So I got thirty dollars of coupon at TRU. Cause I signed up for their reward card thing (which is free) as well. I may go back later and grab a DSi. Hells yes.
How long does that TRU deal go for? I got some shit to do till like 4 but I can grab it around then. And to get the $30 one you just sign up there?
They said it was from 10 to 2. Which, in the EST, gives you two more hours. You may want to call ahead to check.

Happy Batman day everybody! Hope WM still has copies at noon!
Why would Wayne Manor be selling copies of a Batman game? Do you think Bruce Wayne has anything to do with Batman?
Madness!
Everyone knows Batman is really Clark Kent
Have you ever seen them together in the same place? No? Precisely!

I don't have the funds currently to buy the game so I raced up to the local Hollywood Video hoping I wasn't too late to score a rental copy. Turns out the opening person was like 20 minutes late, I thought that was awesome enough because now I knew I would get my hands on a copy.
So she rolls in like 2 minutes after I do, my son and I amble towards the door behind the group of like 10 or so people that got there before us. First guy through the door immediately starts bitching about how long he has been there and how late it was and blah blah blah. I pick up my 360 copy and he gets his PS3, all the while he's bitching and I'm thinking "what's the big deal you have the game?" So she does the whole spiel on him copy-protection etc. and he pays and leaves. I walk up and she takes my license and it's taking a little bit longer than usual, then she motions me towards the door. I stand there confused holding my card going "but... but... I didn't pay"(I know... I'm terrible on the uptake). I walk over there and she says that I don't have to pay and proceeds to let everyone get away with a free rental. The moral of the story? Don't bitch at people that have the power to give you free rentals.
Plus: Batman is awesome and twice as awesome when it's free.
Oh by the way, does the PS3 version have a mandatory hard drive install? I need to know whether to prepare my sandwich before or during.
From what I hear, yes.
Why the hell does the PS3 need to do that kind of crap?
Blu-Ray disks can fit way, way more than DVDs, so it's to cut down load times. It's not really a big deal, you get a big hard drive anyway, and it only takes about 20 minutes tops.
I kinda like having installations being optional to improve load times, not required. Thats just me. If I want to install, I will go use my PC

Can you explain your reasoning for thinking this? Particularly for Batman.

I'd assume that because there's a lot more room for information to be stored on a Blu Ray disc, it takes a bit longer to access it. But I honestly don't really know.

It's moreso that Blu-ray drives run at slower speeds than DVD drives, so they have to install to make the load times not-unbearable (though the load times almost always end up being comparable to or better than 360's load times).
But yeah, it's seriously not a big deal, and doesn't take twenty minutes as he said. The biggest install I've ever seen was MGS4 and Bioshock's, and they take maybe ten minutes, tops.

You are correct sir! Sorry, I was in a jerk mood. It's also apparently 3 minutes for the install.
Can't wait to get home and play this. (On PS3 because the Joker is awesome)
There is one part that is incredibly inventive, because you will think you're XBOX/PS3 has fucked up and died. . .or at least I did and nearly shit my pants. It's a great moment when it happens.

In fairness MGS4 has an install per act, each of them lasts maybe 5 or 6 minutes?
It's a trade off and one of the fundamental design differences between the 360 and the PS3. MSFT went for faster read times and sacrificed capacity, Sony went the opposite way - which they could do because every PS3 system comes with a hard drive. Not so with the 360, especially back when they launched.
Ultimately I prefer Sony's direction, especially after seeing how Mass Effect nearly murdered the optical drive in my 360. Though having to wait for an install to complete after opening a shiny new game can be really tedious, and I definitely think it's contrary to the tradition of consoles being built around the concept of instant gratification.
It's worth dying against Bane at least once. On the game over screen, he breaks your back!
I did that for every character. Just do it on purpose once or twice (if you want to hear the various speeches) since it'll reload the beginning anyway.

That's what I figured when I saw this game announced. Thank god for GameFly and not shelling out 60 bucks anymore for 8 hour games.

Part of me wants to take a video of me playing Arkham Asylum and upload it just to be a dick.
But I won't. Because I'm nice. And because I'm too busy enjoying the game.
