What is Isle of the Winds?
It's a "Custom Quest" for Zelda Classic.
OK Smart-alac. What's Zelda Classic?
Well, very well then.
Zelda Classic started out as a DOS remake of Zelda 1. However, then a "quest editor" was added. Which allowed for one to make their own overworld and levels. This evolved until the editor was an elaborate Zelda game making engine.
Isle of the Winds is one of these games made in this engine, and one of the better ones if you ask me.
So you're LPing a Zelda fangame.
Yup!
OK, so what's this about?
Well, if you couldn't guess from the name. Isle of the Winds is based off Wind Waker in concept. Lots of islands seperated by ocean. Of course, this game is a lot more packed. Every single screen has something in it. It's pretty fun and rather non linear. Once you beat the first dungeon the world opens up to you and you can go wherever you want.
This sounds pretty cool. Where can I procure this "Zelda Classic" and quests?
Excellent question!
This is the Zelda Classic official site
Here you can download the latest version of Zelda Classic. I recomend picking up some of the earlier versions as well, for better compatibility with the older quests.
Also, there's
Pure ZC,
A masive database of quests, it's pretty much the best place to actually pick up all the Quests and stuff.
Also, if you're interested in making your own quest, it has a ton of tilesets, sounds, music, and everything you'd need!
So now what?
We start!
We start the game on Town Island. It is, as the name suggests, a town. It's the only bastion of civilization upon this godforsaken island chain.
Link realizes he forgot something, and heads back to his place. Basically like in Zelda 1, we head to the first place visible.
I thought I'd get it out and have it ready for you when you got back. I know you want to explore the forbidden cave below us because of the dreams you've been having recently. You know I don't like it when you leave for adventures. I always wonder if you'll be returning home safely... Please be careful, no one has explored the forbidden cave for the longest time. No one knows what is in there. Take your sword and hurry home. I just hope your dreams don't portend an ill fate as you claimed they would. Good Luck big brother.
We have a pointy object now!
a
Aryll pretty much serves as one of the two sources of plot throughout the game. Deep cutscenes are not Zelda Classic's Forte.
Resting in bed fully restores our Hearts.
Time to begin cutting all grass! MONEY AND HEARTS NEEDED.
We pick up some bombs and magic from the neighbors.
Bombs are well, bombs. Useful both for blowing up troublesome walls and delivering a powerful blow to enemies. Magic lets me use items which drain the magic meter. I'll point them out when I get them.
Oh look, a Peice of Heart. It's out of reach right now. Sadly.
Windmill! Let's go inside and see what cool stuff is here!
....laaammmmee.
Entering this little shop in the corner of town...
Oh hey this is some cool stuff, let's see how much it costs.
...OK, so they're not selling right now.
Jerk.
The southern shore of town has a few octoroks, nothing threatening
LETS PLAY MONEY MAKING GAME
Wait let's
not
Link has always been disturbed by this skull just sitting here. Nothing he does breaks it though.
This shop
is open. But since we have all of four ruppes to our name, we can't afford anything.
A cookie to whoever can guess what the Triforce on the ground means.
And here it is, the forbidden cave!
Are we ready to go in?
Nope!
First I need to make another update.
Next update: We explore the forbidden cave!

The first dungeon. It exists to get you used to the style of the game. If you can't guess already, the dungeons are all named for, and designed after, the signs of the Zodiac.
Hmmm... that statue on the right. Its eye follows you, the other statue dosn't.
Hidden staircase! It took me a while to notice this secret at first. You have to pay attention.
And we've found our first key! Key's are used to open unlocked doors. After which they promptly melt due to the shame of being used.
How many noticed the cracked wall before I pointed it out.
Not much to say about this room, it has enemies and a wall that can be blown up. Moving on to the next room.
A chest! These chests contain glorious, glorious treasure.
Like another key! With this, we don't have anything else to do, so we head back up to the enterance and open that locked door.
