Motherboard - no fan power connectors, alternatives?

AiranAiran Registered User regular
I was replacing the motherboard in my sister's computer with a new one, only to find that it hasn't ANY fan power connectors whatsoever (ok, it has the CPU fan, but that is it). What the loving fuck? This is the first mobo I've ever bought/seen that has skimped out on such an essential thing, not even one measly fan power connector.

Is there any alternative method to connect the 2 fans onto the motherboard/PSU? They're 80mm fans with 3-pin(hole) connectors. Otherwise I'll probably try and return the mobo.

I should've read the description more closely, but as they say, hindsight is 20/20.

You can buy molex (the connectors used on IDE drives) splitters that have an extra connector for 3 pin fans.

    Something like

    Monoprice has some splitters here.

I think the first couple might work with your fans. I think.

That second review on the newegg link is hilarious. The dude gave it only 3 eggs for requiring a molex connector when he only has SATA. Saying a product is bad for being exactly what it says it is and doing it well is dumb.

Well thanks guys, but I decided to return the thing, since I can get another mobo for cheaper, and it even has one System fan connector! :P
Oh, and Ebuyer don't sell these splitters (their catalogue is getting smaller and smaller everytime I visit...) and it was just better to get another mobo than deal with the bullshit.

I actually checked out your board on newegg's fancy zoom in view, just in case it was hiding and you were missing it. The board actually has the leads for it already, right next to the cpu fan. They just cheaped out and didn't put the connector on for some reason.
