Hello H/A

Wondering if you could help me out with something major. I am looking for a multi protocol messenger that basically supports MSN, AIM, GTalk and IRC. I would love for it to look like IRC though. I really like the IRC interface and the only program I could find was cimcenter (?) but for some reason it wouldn't work on my computer.

If not that, then anything that really is light in hard drive usage and covers at least MSN/AIM at the most.

You could try Digsby or Trillian. Trillian used to be a lot lighter than it is now. I use digsby but it could be better.

I tried digsby and it kept crashing on me. I've also used trillian but kept running into the problem where it wouldn't log me on to all of my accounts at once after a certain period of time.

Are ther IRC clients that support MSN/AIM?

EDIT: Sorry! I mean IRC!! IRC!!

I like the IRC interface! Gosh, talk about screwing up big.

To be honest I had no idea people still used ICQ. The only other multi protocol IM i even begin to trust would be http://www.pidgin.im/

a quick google lists Miranda IM and BeeNut. Looking at screenshots Miranada looks a lot like ICQ to me, at least what I remember.

I meant IRC, not ICQ. Sorry about that!!

I tried Bitlbee, but for some strange reason it wouldn't show me the window I needed to log on. The search continues!

Based on my limited experience, Miranda is one of the more stable options available to you.

Pidgin or Miranda, try 'em both and see what works for you.

I tried both, but didn't like them as much. Sorry, I'm being picky. I'm also still having no luck with the IRC interface type messenger...

    crap.

this will also run irc. as far as light resource usage, my pidgin is currently idling using 0 cpu and just shy of 25k memory.

edit: what is it about the irc interface that you're so attatched to? the look of the window(s)? the functionality?

The look basically. No pictures, not fancy, looks like a bunch of programing on my screen. I just like it for some strange reason. It's simple.

If I could figure out how to use Bitlbee, I'd be set.
