Plan my trip - Breckenridge, CO Edition

I'm going to Breckenridge, CO for a 4 day trip in two weeks. I'm going for a wedding, so at least one day will be occupied. The other days, however, are open. So what can my Wife and I (and possibly some other family members) do with our free time?

Here are the ideas I have so far, without doing much research into whether any of this is available in the area:
Hiking
ATV Rental
Ghost Towns

I will have a rental car, so transportation won't be a problem.

    Those are all available.

Where are you coming from? I would plan on taking the first day to acclimate, do some driving and other things that don't require physical activity. And if you are coming from the East go over Loveland pass instead of through the tunnel on 70. Route 6 goes over the pass and meets up with Route 9 just north of Breckenridge.

For hiking I highly recommend the pass over the continental divide south of town on 9. Another neat thing is the highest road in the US is pretty close near leadville, although it isn't always open.

I've only been there in the winter so sorry I can't be more help. There are lots of gorgeous places to snowshoe and I assume they would all be just as good of places to hike.

Take at least one day to see the Continental Divide. You might want to check out Rocky Mountain National Park, too (it's a bit of a long drive but there are trails and such all over the park).

Here's a link that will give you some idea of what can be done around the park.

It's beautiful country and well worth the trip. And, yeah, avoid I-70 unless time is a factor, because the drive is much less interesting.

I haven't been in a few years, but I remember Breck being an awesome place to visit. I'd recommend you go to the Breckenridge Brewery. Their beer is fantastic, but even if you don't drink beer (or can't), they have great food from what I recall.

I was just going to suggest this! You should most defintely spend a day hiking or doing other some outdoor activity. Breck is just way too awesome to not be outside.
