My PSN is kog667...I'd like to start getting into the online races a bit...do I need to specifically purchase cars online to use online, or do my single player ones work online?
There's some cars that are available online for anyone to use, although I don't think you can do much to them. However, if you want to use the cars from your own garage, you have to set them as favourites; you have room for 100 total, which can then be used online or in Arcade mode, complete with all the upgrades you've added to them.

I'm about to fire up my PS3, I'll ship you out my F150.
It's decently modded, so you shouldn't have any trouble with the truck races, but keep an eye out for the Tacoma.
edit: Actually, I thought you were on my friend's list already, but you aren't. I can't send the truck until you accept my friend request.
Thx, I'll give my missus a call and if she ever answers the phone, i'll have her accept invite. Otherwise I will accept tonight when I get home.
The truck is in the mail.
I won the truck series in A-Spec at stock, it was pretty easy with the F150 (it's faster than the SSR and the Ram, which might as well be a semi truck since it has the aerodynamic resistance of a brick wall), but the Tacoma was constantly filling my mirror for the entire Laguna Seca race. I was blocking every step of the way. Daytona was a walk in the park though.
However, since my B-Spec driver is usually too busy eating paste and thinking about ice cream sandwiches to win any of his races I had to tune the truck a little bit. So now it's 710hp and light as a feather, and he still barely won at Laguna Seca.
The best tires it has are sports/hard though, so keep that in mind when you do the A Spec races. I beat it with the truck stock on comforts though, so it should be a cakewalk with the truck now.
Who decided that the Formula GT series will unlock at level 23, but the Formula GT car can't be bought until level 24?
Cos they need a slap. In the face.
I come here begging on the off chance someone will loan me a car to win the Historic Cup in the Expert series. I have nothing that will beat that damn Toyota '70. I'm stuck at lvl 20 1/2 and can't get any further Think I should be doing the seasonal races. Do they give exp as well as credits? Thanks. Also if I could be added to the PSN roster, Bloodycow, that would be awesome!

The seasonal bonus races give beaucoup XP! I made it from around 20 to 24 mostly on those races alone.
played online last night...it's so fucking hard to find races that aren't full of retards who drive backwards, or where people aren't using Zondas and Veyrons.
I use a ~550HP '88 Toyota Supra, people...gimme a break. Though, it does feel good when it passes NASCAR cars.

Thanks mate. I'll get them sorted tonight when I get home.
I usually have to tune the shit out of my cars so my Bspec guy will have a shot at winning. So much money wasted on him hehe.
The Ferrari 458 Italia might be the best stock car in the whole game. Even with regular tires the stability, acceleration and handling on that care are so money. My goodness I love that car, and this coming from someone who also has 787bs, Formula Gts and even Touring Cars.
Thanks to GT5 I now completely and thoroughly hate Nascar. I feel that this is a good thing.
Fuck those challenges! I barely passed the beginner, and only with a silver on the second challenge. Intermediate is just impossible. I am impressed with the skill involved, though.

Turn ABS off entirely
for some reason, it just fixes them
then you can hate NASCAR when you do the actual races, those cars are shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit
I managed to gold the Cooper bonus race. Apparently toning down the TCS to around 2 made all the difference. I probably could have turned it all the way off. Also, totally cheating on the entrance to the octagonal turn there helps loads. :-) Brake just enough to aim through the grass and it's all golden.
I earned a Dodge Ram truck and maxed the crap out of it. Doing 165mph on the Daytona track. Now even my idiot driver A. Gay won by more than 12 seconds.
This after R. Gay ran it into the wall.
Almost fell out of my chair at work after reading this.
Thanks for the laugh, I needed it :^:

I was having so much trouble with the supercar race in Pro until I realised that I was using shitty shitty tyres. Once I changed them to racing soft (was using sports hard) got the slides under control, no more drifting in corners. Was just tops.
Also, Leguna Seca frustrates the shit outta me. That last corner before the finish line always catches me out, and my B-Spec guy can't overtake anyone on that track for shit unless I pimp the cars so much he gets infront after 2 corners.
My B-Spec driver does the majority of his overtakes at Laguna Seca on the long straight coming up to the corkscrew.
He then does the majority of his ridiculous off-track screwups on the sharp turn immediately following the corkscrew.
I'm starting to wonder if the "Tryouts for becoming a Gran Turismo managed driver" and the "Signups for Freshman Driver's Education Class" rooms were accidentally mislabeled/switched, thus creating the incredibly talentless hiring pool that we have to choose from when we take on new B-Spec drivers.

My biggest gripe with the B-Specs is that they don't drive to the cars potential. I know for a fact that my Ferrari on the ferrari only race track in Pro doesn't need to slow down, due to how I had it spec'd on the long sweeping right hand corner after the almost full stop bit at the end of the straight. Yet my B-Spec guy is not doing top speed at any point during it.
It may have something to do with the speed stat in their profile, but if I keep hammering increase pace he should have his foot on the floor trying to push it through to the ground beneath.
I'm going to have to skip the Pro world cup race until I can get the B-Spec guy up to lvl 24 and get him a race car, he just can't win, even with the Veyron
All my B-Spec drivers are now at level 31, and I'm almost comfortable putting them in similar cars to the opponents now; I finally got the NASCAR championship completed (although that required searching for the right tuning for each race), now it's just the two 24 hour races, and Formula GT World Championship to go.
I might have to do some more searching before doing the latter, though, because they definitely need the car set up more perfectly than Jenson Button does. 0.01º of toe angle out? Whoops, down to 7th you go.

I hate the Nascar stuff so much. I can't imagine what would count as a fun Nascar game to me, but this definitely isn't it.
Jeff Gordon you motherfucker. Playing this is like walking through a scorching desert with a camel's sweaty ballsack bouncing in your face with every step.

Hears some more fuel for you. My father, who actually likes NASCAR relayed to me that Jeff Gordon had a lot of fun doing the voice over work for the game and hoped next time he got to do more.
My big issue with B-Spec is that I have to sit there and watch A. Bender fail so hard. He does ok most of the race (he's only level 1), but then he goes off the road slightly and stops. He comes to a full stop. 0 mph for at least one second before turning back onto the road, and continuing on his path.
What is the deal A. Bender!??! You're a robot! You can do this!
I've been playing this game since Christmas and isn't as fun as the previous GTs. There are too many restrictions on the Aspec races so you're constantly buying and upgrading new cars which costs a lot so you don't make any headway. Bspec is unbearable I don't know how you guys do it. And all that without mentioning the terrible menus and load times.
The frustrating part is the actual racing is great. The physics and graphics are superb. But they're stuck inside a game with questionable design decisions. I'll keep playing it maybe it will open up later on.
So going through Intermediate GT Rally racing and using my Impreza from our race a few weeks ago just tuned down. In the snow rally I end up winning by about 2 minutes and there were several sections where I passed 2 of the 3 cars and was creeping up on the 3rd.

Yeah, I love the racing and the presentation - they're amazing - but I'm wondering if I'm going to have to start grinding races soon to get anywhere.

I agree with this except not the graphics part. Certainly there are some very shiny cars with lots of polygons (although the classic ones don't look so hot), but the environments, which you spend most of your time looking at, are usually really bland and sometimes a bit shitty on the details. I've been playing this and Dirt 2 at the same time, and that game has astonishingly beautiful, vivid, artistically designed courses. I guess their subject matter gives them a lot more leeway, but still.

Shift up when your RPMs just start to redline, shift down if your RPMs get too low...it's kind of a balancing game just keeping your revs up.
This is teh first game I used one in and practice mode helped me tons.
Thanks, and are there advanced guides on the interwebs to keep me on top of things? Like how to shift in corners and such?

I'm firing A. Bender immediately!
Also: I really really hope they update it so we can go through B-Spec from a browser soon. That would make so much so easy.
