Are there any good guides to the EVE Economy or am I just going to have to take an Economics degree?
I've got an economics degree and it doesn't make much difference. It's pretty basic just find a hole in the market and fill it. Also, GTFO you filthy fucking spy.
I'm gonna go ahead and
a) Assume it is who I think it is
b) Say he probably isn't
Even in your own alliance; especially if you're in Goon. Benevolence exists, but if an alliance was going to give you a Nyx they'd give you the keys to the hangar and tell you to go get it yourself, not ask you for a few billion and tell you to eject.
Redded for falsehood. As a MerchI, I have no problem giving a Goon a courier contract with 0 collateral. Doing the same on a public contract is the same as giving your stuff away.

Me either, but good advice to a newbie is probably to avoid doing so unless you're sure and probably get advice from someone with a bit more experience as well. To be clear, once you're in corp, there are ironclad rules with dire consequences against scamming, shooting, or stealing from alliance members unprovoked. Serious business spaceship honour among goons, while much maligned, is probably the most trust and security you will ever enjoy with another individual in this game. Of course, there are plenty of goons who would still rip you off, whether because you pissed them off, they think they can justify it, or they simply don't plan on being goons for long and want to get every red cent they can get their hands on before they vanish in a shitstorm of drama and offlined r64s. In the latter situation, odds aren't good you have anything worth their time to steal but caution is still the best policy.

For example, as I write this, I'm waiting for this poor bastard who thinks he's going to be joining Goonswarm to cyno his carrier into the loving arms of our lurking capfleet. The little guy doesn't have Jump Drive Calibration properly trained, so it's taking several cynos and a lot of hijinks before we ambush and summarily execute him.
EVE is all about risk and reward to an extreme. More risk is more reward. It just depends on if you end up on the good or bad side of the outcome when you take said risk.
Just don't trust your alliance-mates until you're ACTUALLY in the alliance >=)

How long should I wait after joining Merch and registering to the Merch and Goonfleet forums before I get Goonfleet forum access ( I have Merch access)

Depends on when PWK or Midshipman get around to it. It took me a week or two.
I just applied to Merch.
I think I posted in here about it when my friends all got themselves killed and ragequit the game forever, leaving me with nobody to play with and no real drive to do anything besides just quit myself. I never checked back. It was a few months ago. I really really want to like this game though. Hopefully it will go better this time.
Okay, so this is my second trial. My first trial was horrible and apparently now EVE appears to be slightly more friendly towards new people, not that that's saying much.
So after doing some of the career advacement things, where do I go? Can I join Merch?
I put this in the general EVE thread, but I'll put it here too. I'm going to be signing up for this game soon, and if anybody wants the whole free time for new subscription thing, lemme know.

Sent you a pm, would someone explain to me what this free thing is about?

I think he means a PLEX. Moridin, assuming you have a PLEX or something that can be turned into a PLEX, you can *sell* those in game. Right now the going "sells pretty quickly rate" is well in the hundreds of millions of ISK range. Which is a nice warchest for getting into immediate GFs**.

I'm actually pretty sure he means one of those buddy invite things, wherein the buddy gets a 21-day trial rather than 14 days, and if he starts paying within like 2 weeks of the trial running out, you get a free month of game time.
If that's what he means, I still have one more buddy invite this month, PM me a valid email address if you haven't already got one from someone else.

Also, goons having grid loading issues as well? There seems to be some pretty game breaking problems regarding fleet fights right now.
The grid was loading in a reasonable time in the 9DQ/PXF fight, even when we jumped through a gate to ambush the IT fleet. Both systems were on petitioned nodes though.
We're still in delve, right? I stopped playing shortly after we skullfucked bob/kendoko/whatever and moved in. I just want to make sure I don't get podded right from the get-go.
Also, hows the farming in the area? I'm so used to killing angels that I really don't know what to do around delve, which is part of the reason I stopped(I need to make money to get into a battleship, so I can make money to do fun things :P)

Still in delve, if you fly Amarr, you will melt blood rats.

You can train more than just one race ya know, it doesn't take that long. I have Gallente, Caldari, and Amarr battlecruisers trained and I'll probably get Minmatar soon after I get Amarr battleships.
Its certainly easy for someone who's been playing for a while to say. I'm just getting extremely tired of "Ok, just these skills and now I can actually start ratting... wait, now I need this... wait, now I need this... "
I haven't been playing for awhile, I am poor and new as fuck and I don't have enough skills to comfortably rat yet. And you're always going to be going, "Okay now I can do this, oh wait I need to train this first, but I need to train this to train that, and I also need this, etc." It's just how it is.
Well once you get in there's still stuff you can do while waiting for your skills to train, you can follow ratters and salvage and loot wrecks, we've had a few mining ops you could join (I used my cruiser and while it's not a ton it's something and if it's a communist mining op you'll get paid for far more than you actually mined), plus you can always fly a rifter or a drake or a blackbird in fleet ops (since you fly Caldari). There's usually something to do, just ask around or check the fleet finder.
Yeah, so I think I might be coming back to EVE soon. I'm moderately terrified at all of the changes that have happened in my absence and fully expect to die horribly many times as I figure things out. My original run was from the founding of MRCHI to just shy of the official absorption into the swarm, so I've missed... well... a lot.
I remember during the fighting for 46dp we had a 50 person reinforcement fleet, and our scout announced that two russian ravens had just warped into the bob camp we were going to break through. I think it was sesfan or someone that had us get the 3 jumps or so fast as we could to "save them"
Ended up we spooked the rest of the bobbits away, and really it was the two russian ravens raping the entire camp on their own.

Like riding a bike it all comes back. I'll reapply for merch once I can get back to a friendly area that'll let me dock

I hear Drakes aren't bad for PvP but you probably want to train Amarr so you can use an Apoc or Harb or something to rat with.
