It sounds like the GT5 delay may've been because of the Stig troubles of at Top Gear/BBC. Apparently the Stig Challenges mode has been changed to Top Gear Challenges and he doesn't make an appearance at all.
i actually thought that when it was first mentioend that they'd changed the name of the challenge. would it have been that much of a priority though - especially considering the identity of 'the stig' is pretty arbitrary? i don't think so, but then i'm not a huge top gear fan, and i know it holds a lot of weight for a lot of people
They've replaced The Stig with a new Stig for the next season, so I'm not sure how that could have happened.
BBC had a tantrum? I dunno, but it seems to be the most plausible reason for the delay, given the changes and all.
Well when they replaced the last stig, they went from black to white, I imagine with the new stig he will then change colors (colours, RDRR) again? mayhaps?

Nah, he was 'unveiled' online and it's still white, though there are the small differences.

Is this game coming out this year (or indeed this decade)? I have this on my Xmas list, but I'm not holding up hopes of seeing it on the stores anytime soon.

almost certainly. it's actually ready to sell in some regions; the delay in information looks to be more or less awaiting some worldwide synchronisation, as was originally promised. not sure that's going to work out though. i have a feeling ultimately it'll be on shelves in europe at the end of this month and NA early december
I still see GT5 coming out in North America first. But only by a day. Sony isn't going to make its biggest market wait that would be just insane. The release date leaks are coming from small retailers that could careless. I bet anything Amazon and Gamestop know when this game is really coming out, but they are not going to say because Sony doesn't want them to.
Seriously, I expect people in North America will start getting their copies next Friday. If Sony doesn't say something tomorrow then don't expect an announcement period. The game will just ship and we'll figure it out on our own. I'm almost 95% certain we will be playing this on November 23rd.

It's not like North America waiting an extra week or two for a world wide release would cost them any more sales than the massive development time already has.

It would cost me my fucking sanity though. But either way this isn't happening and tonight theres been rumors going around (at least on GAF, so take that as you will) that Sony is ready to finally announce a date (the 23rd for NA), tomorrow morning at the earliest.

Uh, considering Europe is Gran Turismo's biggest market, why on earth would Sony prioritise the US?
And yeah, I read the same GAF rumour but didn't bother posting it in case it turned out to be fake.

By 5 million copies, it turns out. Big deal. It is still really silly to believe for even a split second that Sony plans on all of a sudden spreading the release out by a few weeks based on region. They are going to stick to their original plan of having it out world wide within the same week.
Well yeah, the probable reason why Sony's been so bloody quiet on GT5 is because they've been trying to co-ordinate a new worldwide release across all their regions. The 23rd doesn't sound farfetched so lets hope it's true.
Nice to see the Hyundai Coupe/Tiburon/Tuscani still in there. Now to figure out which version is nearest my own car.
Although, I see one... well, three omissions that are somewhat stupidly left out considering one of the tracks; the Suzuki Liana, the Chevrolet Lacetti, and the Kia Cee'd.

Why the hell do they have FOUR EG body style civic SiR's, but they dont have the EF body style SiR (again. I dont think theyve had the EF body since GT1 or maybe 2)???? Its exactly the same as the CRX from the B pillar up, so theyve already got the model more than 50% done I just want to drive my car in a racing sim made this century, i dont think thats asking too much.
Im also guessing that the "P" denotes cars which gets interiors modeled. Thats fairly disappointing if so.
Exactly. I was expecting to beat or match Forza at the very least. Forza has a pretty much spot on replica of the Datsun 510 dashboard. GT5 isnt even going to have the Datsun 510. For 1031 cars, thats kind of disappointing, both in terms of whats been made "premium" and whats been left off the list.
I think this is my favorite comment from that list:
What?!? Only 51 Skylines?!? Surely Nissan fans must be devastated…
I mean, i know its a GT game, but still, there isnt too much im getting excited over on that list. Then again, im probably not the best person to ask since my favorite part about racing sims is taking cars i can actually afford or have driven/owned (read: slow ass cars) and ripping them around a track as fast as possible. The Ferraris and Lambos and Skylines do absolutely nothing for me since i have no idea what driving those cars actually feel like in real life.
Im still going to buy this game on launch day, without a doubt.

Same, I still plan on buying it but man Forza 3 really spoiled me with the in-car views.
The ones that do exist for this game better be really something then. Otherwise it's going to be really odd switching from hood to in-car all the time.
The main thing for me was that the game feels great to drive, and in this regard, Gran Turismo 5 completely succeeds. So everything else doesn't matter to me, even though i'll admit i'm disappointed in the track list and car list. I've played the GT5 demo thats been shown off this year, and it felt great. The driving physics are vastly improved over Prologue.
The cockpit views in GT5 that do exist, blow away anything in Forza 3 though. This is some extremely detailed, photo realistic stuff that GT5 pulls off. Forza 3 might have over 230 more cars with cockpit views, but GT5 does it better.

Yeah, the in car views in GT5P are just amazing, and they look even better from the trailers in the full game.
Easily puts to shame Turn 10s in car views. They look so damn realistic texture and lighting wise.
Turn 10's kinda look fake and plastic like to me, but that depends on the car.

If Turn 10 took 6 years to do it, I'm guessing they could get in the same ballpark. Just saying :P

Tell me about it. After that much time PD's in car views damn well better!
Have you noticed in the new DLC cars Turn 10 put out, the interiors are much better.

I really wish they'd release the LFA as DLC; I want to see how they modeled the dash on that, it being LCD and all.

That pretty much sells it for me. If I want clutch and 6-speed, I'll go out and drive my real car.

My car is sort of on the list, if you consider that the Civic Si in America is called the Type/R in Japan.
We only get the 2004 Ibiza Cupra.
2004 Ibiza Cupra
2010 Ibiza Cupra
2004 Leon Cupra
2010 Leon Cupra
The Leon is much sportier with it's turbo, and the 2010 Ibiza comes with a twincharger. The 2004 not so, iirc.
