Is there any way to delay the next race for a week? If not I will definitely not be there as my house is being invaded by family on the 26th and I won't have any time to fire up the PS3. The 2nd of Jan should be much better for me. Just putting that out there.
It turns out I'm actually going to be with some family later on today as well.
Is anyone else going to be MIA for the race today? If so, delaying for a week wouldn't be a bad idea.
I'll be able to race today, but I'd rather have as many people turn up as possible, so I'd vote for delaying it.

Over Christmas, I’ve received a lot of questions about the free “Christmas gift cars” which were announced by Sony Japan a few weeks ago. As it turns out, the three free cars, which consisted of a Lamborghini Murcielago LP 640, Jaguar XJ13, and a BMW M3 Coupe, were only made available in the Japanese PSN Store. Even if you have a Japanese PSN account, the cars can only be used with an actual Japanese copy of the game.
I think so; I've seen Jay Leno's Tank Car show up in there before, so I think it's fair game if it's a standard model. It just that certain cars are rarer than others; before the online car dealership showed up, you'd be extremely lucky to find a Formula Gran Turismo, whereas the Nissan Skyline Midnight Purple II seems to show up every 100 cars or so.

Any tips for the second set of Bonus Races? I swear to God I cannot beat them no matter how well I tune my cars.
I received this game for Christmas and just bought the Chevrolet Camaro. I love this car so much.
I think my only complaint about the game, though, is that they've modeled the interior of these cars with incredible detail but you can't look around that interior view with a standard controller. That kind of defeats the point. I might get an EyeToy so I can use head-tracking, although I've read you're better off not using it and that it can only be used in the Arcade mode. Can anyone confirm those two points?

For the first three of the new set, I'm certain I shortened the gears by 2-3 notches on each. The RX-7 race, I shortened them to about 140 mph on an RX-7 Spirit R Type A, and even then it was close. I think I was lapping around the 1'00" mark, and not having much room to go slower. Fortunately, the CPU got held up behind traffic on the final lap.
The Focus one at Madrid, I definitely remember changing the suspension settings to stop it understeering.
Haven't tried the final race yet, mainly because NASCARs on the Nordschleife just sounds like a bad idea to me.

You can't use the eyetoy in GT Life mode though. However, goto the options menu and in the controller section you'll find a option to turn on looking left/right in the interior view. Which is really odd because looking around with the controller ends up being exactly the same as with the headtracking.

Question, how do cars become available? Are the dealership vehicles right off the bat the full list of cars or is there a reason there's no 90's era stock Supra in the Toyota group?

The Dealership vehicles are all the premium vehicles, newly modeled in extreme detail new for this game. The Used Car Dealership sells Standard vehicles which are taken from from GT4's models, and are generally where all the older cars are.
See, the used cars are all old models, and the new cars are all new models, so it's like some kind of subconscious hint as to where to look for what
I got this for Christmas, as well as a Logitech wheel (I'm an adult, haha) and hooked it up; after playing for a day I've got to say, the actual driving in this game is really damn fun. The way that the wheel reacts to the game is extremely engaging, I don't even see how playing with a controller is possible, as I use soft braking, or throttle control constantly as if I were driving a real car.
My setup is that I have the wheel attached directly to the TV stand that holds my 35 inch LCD TV, so when I get hit by a car, or ram into the sides of the course it actually shakes (slightly) - it's really damn fun.
The menu system is horrific - it looks fine, and the layout is decent, but it just takes way too long for all the loading. They really need to give you the ability to do everything without having to load until you've chosen a race.
Newbie Questions:
So now that I've gotten my A and B license, and beaten a bunch of the beginner and ameature races, I'm trying to figure out what to do next - I've run a bunch of cars, but I feel like there isn't much to do with the cars that I really like and have built up - I have an STI that I've put a lot of work into, but have only raced it once or twice because all the races are so specialized - is there a set of good races to run that are based on car class? I don't want to forget all about my STI and start driving Ferraris instead; is there a way that I can keep racing a certain "class" of cars where the competition continues to improve?
Just kind of trying to figure out what to do next - either way, this game is pretty slick
Say I want to race go-carts with my wife on split-screen. How would I do that?
Go into your garage in GT Life and set the Kart as a favorite, then go to arcade and you can select the Kart for any track you want, except the snow and dirt ones.
Has anyone used a clutch in this game yet? It can be annoying when it doesn't let you shift as fast as you want.
Getting upgrades is nice, but I was wondering if anyone knew a car that shifted unusually fast that I could get.
Is there a 'best' model of Mini Cooper to use for that damn bonus race? I am using the S '07 and I am simply not eating up enough time per lap to catch up to the first four places. I definitely have it geared at low as it can go.

I've been 2 engaged in Just Causes and Dead Risings to play GT5 lately. But I found out my coworker has a nice wheel setup and I've become excited to play again. Man, I want to get a wheel. Do any of you guys use a bucket seat in addition to a wheel?

Could someone please lend me a truck so as I can finally finish off the amateur series?
I haven't been bothered to get mine from licenses yet, and haven't seen one pop up in the online dealership when I actually have the cash on hand to get one. PSN is in my sig. Also, I'm at work, so I may not use it for another 12 hrs or so
What car do people give their B-Spec guy to race in the pro world cup event? I tried giving my guy the Veyron, but he can't handle the power!! Also, his opponents are always racing fucking race cars that blitz him if he uses my lamborghini gallardo that I have tuned for the lambo and supercars races. I fear I may have to wait until I can get a F1 car or some shit just to give him a fighting chance.
My PSN is kog667...I'd like to start getting into the online races a bit...do I need to specifically purchase cars online to use online, or do my single player ones work online?

Also, my birthday was the 20th. I was born in '77, so I got the '77 Lancia Stratos Rally Car.
I. LOVE. THIS. CAR.

So this 19 minutes left message is actually going to be up for another 19 minutes?
Or am I experiencing a rare problem where it freezes there? The "Installing..." message keeps blinking...
EDIT: Nope, never mind, it just went down!

Going from silver in the first two races without much difficulty to this is just.... strange.

Is there a way to alter the response characteristics of the brake button if I map it to left trigger? I can't find anything in the options.

I believe what you need to do is first create a go-kart track in the track editor and then access it from the 2-player option in arcade mode.
Go into your garage in GT Life and set the Kart as a favorite, then go to arcade and you can select the Kart for any track you want, except the snow and dirt ones.

It's decently modded, so you shouldn't have any trouble with the truck races, but keep an eye out for the Tacoma.
edit: Actually, I thought you were on my friend's list already, but you aren't. I can't send the truck until you accept my friend request.
Thx, I'll give my missus a call and if she ever answers the phone, i'll have her accept invite.