In this room we see four doors, three we can reach. One is the path to that chest over there.
Pressing forward, we find that this room has a sealed door. Troublesome.
Luckily, killing everything in the room sates the Blood God so he unlocks it for us.
Sadly, not enough blood. Because we hit a dead end.
So we head back to the room with the sealed door, take a right this time...
And hit another dead end. Geez.
We head back to the room after the entrance, taking a left this time, we end up in the room which we got our first key. Only on the other side of the gap, so we move north.
We end up in this room.
Which has another key in it, hooray!
The room ahead has is interesting. A locked door, but no way to reach it.
Plus, a bombable wall.
Hey, this room again! We're on the other side now!
Also, I accidentally used two bombs.
With no bombs, there's no bombing that cracked looking block over there.
On the bright side, the Blood God is pleased with our slaughter.
Heading back, I take the right door this time. Completely unremarkable really.
Well, except for the bombs hidden under those pots. Those will come in handy.
Beyond the locked door is this room. Notice the key I can't reach at all. Also notice the staircase!
The stairs lead here. This room exists only for the stairs.
SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE
(Oh yeah also bombs under the pots.)
Behold!
A block puzzle.
This one is... simple. For fun in this LP when block puzzles show up, I'll just show the puzzle, and it solved. See if you can guess how it's done!
Not this one though. It's... too obvious.
Inside the next room is...
DODONGOS!
The midboss of this dungeon, they're as devious to kill as ever.
Once I defeat them, I receive the bow! The Bow lets you do a powerful ranged attack at the cost of one rupee. However, you need to find the Arrow first. It's somewhere in this level, but if you're incompetent you could buy it at the local shop.
Since we have bombs again, I head back and destroy that block.
The staircase leads to a locked door and the locked door leads to that treasure chest we spotted earlier.
I am most definitely not incompetent.
Shooting statues in the eye gives you things. Like keys!
I wonder if it's safe to use explosives in underground caverns.
Who cares, it gets me treasure! In this case, the dungeon map.
In the corner of the menu, we see the whole map. In the center, however, we just see where we've been. This is useful, you can compare the whole map to what you've seen to figure out where to go next.
Darn. Out of bombs.
Wait.
I have money!
Thank you Free Market. Allowing children to buy demolition level explosives!
Sweet! A key! Hey... I bet if I shoot this statue with an arrow, I'll be able to reach that locked door!
...........
OK I admit it. I'm incompetent.
I move around the entire dungeon and head up that locked door.
I see two spots to bomb. One looks important, guarded by a Trap.
So I blow it up and head down it first.
The Ocarina!
With this, I can warp to any dungeon I've beaten. Also, by playing it in some places I'll cause mysterious things to happen.
Like this.
This room has a bunch of stuff in it.
First, I murder filthy beasts.
Next, I use my magic instrument to make a block vanish.
I forgot to take a picture of me solving the block puzzle but come on
The Boss Key! Without this, I can't fight the boss. So it's kinda important.
We finally head back to that other bombable place and find this room filled with filthy undead hands the size of Link. They die.
The Boss awaits.
Two Aquamentus. Dangerous fire breathing dragons! Just getting close to them is dangerous!
So I don't. Instead we pump them full of arrows. It's kinda like how I play Monster Hunter.
By consuming the Beast's Heart, we gain its Courage.
It's a sining golden triangle! This must be the treasure of the forbidden cave!
So we take it!
And promptly get warped to a strange cosmic space.
By acquiring one piece of the Triforce, you have unwittingly broke the seal on Ganon's confinement. By so doing you have also sealed your fate in destroying him. You are destined to journey the world in search of the remaining Triforce pieces and confront Ganon. By collecting the Triforce piece, you have made your nightmares and dreams real. Those ill dreams you have been having will come true unless you do something about it. I'm sorry I cannot help you further, but I can transport you back outside and help guide you to the next piece you must find. The next Triforce piece is off to the west on an island filled with tress and lush vegetation. You must succeed in this task Link, if not, all hope is lost....... You can return to your homeworld by either of the two portals.
