Let's Play Way of the Samurai (s07: The 6 Bs 09/18)
I love this game to death. I must have played it a hundred times back when it came out. Once you get a hang of the combat system, and things just *click*, it's immensely satisfying to slice fools up. IMO there hasn't been a better sword-fighting game since the original Bushido Blade.
My favorite weapon was the giant saw. There was a move where you slash your opponent in the shoulder and saw them to the ground. It's awesome.
Yeah they definitely over simplified it too much in WotS2. Even though the awesome quickdraw stances are cool and stuff the new blocking is just too easy..

Yeah, and the way the city was set up, with a "world map" just didn't feel as... natural as wandering around the valley. The new one looks like a return to form, I'm really happy to hear it's being localized, it came out like a year ago in Japan. Better late than never!
I love Way of the Samurai and I can't wait for the 3rd installment. I love the challenge that death brought in this game, it was actually something you wanted to avoid. I was hoping their would be an online mode in 3, where players could wander about the same town, have epic battles and try to take each others swords, but alas... it looks like it isn't meant to be.
My favourite sword in this game is the one handed straight sword that has the same fighting style as Xianghua from Soul Calibur. I remember raging SO hard when I lost it while trying to run from the 100 man melee and getting hung up on the geometry. I'm can almost feel the rage building up in me already from the inevitable deaths sure to come in 3. :x

See, you would have to turn "have epic battles" into "teabag you after they jump you 10 to 1 for your swords" if there was online.
Does anyone know if this or the 2nd game work on PS3? I need to play it now. WOTS3 isn't even set for an EU release.
I have an 80 gig (So it's a Software Emulation model, which I'm pretty sure is what EU ones only got) and the first works fine except that sometimes heads twitch in cutscenes. Like that horror-movie effect twitch. That's the only issue.
It is a very very minor inconvenience.
I've never played the second, but I think I remember hearing about the same thing for it as well.
Ive got a 60GB so it should work but I know theres supposed to be the odd few that have problems. Ive not seen this come into my place of work in a while but if I do Ill probably get it.

It's better if you think of it like a deep fighter like Guilty Gear or something. Once you master the blocking system, things will be come a lot easier.
Slow, steady progress is the name of the game until you get better swords and moves.

Hey nice work! Very few people beat Karibe on their first try. But there is an advantage in keeping him alive for later.
Nice job letting your allies do some grunt work for you. In the larger battles, if a tough enemy is targeting you, run away and attack a different, weaker enemy, or just get some distance. Once you do, you're no longer 'locked' on target and your allies will start attacking. It's sort of like Kung Fu mook logic, your enemies get in 'line' to fight you, but you can shuffle the order to your advantage.
When you go to the blacksmith, you should definitely have one of your swords delivered, either the Rapier or your powered up default sword. Always a good idea.
It looks like you're getting the hang of moving and countering attacking. I think you're over the difficulty hump. If you can defeat Karibe, you can defeat any enemy in the game.
You're actually about halfway through the game at this point, keep it up! And memorize where those health pickups are...
Get Binetsu's Durability worked up so you can use it in the future. I believe it only starts with 1.
One Handed is definitely my favorite style for this game, so I might be a little biased, but it's so awesome. But yeah, if you have the Yen after the Durability up, if you can do it again, fine, if not, just get it delivered. (Actually, check on delivering first to see a price, and then check durability's price to make sure you have enough so you don't get raped by him again. If you can't swing it, then just deliver it. It's definitely not the hardest sword to obtain, but it's a pain trying to get any of them back if you lose one.)
I didn't pay attention to how much Yen you have, so, yeah. I am also entirely too lazy to scan the videos to check.

Goddamn that dude.
I was just trying to be a thief!
But yeah, Karibe is pretty crazy because his attacks are so wild and he's usually packing a lot of power.
Protip: You don't have to put away your sword to kick up items, especially health items.
Kaseius, if you're looking for advice on how to end this particular game. It should be morning of day 2 now. You need to head directly to the Blacksmith because it will be your LAST chance to have a sword delivered or worked on. DON'T talk to the Blacksmith outside the inn, talk to him at his shop. Then...
There are three different factions you can choose to ally with now. Civilians, Akadama and Kourou. Civilian is the easiest, Akadama and Kourou are easy to hard depending how much you've weakened their factions.
Choose wisely. Oh, and one more thing. When the final boss shows up, you DON'T have to fight all his minions. That's an easy way to die. Run STRAIGHT at the mofo and start chopping him up. That will put his peons into "taking a number and getting in line to fight the hero" mode.
Love this game. Just a note, you don't need to ignore Tsubohachi and Suzie at the start to get the 100 man fight or the best ending.
Beating Tsubo at the bridge is a great way to get into the Kurou family, if you aren't an asshole about beating him.
A note though, is that when you have a max stat 50% awase sword, never let them just kill you. Just use the health cheat before it gets too bad. Dishonorable? Yes, but even samurai have to be pragmatic in these trying times(ie. when against the save system).
The one handed swords are preaty fun but the don't do much damage. I'd say have the other one delivered cause it's not too hard to backstab chelsea again to get her blade.
Also you should try abusing R2 more. Tapping it will change targets holding it will put you into free run mode so you don't have to put away and draw your sword.
Bungled the robbery, you're not supposed to get caught! :P
But yeah, I learned that lesson the hard way too.
I'll be interested to see what faction Kaseius decides to go with for the ending.
Oh yeah, I screwed up the robbery, but kind of on purpose. I was just messing around with that playthrough. (I joined Kurou, and tried to do their stuff, forgot what to do at Dusk, so I met with Suzu and went on that mission.) And then I went "Oh, Tesshin, he has a nice sword!"
He destroyed me. I was like
And yeah, the One-Handers are a little weak, but whatever they lack in strength, they make up for with style. 8-)
No, I just haven't gotten around to recording. I'll get to it eventually. It takes so long that I just get lazy with it. Editing, saving, uploading, etc.. ugh!
Well I had some rotten luck. Started playing this recently found an increadible katana, had an unblockable move that did 200 dmg! Well as I was leveling the sword on a run the game locked up when changing areas and I lost my random drop katana.
And...I apologise to Kaseius. I'm not as good as I used to be apparently.
Beat the bridge guys but the old guy who comes into the diner owned me, I had to submit to stay alive. Went into the canyon, fought a random dude, he too handed me ym ass.

I never asked for this!
So seeing the game right now, is it worth importing WotS 3 when the NA version comes out? This looks really good.

Each one of those has at least a dozen health items in them.
Why?
You'll see.

Got a feeling that I'm going to suck at this.

Even a blind samurai could win with those odds.
Maybe?

WE CAN SETTLE FOR MEDIOCRITY!
SO NEW VIDEOS WOULD BE NICE!
