So I had a conversation with some oldschool Cenarion Circle RPers on a certain anonymous image board the other night. Aside from the surreal nature of running into a rather large number people you are familiar with and hadn't seen for years on a completely different internet site, it was a rather interesting discussion. Conversation eventually got around to the very large number of RPers who either very creepy, ERPers, or both. One of the reasons why I never really got that deep in RP beyond just playing in character, and why I have never really tried it again in an MMO. The people who RP are just so weird. Its a different kind of wierd than the PvPers, who are all just assholes, or the drooling morons who farm honour points in BGs.
I do really miss the days when there was a server community and you actually knew and interacted with people on your server, alliance and horde. No trace of that community exists now, but its definitely something I really miss. Once people realised that the the "RP" designation didn't really mean anything, and the point of the game was farming MC over and over again, interesting things in WoW started to fade really fast.

Oh, definitely. I'm certainly not saying everyone who does is really weird, as I used to RP myself. Back in the early days of WoW, the game world was more like a community of players. I knew the heroes and villains of Cenarion Circle, and they weren't the NPCs or raid bosses (didn't ever raid until at least 2006), but the players themselves.
There were always the drama queens and the self insert wish fulfillment players, though, yeah.
What I did find out was that a large proportion of the RPers that were very well known were into ERP, which is something thats always been weird to me. I don't really judge though, especially given the image board I was having that conversation on.
Back in Vanilla Mal'ganis was a great server. There were top guilds and bottom guilds on both sides. Things changed when transfers opened, we had sooo many top end guilds come in to compete with EJ. Our server went from 5 TF's on Alliance to 10 in a week. Shit hit the fan after that. I don't recognize anyone anymore except people I actually knew and raided with. Most of them xfered away last month

We've had two dragons go insane already, a third is just being lazy and showing a seething hate for the dragons.
When you fight Algalon he says something about partial corruption in the planets life support systems and complete corruption in most of the planets defense mechanisms. I'm pretty sure he was referring to the Aspects, which the Titans created. One is evil, one is dead, one is missing, one is stuck sleeping. The red flight is the only one where their leader isn't fucked somehow. The dragons being fucked is one of the reasons why the Titans would want to just wipe everything and start over.

Uhh which Watchers are you referring to? Not the ones in Ulduar, they're kind of small potatoes compared to the Aspects, or even the Earthen (who just woke up), the Vrykul and the Earth and Storm giants, who were supposed to be the original races.
Actually this whole Cataclysm thing may end up having to do with the Old Gods. The whole reason the Old Gods are still around is because the Titans couldn't kill them without literally destroying the planet, but lo and behold we've been knocking them down left and right.

The Valar couldn't stop Melkor and Gandalf couldn't fight Sauron without potentially destroying Middle Earth, but mere mortals only needed the right guidance to finish Sauron off himself (when the Valar finally had enough of Melkor's shit, Beleriand was sunk into the sea during the battle) When you're literally a god with world shaping power, there's not much to be said for subtlety.

The MMOC forums are terrible. I've never read anything in there that wasn't an e-peen waving, English language raping shitpile. I'm surprised the guy hasn't just nuked the whole thing already.
Diablo 3 is the only thing that might get to quit WoW.
I'm so ready to cancel my account after seeing Arthas die tho. On rereading that leak, I'm not that excited about upcoming content. Unless they seriously revamp the leveling experience.
Contention: Diablo II wasn't fun and none of you enjoyed playing it.
Realistically though, its my least favorite of Blizzard's IPs by a large amount and I really didn't like Diablo II that much. I will probably play D3 though... at least at someone else's house.