So wait. You're telling us that if Link hadn't done anything, everything would be good and we wouldn't have to adventure?
Why don't people tell me things!
You might want to spoil the updates for space's sake, and then also post those in the OP under titles so they are easier to find in the future.
This is a good idea.
I'm a whore for anything Zelda related, so I'll definitely have to look into this.

If there was a shop in the dungeon you'd see it on the Map I made.
The game is largely based off Zelda 1. I think the latest version supports diagonal movement, but this game was made in version 1.85 or something, while the latest version is 2.10.
It's pretty easy to play on a keyboard anyways.
I hope he isn't up to kidnapping girls again! I'm not going outside for fear of some big bird or monster to carry me off again! I guess you have no choice, you must find the Triforce again and defeat Ganon once more. I dug out this raft from the storage shed of our village. I hope it will prove useful to you on your travels. Good Luck!
The raft is a very important item. At any dock now we can set sail! Adventure on the high seas!
To the west! We need to find the next Triforce piece!
"Big Ocean" is basically any place which isn't a named island. The place is filled with small islands, rocks, and secrets buried beneath the waves. This particular island is just west of Town Island. As the first little island you're likely to find, it has a few things on it.
Tucked into a corner of the island is a red ruppee. This gives you lots of money. And cash is a very important thing!
Link wonders why there's a statue of him just sitting on a random island.
Nothing else to do here, so we move on.
Oh yeah, see the rock formation there? That's a turn point. Generally, you move on a set path on the raft. But at those formations you're able to turn by pressing the direction you want to go.
We make it to a named island! Forest Island. It is, as you can guess, covered with a forest. Hmm... I wonder...
First, we unseal a cave using gunpowder.
Inside is a Fairy Fountain. These fully restore health and there's one on every major island.
We continue our exploration.
Hmm... this statue seems to me looking at something.
Well, now we know for sure something important is on this island. The Triforce mark is here.
Also, another Piece of Heart I can't reach.
Why is there a shop on an island with absolutely no civilization?
Who cares? I see something awesome!
Boomerang! The Boomerang is a pretty useful item. It's a free ranged attack that stuns most enemies, and defeats some of the weaker ones.
I then pick up some cash to make up for the massive drop in funds I just incured.
.....
OK then.
There's a place I can enter over there. But there's this undestroyable boulder in my way.
Great.
Now what. I've explored the whole island.
TO THE NEXT ONE!
Waterfall Island is an island.
Presumably with a waterfall on it.
The names of these islands are brilliant folks.
Other then a bit of money, I can't reach any other part of this place. So I head off to search for a new spot to dock on.
Along the way I find another nameless island with a Link statue on it. Who builds these?
This spot on Waterfall Island holds a secret.
See this triangle?
Play the Ocarina and you open access to this cave.
Sadly, Link has girly arms and can't pick up the sword.
Looping around another nameless island. We finally make it...
...to a spot on Waterfall Island which isn't completely closed off.
These uninhabited islands must have low taxes or something.
What's this? A giant Red Bomb?
No.
It's a Super Bomb.
Super Bombs are massive, powerful explosives with a wide explosion radius. If a Super Bomb can't destroy it, nothing can.
Of course, this power has its limitations.
You can only hold up to two Super Bombs at a time, also, they're expensive and you can only get them one at a time.
Heading back to Forest Island, we try a Super Bomb on this massive boulder.
It worked!
Next Update: We enter that tree stump!
Most of the graphics appear to be taken from Link to the Past, Link's Awakening and the Oracle games, but the sprite for Link appears to be the one from Minish Cap squished to be smaller and it looks really weird.
3DS Friend Code: 2165-6448-8348 www.Twitch.TV/cooljammer00
Battle.Net: JohnDarc#1203 Origin/UPlay: CoolJammer00
I fixed them already.
