A couple more steps in my demo.

    Where we left off.

    Demo10.jpg

    Moving into a new area.

    Demo11.jpg

And another area, where I start to discover that her left leg is getting quite large in my drawing, and tomorrow I will need to fix it. Ideally this issue would have been solved much earlier in the process...however things don't always work out that way. It may have grown on me while rendering or it might have just felt smaller without values around it, but it needs to be fixed...you can't just let it go or you will be making compromises all over the place. Especially when you are learning it is important to correct every mistake you catch.

that's a mechanical pencil and just plain sketchbook paper : o

i'd lovvvveeee to use charcoal but i feel like i'd have to cover every damn thing in my room because whenever i use it i get dust everywhere. : ( if i didn't have to sit by my computer the whole time i'd have grabbed the charcoal in a heartbeat and prooobably used newsprint

Cake, watch the shoulders in your demo. The shoulder on our left needs to come down a little bit I think. Her shoulders are on a slight incline, yours are pretty even though.

Also watch the inside leg. Her thigh bumps up right against the back of the calf at the bend, but you've got a bit of separation between them going on.

I am working on a drawering for this.

I may or may not get to draw this session, but I'll post something I thought was really great reference, for next week's:
    FigurePose.jpg
(I got it off mjranum's DeviantArt page - they've okay'd it for reference, so we're in the clear. :) )

I didn't like the first reference pic, so I did a sketch of NightDragon's reference pic.
    sketch1u.jpg

Spent probably 45 minutes on it.

um, its really great that you are looking to improve yourself by participating in this thread. But why have the attitude of why bother.. You should really start thinking of trying to always make your best drawing.. If you know the face looks bad.. erase it and focus on the body rather than having a bad face. The come back later and draw it correctly

HEY GUYS I ACTUALLY DRAW WHO KNEW

    cakeschool01.jpg

Time: about 2 hours, I started rushing around 1.5 hours

Edit: I have a horrible method that is essentially sight size with a speckling of basic proportions.

Edit 2: Somehow un-tilted the face after redrawing it because the head was too small... hmm.

I really fucked this one up, but at least I tried:

In hindsight it probably would have been a much better idea to have used a different medium than pencil, because I cannot shade with it to save my life.

I won't be putting up any critiques tonight guys, sorry. I will get through everyone before the next one starts though. I just have a lot on my plate to get done before my class tomorrow. I will definitely be using the entire week to do all of these critiques. I had no idea so many people would participate. I was honestly thinking maybe 6 or 7 if I was lucky. I think we have like 20 now.

One thing I am curious about is whether anyone would be interested in alternating between head and figure each week. Or would you guys rather just work on the figure?

I wouldn't mind alternating head and figure. some focusing on the shapes of hands and feet probably wouldn't be a bad thing for most of us, looking over our entries. I know it'd help me.
