I havent seen any dagger options. closest I've seen are katars for claw fighting. though dual swords might have something, havent gone through the default options for those yet
Nevermind, I got a key from that German site. So I hear there are some builds that are better than others? Which builds suck, which are good?
Whichever one you think is the most fun.
I'm with the person who was talking about min/maxing earlier. This isn't Arena in WoW. I mean I'm not jumping on you for asking, but just play what you think is cool.

They all look pretty cool, honestly. I just don't want to be much worse than the power builds. I've been screwed before by picking a class that I thought looked cool in an MMO, but it turned out to suck balls.

Well there's only a few days left of open beta, so you don't have to worry about that.

They are all capable enough, so the advice of picking what you like isn't bad advice.

Pardon me if this was answered earlier, but for those of you who were wondering what the stock customization options for the pistols in the munitions pool are, they are as follows:
Default - Oversized Desert Eagles
Modern Conventional Pistol #3 - Oversized blocky .45s
Modern Conventional Pistol #4 - Oversized USP w/ Silencer
Modern Conventional Pistol #5 - Oversized Revolver (Think the animated handgun from Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, but bigger)
That's it for pistols...
So for those of you looking for some more exotic looking hardware like flintlocks to go with your character concepts, you will have to rely on trade skills or drops.

What do people use to make a robed character? None of the chest pieces seem to fit especially... unless integrated shoulders is it. Glad they actually included a robe option, though.

The "Tunic" chest piece worked okay for my robed guy.
How do I do one of those costume screenshots? I can show you how it looks.
They get put in your cryptic studios\champions\live\screenshots folder when you save a costume.

I have FotM balancing stuck in my brain since reading that forum post. I wrote a PM to Akinos about it, but I will share it here because I like debating and discoursing:
I was reading a post earlier where someone was concerned about FotM builds, and it got my head grinding into motion. I have been thinking of a plan to help alleviate this.
The goal isn't to cripple those who pick FotM builds though, just to diminish them enough while they are together so that they don't top the charts; to make FotMs slightly less attractive and encourage people to diversify. People will still FotM, can't be stopped. But rather than game mechanics trying to enforce balance, use the competitive nature of the power-gamers themselves as a social control against a single dominant power combination.
Example:
Player A, Player B, and Player C all get into a party with the latest FotM build. Together they tackle a spawn of NPC opponents.
Player A uses an alpha strike right off the bat; Power X on NPC_1.
Player B uses the energy builder from that same frame; Power Y on NPC_2.
Player C uses a power from a different frame on the next guy; Power Z on NPC_3.
So far, everything is fine, and no one has any disadvantages.
Player A is out of energy, and build on the next mob; Power Y on NPC_4. He gets a debuff called "Cramping my Style" (because that power has already been used against a member of this spawn set) and against the remaining mobs in this spawn set is at -1 star effectiveness.
Player B is full on energy and uses the same Alpha Player A used earlier to finish his mob; Power X on NPC_2. Now both Player A and Player B are affected with "Cramping my Style", and each have 2 star penalty for the duration of the combat against that spawn set.
Player C is smarter than the other two, and uses some other power against the last guy; Power W on NPC_4. This player still has no penalties.

IMO, diminishing returns is an extremely unfun way to balance. I also don't seeing FOTM builds as being a problem in PVE like they probably will be in PVP. The answer, as I see it, is as much transparency in the mechanics and player/power usage statistics as possible along with honest balancing.
I don't think it is possible to stop the FOTM meme.
So, I'm mildly interested in this. Mostly considering it for the Star Trek beta, because I'm more sci fi nerd than comic nerd. If I get the 6 months for 60 bucks, do I still have to buy the game for another 60 bucks? And also are there any particular videos that you saw that completely sold you on the game?

That seems kinda silly and that it would weaken people in a team that happen to have the same powers for no real reason. That and people have so many skills and abilities as well as them being customizable, it would be really hard to tell if anyone did or didn't use that power in the heat of battle.

You would still have to buy the game, although it would be fifty dollars for the PC version (the Xbox 360 version won't be released for awhile yet and I don't even know if they'll have subscription sales).
Fire's considered weak? By whom? Heatwave hits for around 1000 at level 10. Pyre is a spammable, 400-damage PBAoE. This is without any passive slotted. If anything, it needs its damage toned way down.
I've seen a lot of people bitching about it, especially the Tier 1 powers.
I've never really specced out of it for obvious thematic reasons, so I have no idea what they compare it to.

To be fair, the very first pistol you can make with crafting at the super low levels are in fact flintlocks. The rest of the crafting pistols are pretty much just weird alien pistols though.
How do I get in the open beta again? I thought I just had to download the app from Fileplanet.
You have to either pre-order the game from a store that supplies beta keys or you can get them off of certain websites. I'm not sure if they still have any available but earlier people were using this site:

Also, Pyre also has a Knockback option.
Spammable knockback PBAoE.
Yea, I was kind of underwhelmed by tier 1 fire, and so far haven't mustered up the interest to take him further. Still focusing on my gadgeteering/supernatural, but a mix of munitions/martial arts is fun too. Damn if the two gun mojo isn't a badass power.

Fire is all about infinite AOE. You can eventually get a power that passively regens your Endurance if anything around you is on fire and an instant AOE that sets everything on fire, and after that you're basically just a damage fountain.
EDIT: That is very small. Let me see if I can get a better one.
EDIT2: Added another one.
This reminds me. I tried to make a tentacle faced horror with robes on for a telepathic/telekinetic and possibly darkness character. I was disappointed to find that you cannot have a hood and face tentacles.
So, is there some sort of PA chat channel or something? Got this to work when I got home from work and have been having a blast... still, might be nicer with some other folks to chat with, ask questions to, etc, etc.
So is our man Akinos still taking PMs on the official site? From what was said in one of the recent news post about the issues with Teleport: it's clear that the dev team doesn't completely understand what the problem is.

The gauntlets and the upper armbands don't quite match. It is missing a few items. Most of it is there, yes.

edit: wouldn't really fit the concept in any way anyhow.
preorder it or get lucky and get a key from someone. there was a website with beta keys but they're out now.

Does it give you the option to file a bug report? You can file a support ticket with Cryptic using their website as well.
You have to either pre-order the game from a store that supplies beta keys or you can get them off of certain websites. I'm not sure if they still have any available but earlier people were using this site:

I submitted the bug report, but it seems like it's actually a common problem:
