).
Edit: My Mum has identified it as being an Ogham symbol.

There are two similarly looking letters there - one with the 4 lines facing down and another one with them facing up.

Edit: My Mum has identified it as being an Ogham symbol.
It's called "Coll", and the name of the symbol means "Hazel Tree". The phonetic sound is "k".
