Valve did do more for Left 4 Dead. But since that spun off my point about the ridiculous comment that you'd have to hobble a game on PC in order to make it on par with a console release. If you assume all gamers have supercomputers and that all developers have infinite money, yes. If you look at any released games, no. See: Every game ever produced by Valve. Especially since by this generation graphics across the board are pretty nice looking, and even uniform in the sense that UE3 and such are so popular with developers.
Also, christ "it gets updated on time" is really the bare minimum. Right up there with "on release, it functioned".
You're getting a Valve product which is on par with the PC version in terms of getting updates and DLC. Which is far better than anything Valve has done previously. And the game was huge on the 360, I'm certain they're putting a lot of effort into making it on par in the future.
I don't question that the 360 version of L4D is nice and sold well, that's great. But it's still primary a PC game, just like everything Valve's done so far. They seem to subscribe to that exact mentality from that quote: PC version is the version we love, but we made a decent port down to the 360 in order to make more money.
Dude, that was hilarious. Games need more clever promotions like this. As for the quality, it wasn't Pixar perfect, but this is probably something that one of the animators put together outside of his regular work.
It reminds me of the Christian Bale meltdown, although that was probably part of the joke here.

A smart company would disguise actual hints about the game and gameplay in the video. This is just "haha, remember Christian Bale being a giant ass to that one guy when he was angry, haha." This is barely above the Sam Fisher/Keyboard Cat video Ubi made.

I'm also not sure why, but you seem to be complaining about FREE ENTERTAINMENT from a game you haven't even paid for yet.

Yes. Surely in this discussion forum about games I should not be critical about a company's attempt to win my dollars to play their game.

That excuse is as bad as "IT'S A BETA!"
I thought the video was somewhat funny, then they decided to stick with the long dead and unfunny Bale joke for the entire time so it went from funny to annoying in about five seconds. And if you think the Ubisoft thing was funny, well, uh, yeeeeeeeah.

I think you're taking this too seriously. Lighten up.
I played both the PC and the 360 demos at PAX, it was by far my friend's and my favorite playable game of the show. I've become far more accostomed to keyboard/mouse control with FPS and so I thought the PC version was the better version. I can't wait to delve into the actual game and control what my abilities and weapons are.
I fear it's going to be constantly compared to Fallout 3 which I don't think is fair because if you hated Fallout 3 I still think you may like this game.
The art style is amazing and perfect for the game. If it was more "realistic" I actually think it would look sillier with all the numbers flying around and the other gimicks the game uses.
On an immature note I saw a guy shooting an enemy with a MG and kept doing "69" damage until it died.

It's not about telling you about the gameplay. That's what developer walkthroughs and previews are for
It's about establishing a tone and a style for the game. It's like a story-centric trailer, except instead of being a clip show of cutscenes it's a specially animated short
Plus it introduced us to Steve, the most important character in the game

Well thank you Dev Olivaw for telling me about the purpose of the video clip. I am very enlightened about what I once thought was merely a vehicle to show off some presumably in engine rending and very bad humor. Gosh, are there any other gearbox secrets you can tell me.

So, how does co-op work exactly, or do we know? My buddy wants this game, and I'll pick it up just to have something to co-op with folks. If he's running a game, I can just drop right in whenever, right? Do I enter and take over a character for him, or do I bring my own from my save? If he's using one of the characters, I assume I have to use a different one?

From what they showed at PAX, it looks like your character just kind of pops into his game. Anyone can use any character.

That's the main thing I wonder about. If it's all about levels and gears and stuff, I wonder if I'll drop into his game and play with HIS version of the character, or pull my character from my save file (ala Diablo 2.)

I'm fairly certain you use your character. Everything you do is persistent across single and multi, whether or not you host.

Also, do they really generate the creatures the same way as the guns? That could make for some fun encounters.
