My original run was from the founding of MRCHI to just shy of the official absorption into the swarm, so I've missed... well... a lot.

Ravens are a fine ship for ratting -- maybe not quite as good as the Amarr ships, but still fine. You want to be doing EM or Thermal damage against the Blood Raiders, and tanking EM/Thermal.

If you're interested in fleet fights Ravens aren't so good, but I think that both the two other Caldari BS are useful.

Problem is that your missile skills that need training for ravens are of no use to a fleet sniper Rokh. If you have them, fine, but training them on a PvP character is slowing your development*.

Yes, but they do such deliciously nasty things to any vaga or recon pilot who thinks he can solo gank a ratting raven.

Besides, even before you were still counting on the mark being both stupid. Admittedly there's a lot of stupid to go around in EVE but you're betting on him being dumber then you, which is never a good bet so far as this game is concerned.

I don't understand why a separate corporation is needed. MerchI is already very casual, doesn't require PvP, and has no requirements other than "member of PA community". Assuming Deep Crow gains any significant membership, they will be people who somehow manage to fail that meager test.

This not entirely true, it also requires that you not do anything to raise suspicion with the Goonfleet Higher Ups.

This includes, logging on to the forums with different ip addresses, being afk, using the corp channel in teamspeak for ratting, and generally being a newbie apparently. Plenty of people will fail that just by logging in.

MERCHI was a lot of fun and so was Goonswarm, however, there is a lot of paranoia and meta-gaming, and it doesn't take much to raise suspicion and be booted for being a "spy"

Don't expect MERCHI to side with you either, they do as GF dictates, as do most of the Swarm.

I log on from lots of places. Home, work (which load balances over 5 outgoing lines), and various friends/relatives houses.

Haven't been bothered about it once.

Also, I finally have the ability to fly a harbinger, and being the stupid newbie that I am, I'm gonna go fly it around before I can fit the T2 hardeners. Takes 11 days before I have Hull Upgrades V and I can afford to buy a new one if it dies.

Gonna name it Comedy Lossmail just because that's probably what it will end up being.

T1 hardeners are fine for ratting (I assume that's what you're talking about). I rat with N-type hardeners, and I only have problems with neuting rats (where T2 would be worse), and some of the very high end spawns (triple Popes), where overheating my lows usually pulls me through long enough to kill one of the rats to get damage down to a more manageable level.

Yeah but I'm also bad at internet spaceships and am the kind of person who fails to notice the 15 reds who just entered local.

    Comedy Lossmail indeed.

Seriously though, T1 harbinger is still excellent, just be wary on the triple BS spawns. Avoid the neuting rats, watch local, run to a POS if necessary, make large amounts of cash to buy another Harbinger. It's all good.

Don't worry so bad about the neuting rats, but know which ones they are and orbit further out than they can reach. Fit beams instead of pulse and your radio will have an optimal of 33km - neuts don't reach that far, but you'll still do reasonable damage, save on cap (compared to multifreqs, anyway), and kick a fair amount of ass.

Pretty sure you have to have a full account to be able to buddy referral 21-day trials, that said, I've still got one such referral this month if you want it, just PM me an email address.

No clue if retrialing gets you fucked for MerchI, though I figure someone who knows the policy will show up in the thread sooner or later.
