My FOnewm's cane does more damage than his techniques by a large margin. It's unsettling.

Yep. Unlike PSO, all FO weapons to melee using MST instead of ATP. Also, grinding raises the MST bonus, making melee and Techs even stronger.
Forces eventually deal more melee damage than Hunters. Only problem is their defenses and ATA ...
Regardless, this was considered a serious balance issue by Japanese players. Supposedly, in the endgame high level play, Forces can do everything but take hits exceedingly well while Hunters are ineffectual by comparison.

My first character will be a HU regardless. You do get 3 character slots, however. If I don't enjoy the game I can always go back to PSO. Never did hit 200 with any one character.
I haven't played in like 4 years, going to mess around with a HUcast and a RAcast to figure out which I want to play.

Man, looking at some of the screenshots of this, it looks like PSO in portable form. I sunk hundreds of hours into PSO's single player, never even played it online.
Am I correct in that it is essentially PSO in pretty much every regard? Because if so, my life shall be taken over by it once more.
It pretty much is. It has some differences, such as weapons having special attacks and a better lock-on taken from PSU, but it's essentially a smaller version of PSO. I don't think it has as much to do as PSO did, but it's still a lot. I just call it PSO-Lite or PSO Diet.

It does, but due to Nintendo's thinking that everyone is a pedophile you can't do full chat with random people. You have to use the pre-set stuff. It's pictochat with friends, but I pretty much just ask anyone I'm playing with to get Ventrilo or Skype so we can just talk.

Well, that's not too bad. Looks like I'll be joining you gents tomorrow or Tuesday.
Holy crap did it kick my ass, the AI teammates aren't much help either. Also I learned to keep your pallete up to date, because it sucks when you run out of heals mid fight.

EDIT: and he is probably in the Alone mode
Pokeymanz: 0002-2940-9674
If he's in Alone mode, can't we join or something?
Just for fun, try forming a party
EDIT: Although, if he formed a party, and we could both join, this would fix the problem I assume

I can try joining, but I'm only level 12.

I was at lvl. 35 when I did it.
I just did this as well, I forgot I had not beat Falz yet on Normal, and was wondering why I couldnt access HardMode in online games I made..
Went thru and got the "Beat Falz in Under Two Minutes" title..was pretty happy about that.

The closest I got in PSO was 121 with my HUmar, then I got hacked. After that, I GameSharked all my characters up to 100 and duped mats out the wazoo.
