Let's Play Way of the Samurai (s07: The 6 Bs 09/18)
And...I apologise to Kaseius. I'm not as good as I used to be apparently.
Beat the bridge guys but the old guy who comes into the diner owned me, I had to submit to stay alive. Went into the canyon, fought a random dude, he too handed me ym ass.
Yeah, it really is a humbling experience starting again from scratch. Even if you get the controls faster than you would've by being new, there's still the fact that pretty much everybody (aside from the random lackeys) is on par with you (with the Starter Chuyo-To(?)), if not better.
I was amazed when I played it the first two times, because I straight up got murdered both times.

Second time out I found it pays to be agressive. The guy who attacks you at the bar, first run I blocked and dodger a lot and didnt work, second time I went on the offensive and beat him pretty fairly. Im now still in the second run and got that giant guy who runs Kurous sword.
If only Mr. X posted the set while I was sleeping since I let it upload overnight.. Also, since I recorded this late at night, I was probably quiet, tired, and mediocre with the comedy. But you guys just had to have your set..
Durability of swords in this game is ridiculous. I have Tenshin Kurous sword with max durability and the thing has an attack that needs a minimum of FOUR clear durability bars to work, more often than not I end up shattering a durability space.
Gah so close. Yeah you realy have to be carefull about attacks hitting multiple enemies. The charge attack on the ninja swords is actualy realy effective but like what happend with your stab move it will break the sword if your not carefull. Remember one time I went from 3 dur to 0 in one attack in the final fight.
Also thought the Blazblue refrences were kinda funny.
You gave up like you did against the fight against Dojima... and you almost won that one! Just gotta fight with your all, and avoid doing stabby against multiple opponents bunched together, it's not worth it. If you want to do a few runs to improve the durability of your original sword, that may be a good idea as well.

The best way to make money is to do a couple of runs for the old man's family I believe. You'll be rolling in yen.

My spirit has been crushed ever since we played BB the other night, B:L. You were brutal and ruthless. Your name was Alexander the Great! Your Tager was very gigantic..
So, would you guys suggest I play it off-screen for practice and leveling, or would you rather I record what I do if I do something different than we've seen?
Kaseius I admire your samurai spirit, Im already well beyond pissed off with the unskippable scenes of dialogue.
If I was you I'd get either Tenshins sword or a Ninja Power sword then go work for the Kurous, go straight there at the start, defeat their man and you get 50Y, do the next mission you get 50 more, with that you can max out your attack on any sword then get it delivered, go grab a dullsword if you need to OR if youre willing to risk it, run to the exit to the valley and youll leave the game with your current swords.
I thought Tenshins sword was shit at first, too slow and didnt seem to do much but I playe d through one time with it exclusively and especially near the end enemies started dropping items that gave my sword permanent enhancements. By the end it had 30 damage and gave me 700+ life and I had a tonne of moves such that it was a demonic blade of pure punishment and I was invincible. And I think once you've exported a sword to the main menu you can't lose it though you might lose any stats you've boosted on it.
So yeah, get a good sword and play through once and amp it. Ignore defense its worthless though try not to let it get below 0 and instead learn to evade.

I wouldn't say defense is worthless. Just not noticeable until you get it high enough. But by the time I was done playing WotS I had all my main swords maxed anyway.
Yeah but if you get decent at evade which works about as well as block in terms of not working at all against cheap moves, you'll survive. Attack on the other hand...Im using a maxed attack Ninja Power (because apparently 'remove' doesn't mean unequip sword before I start the game it means delete my maxed out fucking god like sword I got from Tenshin) and with max attack I can waste even the Purple Health guys relatively quickly WHILE looking stylish.
Go to the blacksmith and get a sword delivered and it safely leaves the gameworld so even if you die you wont lose it. Once its out of the game I think you cant lose it unless you destroy it when you using it in your next playthroughs.

Unless you happen to have your game lock up and it dosnt reach the game over point. In which case the game reads the sword as destroyed.
Found my cheap sword again. It's named uraotogi. If you see an opponent doing a forward roll attack or a horizontal slash into a throw then thats probly the sword. My only complaint is that the starting neutral triangle move is better than zapper which it turns into when you get into critical health. The 200 dmg throw move is basicly an I win button in the 100 fight.
Also you might want to do another run at the 100 fight and head for the exit in the railroad map afterward. This should net you 250 points and will probly unlock some new tutorials that I actualy found usefull.
Edit: Well it looks like once you skill up on the hammer you will get a throw move of your own. Intrested to see how much punishment it deals.

Man I used to love this game... When it first came out me and my one friend played to the 2 player battle mode alllllll the time. So many memories!
I honestly dont blame him for not wanting to play it much, nostalgia has clouded it like it does most older games. Ive got all but one ending now even the one you have to play the full game twice to get and most of the main characters swords but its a lot more samey than I remember it and the cutscene waiting can make it unbearable.
For each scene its more like 30 seconds of dialog. There's also an option to 'skip' dialog on repeat plays. You basically tell everyone to STFU, and they do.

The 'game' itself is only 1:30 long total.
The 'skip' only works on certain things, why I need to be stopped to see a scene where the Kurous head says he doesnt want to talka bouit it anymore I don't know. Plus money doesnt seem to carry over. Either way I've got a few swords and beefed them up a lot though I seem to not be cutting through people as well as I did last time. I think some of my memories were from the second game as I had a memory of a sweet sword which only left the sheath to strike and instantly returned, think it belonged to the main villain.
In Way of the Samurai, you can get a Ninja sword on hard mode that lets you summon a falcon to attack your enemies. In addition, you can throw shiruken and do numerous unblockable attacks.
There are advantages to sticking with this game.

I did it on hard mode. I think Im just doing part of it wrong because I was largely getting annoyed because the fuckers kept blocking but again I remmeber just having access to a lot better moves and tearing through these guys. I only managed to unlock a few big moves and one of them broke my sword.

I'll try to get something done tonight, but I can't promise anything. We'll see what happens!

Part 4
Part 5
You're making progress though, keep at it!
You had the right idea, always focus on Tamagawa when he shows up. The game ends as soon as you beat him.

Just for you guys who feel like I don't record enough.
It's kinda like seeing Charlie Brown actually manage to kick the football when Lucy is holding it.
I just don't know.

And yes! You left the pass! Hallelujah! Playing it safe is really the way to go until you build up a decent stock of swords.
Congratulations, hopefully there will be many more!

If your sword breaks, you can always take it to Dojima to repair it. IIRC that works everytime.
