Holy crap did it kick my ass, the AI teammates aren't much help either. Also I learned to keep your pallete up to date, because it sucks when you run out of heals mid fight.
I beat him by jabbing in the face with my wand after exhausting every single -fluid I had. I just barely scraped by the next boss in the same way, too. The AI partners really are just setpieces.

I went back to my old PSO standby of HuCast. I had forgotten my love of Casts.

Unfortunately, they no longer make the Metallic Chunking sound when they run.

How useful is the dodge roll, anyhow? I haven't gotten much use out of it yet, but I'm only on the second mission or so.

@entaru: RAcasts clanked when they walked, but I'm pretty sure HUcasts just made an organic moccasin-slap for their footstep.

I'm liking this game, after I got past the BS first boss. I was ready to put it down and walk away. But after beating him it's been much easier and more interesting in terms of available equipment and options.

How should I be raising my mag? I'm an elf wizard (screw the stupid abbreviations) and its levels are like 4-5-6-16 (magic being highest). I read something about going all out on one stat, but is it really that important?

I usually focus on two stats myself. So, for a Force I would probably pump Mind/Guard at about a 2:1 Ratio. Power won't really do anything for you and unless you plan to play a melee Force I don't think you should worry too much about Hit.

With the way the force weapons are set up you could also go Mind/Hit and melee the crap out of stuff, just don't get hit by an enemy.

    Ever.

Edit: sorry for the double post.

Keep Def and MST high and probably put a few into HIT.
If you want to use weapons that aren't wands, rods, or slicers though, you'll need ATT up.

You can also raise more than one mag in case you screw up or change your mind.

Does offline story mode work like PSU? Where you have a generic main character that has nothing to do with your online mode character, or are they the same and when you level offline, it's refected online?

Yeah she's well meaning but she's kind of a retard. Pretty much everyone is except Ogi, actually. I think the writers didn't know how to write smart characters so they made everyone really, really stupid and then made Ogi be of normal intelligence so he is smart by comparison.

Drop heal traps over their corpses. Moon atomizers rez everyone at once, too. It isn't really necessary once you get his pattern down. Also consider bringing a shield along and switching to that when he goes to inhale you during the first phase - you can block his followup inkblast completely with it.

You don't need to block or even dodge roll.
If you let him suck you most of the way toward him, you should be on the inner edge of the ring. Just run left or right in a circle and his ink shot will miss you but probably hit your pals. If you keep running you have just enough time to do a full combo on his head before he goes back to the middle.

Kind of annoying, I don't know why they gave us such a short time to hit him while stunned, and it doesn't even do a lot more damage than normal.

An interesting thing about this game is that every class can equip something out of every category. There probably aren't any shields of your level you can equip, but shields do exist that are usable by anyone.

Instead of walking past the ink shot, dodge roll it and begin charging a photon art mid roll animation. Then run to the back of the octopus and launch your photon art. Make sure you hit the base of the head as that's the weak point (The rest of the head can't even be targeted and you will clip through it). Melee arts should get as close to the inner edge of the ring as possible and ranged arts should be really lucky.

You should get to the octopus with enough time to finish your art and deal more damage than you could with a normal combo.

Do I really want to go on?

I did manage to get a Femini Mag Soul which I promptly used, and now my male Hunew looks as fruity as possibly, which is a good and hilarious thing.

But after two or so hours of this I honestly dont wanna go on with it, and just want to hop online.

I've heard that beating the Eternal Tower on Hard unlocks Super Hard difficulty/quests offline. (Super Hard available at 60 online regardless) But, just two hours for halfway through the tower reassures me, I thought it'd take way longer than that.
