It's a Christmas issue, but that's really the only thing special about it. It's worth the extra cash though.

k I picked it up, but I forgot that I didn't pick up #55 yet

does this issue have anything to do with it? Normally I'd assume so, but since this one's supposed to be about Santa, I'm not sure

No, it's more or less a separate story from the rest of the book. You should be ok reading this one without having read 55 yet.

American Born Chinese and the JLU Christmas issue were touching like nothing I've read in a while. Is the rest of the JLU series that good?

I think they came out yesterday, but a few shops got new stuff today. So it's all out.

P.S. Get Annhilation this month, sooooooo good.

It hits and misses. There have been some really touching issues and some issues that beat you in the face with the moral, and some that are really just pretty fun stories. They're all just single issues things and are written a bit more towards kids than the show ever was, so the plot never gets too twisted. But if you just want a fun little story now and then, I think they're all right.

    Ah..

So its disrespectful of me to post in a old thread entitled "HO HO HO! NEW COMICS FOR XMAS!" and to promote a book that is drawn by Norm Breyfogle, and encourage people to support there comic shops?

I didn't realize there was a limitation to the "HO HO HO! NEW COMICS FOR XMAS!" time line, seeing as we are coming up on Christmas although be it the following year. I apologize profusely, and sincerely hope that you guys will continue to support this dying industry.

Perhaps you can both give me some pointers to promote a new indy book then? As I do not want to piss off anyone else.

    Thanks for your time

Well again I apologize, for promoting a book that I'm involved in BUT I figured since the title of the Post was "HO HO HO! NEW COMICS FOR XMAS!" I figured it would be acceptable.

Again I ask in all seriousness "What would you do to promote a new book" my friend.

    Thanks

Just keep all of your promoting in one thread. At most, a thread for each book.

This was the weekly comics thread from Christmas of last year.

Thats it? So how are you supposed to spread the word if you are only in ONE thread?
    Do you see my point.

Who is reading that one thread? NO ONE.

The industry is slowly dying, I'm just trying to help keep it alive. But again I'm getting off topic.

The title of the thread seemed to be a good place to post about an upcoming Indy title.

The point of this is to spread the word of a new book. What are your ideas to help DouglasDanger?

It's not our fault if there's no interest in the book.

You get a thread, if people aren't interested, tough shit.

Just because you are making a book doesn't give you the right to whore it out whenever you want, your (incredibly obnoxious) signature and that thread should be enough.

Take Manifest for example, he had that Dropkick Detectives book, it wasn't a huge hit, but some people here bought a copy or two. He had a signature, avatar and one thread and it worked fine.

Don't come in expecting everyone to go nuts over a book that looks average from the previews.

Also, don't use the "comics industry is dying a slow death and I'm saving it" excuse.

Your one book isn't going to revitalize the industry in any noticeable way.

Not to mention that trying to "save the industry" by telling us to buy comics doesn't really make a lot of sense.

    Hoooooooraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

t Mad!, Hey man - I see your point. Obviously you're special so you should be able to break all the rules and act like a retard wherever you go. I firmly believe that the comics industry needs to be 'saved', and idiots like you are the ones to do it!

    Wow, At ease solider,
I'm not looking to upset anyone I think you misunderstood.

    1. I NEVER said that its anyones FAULT for anything
    2. I'm sorry if my signature offends you.
    3. Drop kick detectives? Never heard of it BUT I will be sure to look it up. Is it still being published?
    4. I didnt "come here expecting everyone to go nuts over" the previews. BUT NORM Breyfogle DID revitalise BATMAN when it had slumping sales.
    5. I'm not saying I'M REVITALIZING the industry, but the fact is the industry IS dying.

I don't understand all the animosity? I mean Id like to think I'm doing my part supporting the industry, I run my own comic shop and am involved with publishing comics. And when I try to promote it I'm getting all this hate. Is this healthy for the industry?

I'm sincere in trying to get your opinions on promoting a book

The opinion is - This is a Forum that has Rules which are to be followed if you do not wish to be removed from the forum. The derision and ridicule (at least on my part) is simply because I lack the power to ban you outright and find myself terribly disappointed by that fact.

So, hey, act like you want to be part of the Forum and maybe you'll find less hatin'

BUT the title of the post is
HO HO HO! NEW COMICS FOR XMAS!
Dangers Dozen will be OUT for CHRISTMAS. I didn't think it mattered that it was from last year.

And its ok to curse people off but not to promote a book under what seems to be a valid thread?
Are you sure thats in the rules?

And so AGAIN I apologize for offending you guys. But If you want to keep cursing me off thats fine.
As I stated before I THOUGHT this was a valid thread for talking about a book due out around Christmas. Guess I needed to stop Thought-ing and start thinking. LOL

Necroposting is generally frowned upon unless you have something important to bring to the discussion.

The news that The Order has been canceled is a good reason to revive The Order thread. You promoting your comic isn't a good reason to revive a year-old Christmas thread.

Also, you have 20 posts at most, and you are already breaking 2 rules(Sig size and Necroposting) and the self-whoring isn't breaking a rule yet, but is aggravating.

My advice is to stop whoring out so much, trim the sig and become an active part of the GV community before you start doing stuff like this.

Necro posting... So is there a time limit. I mean it seems the way of the world nowdays. Oh no my DVD player is a year old. May as well trash it and get a new one.

I thank you all and apologize for my newbie mistakes. I usually don't have time to go on forums and chats seeing as I run my own comic shop and am putting out my own book. Time is hard to find. Not to mention trying to spread the word on the comic as well.

I'm trying to become part of the community, I've had a warm welcome so far. One could say a HOT welcome.

Do you have any other advice for me?
