It's depressing that we just can't get an Advance Wars-esque PC Table Top game. I think people still play Blood Bowl 2 with turn-based rounds. You should be able to chat with your opponent and not have such an awkward feeling after you say hurry the fuck up.
If they took it in the spirit of advance wars where you can see a basic interaction with troops/air/vehicles then it'd be p. sweet. But that's putting the financial ramifications and management aside.
I know DoW2 won't be that game, but I still hope to see Space Hulk become another game addon for an expansion. They've already discontinued the plastics, but it's still the same problem with making a game that was formerly created from physical plastic, tears n blood.
This game will only get better with the expansions, it has to. I know that once Chaos, Imperial Guard, and hopefully... Necrons get added they'll have enough unit diversity and content with a great amount of maps with awesome battle missions and campaigns. Relic is a fine wine...yes
The serious stuff, 90% of the time, is really bad. Like, really, really bad.
Relic's stuff is serious; my point now proven.
I don't know, the constant GRIMDARK is pretty funny too. It's all in how you look at it. I laughed my ass off at "METAL BOXES" and other gaffs that were completely 'serious'.
I don't think you guys really understand that 40k started tongue-in-cheek but then decided to get more serious for some reason. It's the serious stuff that's stupid.
Whats that Goomba?
The Eldar should remain flamboyant caricatures of elves?
Well alright. I'll tell my buddies at Relic to get on that.

I prefer that over "Hey these tyranids are attacking a space marine recruiting planet, well, better try to fight the orks, tyranids, and space marines all at the same time!!!!! Just throw more bodies at it!!!"

But in a totally not serious way. It's important to differentiate between the serious and non-serious sci-fi space opera elements.

i am, for the first time since playing CoH and DoW 3 years ago, not losing every single 1v1 game i play. which is kind of nice.
What's your GFWL? If it's OK with you, I'll add you as one of the few other people here that still play this online, maybe we can hook up for a 2v2 sometime.
Probably one of the most important and badass moments in Warhammer 40k, but I can't take it seriously. I mean, its awesome, but I can't take it seriously. We have two opposing warriors who are armored in mobile cathedrals, Dr. Claw 2.0 and Space Jesus. There's looking cool in armor and then there's not being able to see when you look left or right. Dr. Claw is also sporting his fashionable fall look in mink and skulls.

Pretty sure the eldar were manipulating the orks, and ignoring the tyranids.
The way they fought the marines was pretty dumb yeah, vis a vis MORE BODIES, but you know... making the AI play eldar as they ought to be played would A: require the invention of a genuine artificial intelligence, and B: you'd basically have to be Sun-Tzu if you ever wanted to complete the game.

I was thinking more about the fact that they predicted this upcoming Tyranid invasion but couldn't foresee that the Space Marines would be able to help stop it. And even when they were defeated they kept attacking the only guys who looked like they might be able to contain the invasion, just because.
they didnt want the invasion stopped because the farseer had some kind of vision that suggested unless the tyranids acheived victory here it would somehow result in the loss or death of a craftworld.

I thought it was that unless they destroyed life on the planet, the Tyranids would consume it and then follow onwards to one of their craftworlds.

Its possible they wanted the Nids to win quickly so that they would pass ahead of / before a Craftworld got in their path. And attempts to slow down the Nid advance also gave it more biomass so that it was stronger.

Yeah thats more or less the vibe I got from it vis a vis wanting those guys to have a quick victory for some unknowable fates related reason, so it seems kind of sensible to me.
I mean...
They only tried to blow up one world, so I dont think a denial of biomass was their real goal there, I think they wanted the nids to have their feast and move on.
It was basically "Oh no if the tyranids win here all hope is lost because they'll go to Ulthwe eventually and we'll be so screwed." so they tried to destroy the planets instead of attempting to help the space marines which was amazingly retarded.

This brings me to a question I always wanted to ask the warhammer 40k people.
Is Eldar always that retarded? I only have exposure to them in turns of video game, I'm wondering if it's the space marine bias in the video games, or just inherent incompetence.
For a race that can predict the future, they seem to always pick the worse possible option for everybody including themselves.

I always got the impression that the Eldar just misinterpreted the visions. At some point in the game there's a description of the jungle planet that mentions an Eldar craftworld crashed into it thousands of years ago and is hidden under the surface. So I just figured that the Farseer saw dead craftworld and went "OHSHIT ULTHWE!" but it was actually that lost craftworld.
It was basically "Oh no if the tyranids win here all hope is lost because they'll go to Ulthwe eventually and we'll be so screwed." so they tried to destroy the planets instead of attempting to help the space marines which was amazingly retarded.
Of course on the other hand was it really that insane of them to think like... 50 space marines could never, ever, ever defeat a tyranid splinter fleet? Not really, thats a pretty god-damn justifiable belief actually. If the blood ravens hadn't gone all blood raven science to the rescue on the hive fleet they woudnt have had a hope in hell. And the whole looking at things from a logical perspective and then seeking out a scientific solution to the problem isn't exactly the standard SM MO.

The Eldar and Space Marines actually have worked together in the past. Every so often they do cooperate on a limited basis against a larger threat - mostly Necrons, Tyranids and Chaos.
I was thinking more about the fact that they predicted this upcoming Tyranid invasion but couldn't foresee that the Space Marines would be able to help stop it. And even when they were defeated they kept attacking the only guys who looked like they might be able to contain the invasion, just because.
"The Space Marines cannot hold back the invasion armored as they are. We need some way to assist them!"
"I predict they'll kill our avatar. Lets give him some terminator armor to hold on to."
So which race is best now? Is it still every race but Orks?
My experience with Orkz is limited, but they seem to be able to hold their own fine. Not quite sure how to counter an early shuriken / bolter squad though. Stickbommaz have been moved to T2, and I think Stormboyz might be a bit too fleshy to do the job considering they're going to get fired on first all the time. But again, my experience with the side is limited. What were your main issues with the side?

Orks were fucking incredible last patch. They were second strongest after nids.

Say, regarding wave 16
what exactly the difference between you and your clone, stats-wise? I had a plasma shootout with my clone today who was down to less then a third of his health, and somehow still got me.
Their stats are better than yours, not sure by how much but I'd guess around +30%ish.

Fucking bugs! I play co-op for the first time ever with my boy and right at the beginning of the mission I garrison my 2 squads into a building and they won't come out. Nothing happens for 5 minutes while I'm pressing the button to make them leave the building. Finally I figure that just throwing a grenade at it will blow them out, which kills them all completely fucking the stats of the mission so we just had to restart it.