This is what I get for not previewing my posts.
I kinda like it.
Also, I'm pretty sure it's actually a sprite set made from scratch that just imitates the MC style.
Limitations of the Zelda Classic engine actually make it kinda hard to just import Minish Cap sprites. :P Too many colors in them.
Level 2. Libra isn't that much more complex then Taurus.
It even has the same statue trick in the entrance.
Which promptly rewards us with the first key of this dungeon.
Next I head left.
Dodongos are all around this place. It's not really worth it to kill them. It just wastes bombs. They're easy to avoid.
Moving left again.
I wonder how an entire forest ecosystem can exist underground like this.
This room has a bunch of stuff. Two doors, one locked, a place to bomb, and blocks I can't pass!
First order of business, explosions.
Dead end...?
Nope!
Another key!
Heading to the northern door of the room, I wind up in this place. A staircase is there. I take it.
Another room that exists for a staircase.
Only to hit a dead end. Nothing I can do in here right now.
We head all the way back and take the locked door. But wait. This room's completely empty.
Or is it?
One slash of the sword cuts away the vines! Revealing the way we need to go!
Traps, Wallmasters, and stairs. I kill the Wallmasters, dodge the traps, and take the stairs.
What's this?
The Magic Boomerang is an upgrade of the regular Boomerang. It has a much longer reach.
We take an explosive shortcut to get back to the stairs.
I have a feeling...
I knew it
Bubbles are so annoying. If they touch you you can't use your sword.
Lots of things to bomb in this room. But the wall's the only one that we actually do.
We grab the key and use it to unlock the door ahead of us.
MID-BOSS!!
Darknuts are one of the more dangerous enemies. They hit hard, and are very hard to kill. They're invulnerable from the front and have a tendency to turn to face you when you're trying to attack. Also they're invulnerable to arrows and bommerangs.
But there are tougher things to worry about. I kill them and get the Lanturn!
With the Lanturn I can use Magic Power to create fire. This burns away wooden things like trees.
Heading allll the way back to the entrance and bombing the wall to the right, we find this room. Please the Blood God and move the block afterwards.
I wind up here thanks to the stairs.
This is a mildly annoying room. The Bubbles do their best to keep you from hitting the switches, and the Dodongo just harrasses you.
Moving on, there are two ways to go. We can go through the log or through the cracked wall via bombs.
I choose explosives and end up at another block puzzle.
They're starting to get tricky, but it's not that major a problem.
Hmmm...
The Boss Door.
No Boss Key.
Problem.
Heading back up through the log, we find something to burn!
Apperently these blocks are made of wood.
We were short on keys, so here's one for us to use.
Backtracking again.
Bombing again.
We blind another statue.
Oh geez.
I have to move around Traps and Bubbles. So annoying.
Also Wallmasters.
But hey, a key.
Heading the other way, I find a chest with the Map in it,
I'm really bad at finding these. I clear almost the whole dungeon before I find the map.
Moving over to the next room I spy a chest.
Being greedy, I turn around to get it.
It's the Compass!
This is something I missed in Taurus. So I'll explain it here. Basically the Compass shows where the goal of the level is. It helps give a point of reference. The pink dot on the full map is where the goal is, while the orange/brown dot is us.
Moving on, I find another set of stairs.
Blue Leevers and Traps.
The next room has a sealed off switch!
Nothing the Magic Boomerang can't solve!
This room exists, I suspect, because those dog looking monsters have a high chance of dropping bombs.
Slaying the Leever Guardians, Link braves down the stairs.
Another key! This was a good room, two keys.
Remember this room? We can get through this part now.
Another block puzzle to deal with.
What could be sealed away here?
The Boss Key!
Time to head all the way back and take on the boss.
Ugly thing. I have no idea what it's called. But neither Sword, nor Arrow, nor Boomerang, nor even Bombs, hurt it.
That is until I play the Ocarina. It then splits into many little things. Which I can stun with the Boomerang.
