man, i hate buying entire seasons of a dvd. i'd much rather buy every single episode individually!

This is not really a good analogy

    why

Most shows don't break up every story over four-five episodes each, let alone an eight to twelve episode season

It really is closer to splitting a movie up into fifteen minute chunks

Also in keeping with the TV thing, for shits in giggles, this is the equivalent of "I COULD buy this in episodes but instead I'll wait until it finishes in four months and then another three months for it to be released as a season

And watch it seven months behind"

the whole "Trades vs. Singles" thing is always far more complicated than anyone makes it out to be

any simple analogy is going to fall apart under enough scrutiny

Hardcover trades are great until you are carrying three of them around and drop them on your foot. Then you sorta wish you had paper trades then.

Do you see every movie in theaters instead of waiting for the DVD?

no but I don't care if the movie industry collapses

Trades wouldn't cause the comic industry to collapse

Its refusal to change is what will cause it to collapse

Ah, here it is. I prefer trades to singles. I do have a couple full runs though, which I will probably just keep that way. Fear Agent and Immortal Iron Fist, also a lot of mediocre miniseries.

I like trades for non-superhero stuff. I caught up on Fables and then couldn't get too into it monthly, so I tradewait it (and still haven't caught up on it in two or three years now)

Except for BKV's stuff. His is great monthly.

    I really prefer singles

I don't have a problem with trades, I just like being able to get my stories faster

I typically only buy trades of stuff it it came out before I was reading comics

i.e. transmet, sandman, starman, the question

    screw looking for back issues

I basically never start a series in the middle

I wait for a relaunch, or for a new creative team to take over

I also buy a lot of first issues

A battle of god-like proportions begins...right now! For months, the signs have been all over the Marvel Universe... The tension has been rising... All pointing to a single question: "What is CONTINUUM?" The answer turns out to be so deadly, so horrifying, that it will alter the course of the MU forever—unless Hercules and the New and Mighty Avengers can stop it in time... but standing in their way is the fighting-mad ARES, God of War!
