If you all haven't seen this video you need to. Watch it here.
And if you want to skip to the good stuff, it is at the end. It looks... just... wow...
I'm probably in the minority here but I really do not give a flying fuck about some make-believe car that for all practical purposes is just a cheat code for the game. If I wanted silly shit like this I'd go play NFS or something. Just release the fucking game, sony.
What I mainly meant is look at the video of it racing around the track at the end. The beauty. It is incredible.
I would like to believe very much that we will have GT5 this year like Sony claims, but i'm really starting to have my doubts because they have been so quiet. They really should have announced something this week, I don't understand why they didn't. I'm just really impatient because i've been looking forward to playing this for so long now. I've been playing other video games of course, but it really doesn't fill the void when you are looking forward to a game this much and the hype and silence from Sony has been this crazy.
Naah, he needs full size cars and the boards from the Playstation chicane at Circuit de La Sarthe
Anyway I just received an e-mail from Amazon where they tell they are sorry for the delayed delivery of my GT5 order. This was expected but this bit may be of interest:
Estimated arrival date: December 17 2010
So maybe it will be Christmas this year after all :P
Isn't it the usual case of Japan getting first dibs on GT releases and the rest of the year gets their copies some months later? That's what happened with GT5P and GT4, so I very much doubt anywhere but Japan will be seeing it this year.
No, it's different this year. GT5 is coming out world wide at once. Last December I was so ready to import GT5 from Japan when it was announced that it would be coming out in Japan in March.
555,000 Copies of GT5 for France, New Launch Party Date
Also, GT5’s big Madrid launch party has a new date of November 24th/25th. As you may recall, the launch party was first scheduled for October 26th/27th. Considering the party was to be held exactly one week before the game’s intended worldwide launch, a release during the week of November 29th – December 3rd is beginning to look extremely likely. This release window aligns perfectly with what I’ve been told before and Sony’s own retail outlet, SonyStyle, who lists a launch date “on or around” November 30th for the game. Regardless, it’s becoming clear we don’t have much longer to wait.

Yeah I can barely distinguish it from real life.
Near the end of the video, the first clip of the car coming around the turn, i actually said to myself "Holy shit, that build that car in real life?!", but then in the second corner i said "Wait a minute..."
In real life on a 50" TV its probably not going to be convincingly realistic, but in that tiny window for a second it almost achieved photorealism, which is impressive.
Im definitely buying this game in launch day. Its been sooooo long. Ive been waiting since GT HD hit.
I am surprised this forum has managed to dodge all of the insane hype and speculation from the last few days.
I hate the fact that the person in the video has a pre-release copy and they are terrible at the game.
That's how it always works out. They are horrible at the game and to add injury to insult, they are always very reluctant to give details. If it was me, I just wouldn't say anything at all to anyone.

Everyones horrible at Gran Turismo! I'm horrible, you're horrible, America is horrible. I went to Otronicon and they had the whole setup with the wheel mounted to the car chair and it was full of dads and kids crashing into walls.
I suck at GT and I want this anyway. Like I wanted Forza 2 and GT4 before it, I bought them fully knowing I suck horribly at car sims. Any word on tutorials? I always preferred Forza because it draws you the line on the road.
I'd go detail crazy, because I know there are people out there who want to know. Youtube videos of the menus, track editor, customization, etc, not just a vanilla single race in an economy car.
GT5 has license tests and two racing schools (NASCAR and WRC) with commentary by racing professionals. There will be a racing line too, that you can turn off.
So according to @PatrickKlepek on Twitter, people have the game already someplace in Europe. Maybe they shouldn't have delayed the game so much? Was it an artificial delay, then?

I wonder how the "Cars of this make available for purchase at current level" bit is gonna end up working...
Gut instinct tells me to get the G27, but I'm not sure how vital the extra controls the Driving Force GT gets are.
The Fanatec is mostly a pipe dream. I can't justify its price tag, even when I figure in buying separate wheels for PS3/PC and 360.
I have the GT, and it's a fantastic wheel. The force feedback is incredible.
The G27 is a monster, but the stick is 6-speed only, so I'm not sure how that is going to work for a few supercars that have seven gears. The stick on the GT is sequential, but it's also mounted to the steering column, which is a little weird compared to the separate piece that the G27 comes with.
Both of the wheels have butterfly shifters though.
One item that definitely sets the G27 apart is an actual clutch, and the pedals are made of steel instead of plastic like the GT.
Because of the separate stick shift piece, I'd honestly avoid getting a G27 unless you have a playseat or homemade alternative. It's a truly awesome wheel, but unless you have a place to mount your center console in a position where you would expect a center console to be it'll feel awkward.
The good news is, no matter which wheel you get, there are a bunch of other games that support their various features (900° rotation, force feedback, six speed shifter) on the PS3, PS2, and PC. There is a list for both the Driving Force GT and the G27.
It's a stolen disc from the pressing factory seems to be the most reasonable explanation. Copies are being shipped out to retailers now too and it is possible that employees in other countries are bringing these copies home. A lot of these countries have pretty relaxed copyright laws. :X
Seriously, somebody please explain the 69.99 wheel. I'm about to buy this but the coupon says 30$ rebate and the wheel's not on the list, and Amazon.com lists the wheel as 129.99.

Cars actually moving off their racing line? Is this still GT? :P
My speculation on this is that the A.I. drivers in A-Spec mode and Arcade Mode use the system from B-Spec Mode. So in the early races of A-Spec they are not going to be as skilled of drivers. They won't drive exactly on the line and will make mistakes. If you lower the difficulty in Arcade Mode, they will do the same.

I was trying to be sarcastic. They did actually say that they would be making the cars drive a bit more realistically, instead of sticking to the racing line like glue.
It seems contacting amazon might get them to right the price. I will however try to give Amazon a call myself later on to see if i can help you guys out. One minute its 99 and then 129.99, seems shady.

Then, once GT5 is released, we could challenge the Forza 3 thread to a little gentlemanly interforum competition in the form of time trial contests?
Great idea or dumb idea?
