I generally stick to the 5-must-haves rule. Taking a quick glance at my shelves... stack of ~15 360 games, stack of ~texas new PC games, stack of ~12 DS games. Currently have 0 games for my newly acquired PS3, but I intend to rectify over the next couple months with a few catch-up games (like VC and LBP) and some new releases (like Uncharted 2). The big challenge will be figuring out which console to go with on multiplat releases from now on...
Oh, you already know the drill... 360 for multiplayer, PS3 for anything else that strikes your fancy.
Yeah, I could go with that. I don't play multiplayer often, so it's honestly kind of coming down to multiplat 360 games going towards giving me a larger gamerscore, while PS3 games do not. There is trophy support, of course, but I don't already have 7000 trophypoints.

I didn't want to bring that up because I hardly think gamerscore should be the ultimate deciding factor, fun though it might be. I don't know if the PS3 does it something like it, but future 360 games will also start giving avatar rewards. So if that sounds like something...
Beyond that, it may come down to which version offers 'more'. Like how the PS3 version of Batman:AA has exclusive Joker challenge maps or some games offer slightly enhanced graphics compared to the 360. I can say that if you let gamerscore become a deciding factor, you'll find yourself swinging heavily toward the 360 be default and PS3 exclusive might not be enough...
Man, I generally dont even like Nintendo first party games all that much.
Oh, I'm with you there. I always play their newer games when they come out and say, "oh I've played this before."
...and it was awesome then, and is still awesome now.
I'm hard pressed to find any game for which I can't say "oh I've played this before."
Well of course, but with a lot of nintendo headliners, we were already saying that eight goddam years ago and oh look it's nearly two decades later and we're still using the master sword to find the triforce to kill motherfucking ganon.

You should also wait on JRPG's not published by Microsoft. Sony likes acquiring them late with a bunch of bonus content. Like Vesparia having like twice the content or something, and the extra stuff that was in Eternal Sonata.

Well, that only counts if they ever get released anywhere other than goddamn Japan.

This. Judging by some of the comments from the Lead Tales of Dev, we probably won't be getting ToV PS3.
PS3 has the best damn exclusives IMO (in retail...download games are a different story).
I could seriously never buy a multiplatform game on PS3 ever again and the damn thing would still be worth it with all the great exclusives they crank out.
Man, I generally dont even like Nintendo first party games all that much.

Well that's Zelda, I was specifically thinking Mario. I personally can't play Galaxy and say I've played it before, but I can see other people yawning at double jumping and triple jumping and throwing fireballs. To me that's merely the mechanics though, it's where you go, what places you explore that really matters.
I can appreciate Galaxy from an objective standing. I never say I think it's a bad game, it is clearly very, very good. I'm just saying I preferred the aesthetic of Sunshine, cleaning up shit on a tropical island. It had more coherency, more structure. Galaxy feels more like a platforming sandbox to me, sometimes literally platforms floating in space.
It also helped that Sunshine was a perfect summer game for me, it's like play that shit then as soon as I'm done go outside and enjoy the summer sun. It was pretty great. Galaxy is technically superior in my eyes, but it feels a lot less worthwhile. Planetoids in the ether don't hook me as much as hidden coves or tranquil idyllic plazas and whatnot.
I love Super Mario Galaxy to death and think it's the best Wii game available...but at the same time, I kinda wish they would have allowed GC controller compatibility.
I prefer Sunshine as well, in part due to the sublime controls. I really dug FLUDD too.
My cousin is selling his 360 Arcade for $100 because he bought one of the new Elites for $299. Admittedly this one of the old ones that still has the headset and cables, but he could have bought all those things for his existing arcade for about $150.
On the bright side, it's likely that having the Elite will vastly reduce his chances of ever RRODing as compared to an "older" Arcade unit... so maybe if he's lucky it's a fair tradeoff in the end? You can tell him that if you want to let him feel like less of a dumbass for paying $200 for stuff he could have bought for $150.
I plan on getting a new elite and selling my old pro, mainly cause the elite'd be a newer model and I got one of the last batches of pros before the elite was even available

He bought this Arcade only a year ago. It's likely a falcon. It's likely the same board that's in the elite.
And now he's claiming "But I got the convenience of 1-day shipping because I just brought it home from Gamestop."
Well congratulations, you paid $35 in sales tax for the convenience of bringing it home the same day.
Sega's been doing 2D sonics on the portables for a while, and nobody can agree on what is good or bad about the portable sonics.
And thus this "HD" 2D sonic is going to inevitably get bashed horribly by at least one large group of people.
I like many others have lost all faith in Sega's ability to make a good Sonic game. Making it entirely 2D is nice and all but I still don't believe that they have anyone on board talented enough to make a truly good game.
And then it was probably the most terrible piece of shit released last year that didn't have Hannah Montana in the title?
Yeah.
I remember how it was never going to be fully 2D even in the earliest impressions. Of course werehog was sprung on everyone but there were always over the shoulder sections. I also remember it being merely mediocre, as most Sonic games, not a terrible piece of shit. Of course it feels worse if you had any hope it would be awesome to begin with.
But really, are you trying to argue that this game isn't 2D based on Unleashed, when the trailer itself calls it 2D and gives every indication that it will be?

I didn't watch the newest trailer yet, because I already consider it a hopeless endeavor.
And while they didn't state that it was going to be fully 2D, ALL the first screenshots of Sonic Unleashed were on a 2D plane and we heard all this stuff from Sega about "bringing Sonic back to its roots!"
And while there may have been worse games last year (I'm sure Ubisoft put out an "Imagine" title or two, right?), Sonic Unleashed was certainly the worst filth that I played last year, and I played a ton of games last year.
It became pretty apparent after TP that they desperately need a new Zelda formula.
But they're doing that, so it's cool.
Well, actually that seems to have been a bit of a misconception. In fact Miyamoto's said recently that the new Wii Zelda won't be drastically different in looks or in gameplay.
Which is a lose-lose situation for everyone, I suppose.

how different will Zelda Wii be when compared to other Zelda titles? “I don’t think it’s going to be that radically different.”
That doesn't tell me much...Zelda is typically about boy gets sword, boy fights Ganon, boy rescues princess. That's fine, and it works. Just getting a little sick of the Zelda 64 scheme in which they deliver all that.
The PS3 Slim sold 40,000 units in its first week of release in the UK, MCV can reveal.
It was reported earlier this week that sales of PS3 climbed 999 per cent week-on-week following the launch of the new model. However, no sales figures were released at the time.
The number was arrived at by looking at week one sales for the PS2 Slim, which the BBC reported to be 50,000 in the UK. Sony said last week that week one sales of the PS3 Slim were 20 per cent behind that number – hence, 40,000 is the figure for week one sales of the PS3 Slim.
Sony declined to comment on the news, though UK sales director Mark Howsen did tell MCV on Monday that SCE is “extremely pleased” with the console’s start in the UK.
The achievement means that the UK just outpaced the French debut of the machine, though lagged some way behind the barnstorming Japanese launch.

Even TP had some great locations to explore.
...
Actually, the mansion was really fucking cool, but apart from that and the final dungeon, I don't really remember much about TP...

If you don't do both in that game, I'd be amazed.
It'll be about thrashing moblins with a legendary sword while operating a steam-powered locomotive.
I kinda want them to have D-Pad support. You know, have the ability to move Link and do stylus stuff. At the same time.

Adventure was very good. If they build upon that, maybe slow it down a bit and mess with the physics it could be great.

Probably not. Maybe on this forum but that's even a stretch. A lot of people thought it was a step forward for Sonic games.
