A Serious Man is a story about a jewish dude trying to do the right thing, i guess. Its a little unclear what its about and seems to star a bunch of unknowns, but who cares, its a Coen Brothers movie.
They have made some amazing amazing movies through the years, and looking at the list of films they've directed, i can say that I have not been disappointed with any of them, even Intolerable Cruelty and the ladykillers, which always seems to get razzed compared to their usual stuff.
My favorite is Miller's Crossing. This one is a noir masterpiece about a badass dude playing both sides in a 1920's gang war. whats the rumpus, see. And it also contains this badass scene

though a close second has to be O Brother Where Art Though, which is a little caper type film loosely based on homer's the oddysey. and has some catchy ass tunes

Their most recent films, No Country for Old Men and Burn After Reading did not disappoint, so I have high hopes for their latest.
They also have a tendency to use a stable of cool dudes in a lot of their films, like George clooney and john goodman and john turturro and steve buscemi. its like an older, classier version of the apatow crew.
