If there's anyone bald or maybe has a slightly odd colour about them in the QA or balance teams, watch out, especially if they've got some after-work group thing they want you to come join; they're probably trying to infect you with Tyranid DNA.

Someone without a soul should go over to Vancouver and save Relic.

Grab a chainsaw, face the vile creature and cut him down sooner than he can think.

But before you go Croak - what's the status on the patch schedule? Data balance patches still released together with (certified) code fix patches or can we expect a data patch beforehand?

Regarding multiplayer - I have learned to generally deal with melee-spam as marines against Orks and Nids, but Eldar are just brutal. Once supression is out of the way (via some suicide vehicles or a Warp Spiders), there's no stopping the Banshees. Why, WHY do they have a melee unit that is fast, high damage, supressing, AND can kill tanks? I can't stop the bloody things!
Because they don't have any real AT so instead they get to have super fragile melee units be their anti-tank.

You take out banshees the same way you do any melee blob, only you can't just rush a dread in and win if they have warp spiders.

P.S. horms and sluggas do more damage and horms are faster.

Melee blob that can dissassemble my tanks and dreads. Not fun. Don't even need spiders, unless they are getting suppressed.

Melee blobs taking apart vehicals is hardly new, and as goomba said, if banshees are killing your tanks by themselves, thats your failure to micro the tanks properly, not a problem with banshees.

You think Croak listens to Akira? Space Marines wouldn't have ended up where they are now then would they?

Banshee's are going to have to get a nerf, it's just that it's going to be a part of a nerf to melee in general. Or at least, I hope Relic are planning on fixing melee, and not, I don't know, making it stronger or something.

You know they will. Make melee stronger, I mean. They might not buff it, but they'll probably nerf ranged because ranged sometimes makes itself useful still.

I lost a banshee to a grenade that I ran into what is that there is nothing I can do to dodge it because I have to chase the retreating units and if I juke then I can't overrun and kill them relic fix please

In other news why are sniper rifles so useless these days. I never see them built and when I equip a scout squad with one I generally end up regretting it. I think I would prefer that they split up scout squads as they did the carnifex. T1 scouts have a shotgun/upgrade to nade and later scouts come with infiltrate and good sniper rifles sans grenades.

I just want effective/dangerous snipers (not for eldar though screw you guys).

Luckilly space marines have forgotten every tactic besides "THROW MORE TACS AT IT!".

Also grenades are great banshee counters too, but space marines dont know how to use grenades either so I'm doubly safe.

You know except that sniper rifles come at tier 2 when you are usually facing atleast 2 squads of banshees. Also good luck try to hit any one decent with grenades. Don't even try to say scouts with shotguns counter banshees either.

I'd say yes. Also ignore about 90% of this thread because it's snide posturing and bickering about who's got it the "worst" at the moment.

I won't lie, the multiplayer has serious balance issues and right now isn't what it should be. Aside from everything else Relic promised a faster and more responsive patching process to deal with issues but that hasn't really turned out. I do believe issues will be fixed with time, but I can't say how long that'll be. If it goes as bad as with Company of Heroes, getting a relatively good balance going could take a long time.

On to the good points, and as you've found out, the singleplayer campaign's actually pretty good. The thing is, playing it co-op at a higher difficulty is freaking awesome, and I'd say well worth the price if you can team up with someone regularly to play it with.

At lower level play (i.e. just starting out) in the multiplayer you're not likely to encounter the balance issues as much. Also, hitting up Vent and playing with others from PA will at least help you acoid most of the crap that goes around at the moment.

So in short, if you're buying it, buy it mainly for the singleplayer / co-op for now. Multiplayer balance isn't there yet, and I can't say when it will be. I believe it'll get there eventually, someone below is probably going to make a "LOLRELIC" post saying that's bull, but given the nature of the thread it's hard to discern who's just being facetious for the sake of being self-righteously smug, and who actually has a point.

So, the sniper squad can kill one banshee before the banshees are on the scouts who now have a break down time.

When they were already dead to begin with.

Unless you've wasted power on suppression weapons, waiting to throw the grenade till the banshees are that close means you are going to lose your scout squad 9 times out of 5. And if you can't just right click one of my other squads and have your FoFin' banshees zip over to rape another squad after skirting the scouts and insta-suppressing them I just don't know what to say. But I guess thats not just attack moving so it must be difficult for you bansh - Eldar.

You, uh, do know that guardians have grenades? I've hit melee units about a solid 75% of the time. You don't take out the entire squad, but that grenade in addition to the one banshee down means the banshee squad is either retreating, dead, or both. Do you seriously want me to make a tutorial video on how-to: grenades?

Lets be honest with ourselves for a moment here. Okay?
    You don't really build guardians.
    I don't build scout snipers.

    Doesn't that feel better?

Besides if I'm not retreating the scouts before the horms/sluggas/banshees have come out of the fog/waaghed/FoF-ed I'm going to lose them anyway.

Scouts are the second fastest unit in the game.

And guardians come free with Eldar! Sometimes I even get two or three.

But the grenade, you throw it and hit retreat. If it misses, you learn and lose maybe a scout. If it hits, you fuck them up and they have to retreat. Next time you don't have to retreat because you'll know it hit!

Also people usually don't FoF banshees into melee because it's a pretty huge hit to the damage they do, in turn making them pretty much worthless. It's when you retreat that the FoF/swift movement comes out because people are dicks. And it's okay to do that if the other guy is being a dick. B... building two banshees isn't wrong.

I'm not as bad as tyranids. I'm not.

You missed it it was on sale for 50% off like a week or two ago on steam. (The one you get in the store is also the steam version, just so you know, having the box of the game is pointless.) I enjoy the game and dont regret buying it. I lose all the time in MP though because i cant seem to get in a group that does anything. Heck last night both my team mates actually did nothing, they build 0 units and i guess were AFK the whole game. That was fun. But the single player is fantastic, and co-op, and the MP can be fun in a good group.