Then I can blow them up.
Wait, if it split into three, why do I only get one Heart?
Oh well.
Triforce!
We have our second piece! Huzzah!
Triforce piece. It is on an island northeast from here on a land filled with snow and hail. Ice flows cake the landscape there. Good Luck!
Great.
Get the coats and Hot Chocolate guys, we're going to need them.
It doesn't dig music.
It might be worth pointing out the game's homepage, along with PureZC, which hosts a bunch of quests and other resources for Zelda Classic.
Fine. Adding links to OP.
Like Mega Man Legends? Then check out my story, Legends of the Halcyon Era - An Adventure in the World of Mega Man Legends on TMMN and AO3!
First! Back to Town Island!
With our new toys we can access some stuff!
This skull can be blown up with a Super Bomb. Under the skull is a staircase.
This is a pretty useful offer. A bomb upgrade. Sure, it's pricey, but we have the money!
A bomb upgrade increases the number of Bombs you can carry by four, and the number of Super Bombs you can carry by one.
Link commits Arson in his hometown for a good cause.
Our first Piece of Heart! If we collect four of these we'll gain a new Heart Container.
I try my hand at gambling.
I lose five times in a row.
The House always wins folks.
The House always wins
Running away from home to dodge his gambling debts, Link comes across a small island filled with wildlife.
His dark masters are pleased that the blood still flows.
The mermaid statue is interesting. But there's something else off about this island.
Can you spot it?
Anyways, we head back to Waterfall Island.
Killing all those monsters has made Link strong enough to pick up this sword!
The White Sword is a pretty big improvement on the regular sword. It does twice the damage. As such, most medium strength enemies now go down in two hits.
This screenshot's horrible but there's a Red Rupee under that Peahat. Trust me
This is weird. I tried playing the Ocarina over the triangle, didn't do anything. I don't know what this thing is for.
We explore Waterfall Island some more.
Dang unreachable Heart Pieces. :x
Bombs are so useful.
This cave serves as a warp point. You enter that portal over there and you end up on another spot on the island.
See?
Not much else we can reach right now, but if you play the Ocarina on this music note.
A ladder off the island appears!
We ditch Waterfall Island and head to our next destination
Desert Island.
A godforsaken dry wasteland filled with nothing but cacti and Leevers. So many Leevers
Link probably picked that cash off a corpse who died of thirst.
I don't know about you but that Heart Container isn't worth having to dodge the devil centaurs that shoot fire.
A shop?
A shop
Why is there a shop on this unholy blasted peice of earth!?
On the bright side, explosives are moderately cheaper here, so I fill up on them.
We are so out of here.
Isle of the Winds?
This place probably isn't that important.
To the next island!
Snow Island.
A place filled with ice and snow and most likely the next Triforce Piece.
...now wait a minute.
Just a few miles back there's a scorching desert! How does an island completely covered in perpetual winter coexist with that? Not only that but it only snows over the island nowehere else?
Look! Layering effects!
Let's bomb open this cave to see if it leads us further into the island.
Nothing interesting here...
...except for another thing to blow up!
Well, OK then.
Arrows and Bommerang don't effect that switch over there, nothing else to do here, so we turn around.
If I could access all these Heart Pieces I've found we'd have so much more health.
Maybe this cave is more interesting.
And it is! It's a warp point that leads us further up.
Hey, another shop. Awesome.
Geez, this shop sucks.
Two things of note.
Another cave to open, and a Triforce mark. Yes.
The cave is a series of one way doors that leads too...
A Purple Rupee!
This is a lot of money!
And leads me back to the very start of the island.
............Darn it.
Yay! More Money!
After backtracking, I use a Super Bomb to blow away this boulder.
If you haven't guessed, Super Bombs are pretty important.
Well, this is impressive looking.
I guess this is the next dungeon.

Especially when you forget to take a picture of a screen and your entire map is misaligned now and you need to erase half of it and start over.
What does Scorpio have to do with ice?
Anyways, Scorpio is in my opinion when the game takes off the kid gloves. Taurus and Libra were practice. This is when the difficulty curve starts going up.
Ice slows Link down, combine that with the Traps and the game throws a tricky first room at you. Luckily, Traps are easy to deal with.
You just need to hit the switch with the Boomerang to get through this room.
Though, notice something. You don't need the range of the Magic Boomerang. Remember what I said about non linarity, it's entirely possible that Scorpio could be the first dungeon the player stumbles upon. Though I wouldn't recomend going through it as the first dungeon you go through.
Enemies and treasure.
Slaughter the monsters to open the Blood-Lock.
Then take the treasure.
It's the Compass! This is a first for me. :P Actually getting it early!
Our goal is tucked away in a far off corner of the Dungeon. We don't be reaching there for a while.
This a room that we'll be entering often.
The entire dungeon is sort of divided into four segments, with this room as the central link.
Let's start with the upper left exit.
You've noticed all the Darknuts, right?
It's a pretty good indicator of the rising difficulty. The midbosses of the last levels become regular enemies in the next.
There are three ways we can take.
Let's go south. I have a good feeling about it.
Alright!
We have the Map!
And so absurdly early.
You can see how big Scorpio is now. I'm glad it's pretty simple to navigate.
We head back and take the open door. It's probably a good idea to clear out the Stalfos before letting the Darknut in.
Oh geez. This place is just filled with surprises isn't it.
"But wait a mintue Pata!" You're saying. "I thought you said it was non linear! Why is a block that requires the Lanturn here?"
Good question!
The answer is simple, you don't need to enter every room to clear a dungeon. But for the sake of this LP and completionism, we shall.
A staircase leads to where?
A key!
We go back and destroy that cracked block so the uncracked block can go over the switch.
Another room with three ways to go, let's take the open door this time.
Well we've been here before. But not on this part, down the stairs we go!
Two keys without finding a lock. Are we good or what?
Link finds that this block is way too heavy for him to move.
And he was able to pick up the awesome White Sword too.
So we take the last option.
It's this Dungeon's Block Puzzle!
They're still not very hard.
Run away from the Darknuts!
Pass through a room I forgot to screenshot till later...
Like-Likes are guarding a locked door. What could be on the other side?
The Mid-boss!
Moldorms.
Easy pickings, because I have the White Sword, so a single hit kills a segment of them.
Link pulls something out of their belly. The Power Glove!
With this Link gains super strength, able to push incredibly heavy things.
Like this block!
Going through the maze, dodging Traps earns us a key.
Nothing else to do on this segment of the level, so lets go back to the center room.
We take lower left one this time. It leads to a small room with annoying monsters.
It also has some bombs tucked away.
To pass this dark trial, we must slaughter all four Darknuts and the Kesse.
The floor really should be red.
Another room where we have to kill creatures in cold blood.
Get it?
Passing through, we find ourselves in this strange room.
It looks kinda like the entrance. I wonder what's through that door?
Holy crap we're outside.
And we can grab a Piece of Heart!
Burn the forest! We need our Hearts!
This is our second. Two more before we get another Heart Container!
Back to Scorpio I guess.
Push this statue to open the door.
We head north into this room, which I forgot to screenshot earlier.
Snatch the key from it.
Back to the Center Room! Nothing else to do in this segment!
We take the lower right door.
Push the differently colored block to progress.
Here's a fun room. One Bubble disables A, while the other disables B. They look alike, have fun!
Out of here.
Remember what I said about Statues?
Always, always shoot their eyes out.
Like-Likes, unlike most monsters, don't bleed.
They ooze a grey fluid while making disturbing noises when they die.
Another door to the outside.
I like this key. It's just interesting how it's sitting outside the dungeon.
Pushing a statue to reveal stairs.
The Boss Door!
But we lack the Boss Key and a means to reach the door in the first place.
Moving on!
We head back to the Center Room and take the upper right door.
Passing through this room we find a room that was annoying enough that I forgot to screenshot it until I solved it.
Tons of Stalfos, a Dodongo, Boomerange throwing monsters on the other side of the blocks, and a Bubble. I have to kill all of them to move the blocks. But it was worth it.
Because it gets me the Magic Wand!
With the Magic Wand I can use my Magic Meter to shoot a blast of powerful magic.
We move north to this room. Dosn't seem to be anything in it but monsters, huh?
But if we kill all the monsters, bombs appear.
I think this is a hint.
Sure enough, a hidden door!
Using our new Magic Wand, I open the way to this chest!
The Boss key!
We can beat the dungeon now!
While passing by, I use the Magic Wand to open the way for that last chest.
I like keys, don't you?
The Boss is in reach.
And boy is it a tough one. Every head you kill, it gets faster. And it's on ice, so you're slow. A tricky monster to beat for sure.
Unless, of course, you blow it up all at once with a Super Bomb.
I'd say the convience makes up for the 40 Rupee cost.
Another Heart devoured, Link is one step closer to becoming a god.
[strike]Shine[/strike]Triforce Get!
Triforce Piece. It is on an island south of here filled with marshy waters and a constant onslaught of rain. Be careful!
Sigh.
First a frozen wasteland, now a marshy quagmire.
Isn't being a hero fun?

And it leads to a Piece of Heart! This makes three. We're so close to another container!
Link decides that he's a little creeped out by a giant statue of him. And blows it up.
What's this? The statue was covering up a hidden underground room.
Underneath each Link statue is a mini-dungeon. The puzzles are simple, really more like gates with dungeon items being keys.
In this case, the key is the Lanturn.
Harvest the Dodongo bones in order to upgrade your longsword so you can take on Tigrex.
We've reached the end, and what's inside?
This is a magic upgrade. Collecting this makes your magic meter a little longer.
Go East young man!
To swamp island!
A rain filled, muddy quagmire filled with invasive plants and horrible monsters.
So kinda like Seattle.
Random fact, this is the edge of the gameworld. Yeah, Link can't go down and loop around to the other side. That'd be cool, but you can't do that from top to bottom. Left and right you can though.
A shop. How does he avoid the mold and rot.
The magic sheild will block fire and magical attacks.
See this here?
A dumb move, you'll see why.
Oh hey, both the Triforce mark and the boulder blocking the enterance!
Poor Peahat.
Next update: I go through a dungeon [strike]twice[/strike] three times!

Me on Twitch!
I was waiting for somebody to reply.
Didn't want to double post updates.
Give me a few minutes.
OK, I cleared this dungeon. Then, do you know what happened? I exited, forgetting to save.
But that's not the end, as I was assembling the Map, I had forgotten to take pictures of a few rooms, by the time I noticed the map was so messed up I said "screw it". And ran through the dungeon again. This time making sure to take a picture of every room.
We now return to the actual update.
When I first played this I got stuck on Cancer for months. You'll see why.
Not a very dangerous room. Worms to kill so Link can eat worm steak.
Worm steak isn't very good.
It's... the boss door.
Hmm.
Well, this is fast.
Heading the other way now.
Once again a complex ecosystem is survivng underground.
How.
Treasure that we can't reach.
We head down to a locked room.
Inside is more monsters to kill.
Pols Voice's are an interesting monster, and one of my favorite Zelda monsters. In the original Famicom Zelda, they would only be defeated by blowing into a microphone attatched to the Famicom second player controller. In the NES however, this microphone was removed. To make up for this, the NES version Pols Voices were vulnarable to arrows, being killed very easily by them. But the manual still mentioned their vulerablity to sound. Confusing a lot of people.
Later Zelda games with them, Link's Awakening, Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons, used the instraments you get in the game instead to defeat them. But the Pols Voices made a return in Phantom Hourglass, once again being defeated by a microphone, the DS micophone.
Zelda Classic is based off NES Zelda, natrually. So arrows it is. I'm pretty sure later versions let the Ocarina beat them though if the quest maker wants.
You get a key and a history lesson!
Here's how we get out. But first...
We need to meet out boom quota!
Treasure!
It's the map!
This dungeon is devided into two sections, it's all symetrical.
Burning away our troubles.
Not pictured: The huge fireball from swampgas exploding.
Not pictured: The huge pile of blood and gore.
Wizrobes. They teleport around and shoot magic at you. Annoying.
Heading up the stairs we wind up here!
More Pols Voice.
More of these gaps we can't cross.
Oh look, a chest.
I die in this room. So I decide to head back to the first floor to take a different route.
That room must be important. Gaps and a key?
The Compass!
Of course, I already know where the goal is, so this is rather pointless.\
Dodge the Darknuts.
Bomb the wall.
Loop through here.
Another staircase.
We wind up here and...
Kill enemies to get bombs.
This is a hint.
Using the awesome power of magic I make a bridge appear!
Using the Gore Engine Link converts animal mass to a key.
Heading back, we enter this dark room.
Ahhhhhhh!!!
Slice everything near! Run away!
That statue can still see :x
Much better.
Just run through this room.
This one too- wait. Play the Ocarina, then run through it.
!!!!
Not a very impressive set. Just slightly tougher versions of monsters I've killed a lot already.
The Ladder!
This is a useful item, it lets you cross over small gaps, letting you reach lots of places you couldn't before.
Heading back...
We pick up a key!
#(@BGAHGGWGJHKILSNHA GSIGABJSJSMGO DFASNBV!!!
STUPID LIKE-LIKES
....moving on. We cross this gap. Head down the stairs on the other side of the door, and find a very useful item.
The Blue Mail!
This is a very useful piece of equipment. It cuts damage done by half. It effectively doubles our Hearts.
Heading around to this room, I find a secret.
Make a space with the Ocarina, cross the gap with the ladder, kill the monsters with the sword.
Such nice usage of all the tools available.
Stairs!
Keys!
We cross gaps into the unknown!
To get another key.
We head back down.
This will be annoying later.
We cross over to here.
Using music to make the block dance and be movable.
Another room to kill things in.
We move down to get...
...that key we saw earlier!
And another one!
We cross the gap to this place.
Not Pictured: The Statue's Tear.
Bam!
This room is nice, you have to dodge the Traps in the narrow corridor to get to the precious staircase.
Can't forget the Wallmasters!
It gives us the Boss Key.
But there's one more thing I missed.
Up on the second floor, this hint I missed. This room is why I was stuck. Cancer was the second dungeon I went too, and I got lost and confused and didn't have enough keys. Because I missed this bombable wall.
Underneath this thing, is a chest.
Inside is the final key!
Onto the Boss!
Two Gohmas!
Oh tricky, you can imagine. They're only vulnerable when their eye is open... as they fire out balls of flame or something.
Luckily, the bow allows easy work of them.
Ewww spider blood.
We have obtained another piece of the gods.
Boo-ya.
Triforce piece. It lies in the center of the world where it is cloaked under ever lasting nightcloud. Look for the waterfalls...
Looks like next time we'll be heading back to good old Waterfall Island.

This is awesome.
Piece of Heart time!
We brutally destroy another Link statue.
Underneath is a room filled with snakes and heavy blocks.
Link had a hard time pushing the blocks.
Dang Moldorms!
Grumble grumble
A bit more magic for us to use.
Back to Swamp Island!
I can't move this.
Mysterious Mermaid Monument
Another Skull!
The ladder can be used to cross water too. Somehow.
Blow it up.
Whoo!
More bombs!
Remember this odd statue?
Well, I figure that maybe a Super Bomb will work.
Yes.
I wonder what little secret this statue holds.
....:O
Wow.
um.
Crazy
OK!
Next update: We run in circles exploring this new dungeon!
