I'm starting to think that Rucka's biggest problem is that his writing is a bit uneven as he starts new things. Issues 1 and 2 were kind of choppy, issue 3 was a lot better, and issue 4 was just fantastic. Can't wait for the next three. Wondering if Question as the main feature will see somewhat of a slow start, as well.
Giant Clayface squaring up to huge Bat-bot controlled by levers and buttons. Just one of the many, many strange and wonderful things in Gotham After Midnight.
I have a sudden urge to post more of them in the awesome panels thread.

After reading the recent issues of the books that are out now, a lot of the things that are happening are making more sense.
Yeah, hey, serious spoilers; you were warned.
Batman and Robin are not working well together yet; they seem to really dislike each other in fact.
No one is taking Tim seriously, indeed they all seem to want to recommend a good psych. This isn't helped by the fact that Dick seems to have enlisted all of Tim's friends to talk to him about it first. All of a sudden he loses the Robin role and Dick didn't even seem to have consulted him about it first either.
Tim doesn't even seem to have any proof of his assertion that Bruce lives, and it weirds him out the most. Inspiration is funny like that.
Cassandra is still holding up to the Bat ideal, but when Batman doesn't seem to want to be Batman, Robin is a ruthless and relentless asshole, The former Robin seems to be suffering denial combined with unstable mental states combined with being kicked to the curb, and the whole thing seems to be falling apart... I don't blame her for giving Stephanie Brown the costume.
Stephanie promised Tim she would stop being Spoiler, but after Cassandra gives her the costume she sees a way to continue to do what she feels driven to do without breaking her promise; how could she not take it? Of course, this is bringing her into direct conflict with the wishes of every other member of the extended bat clan except Cassandra; but when is that a new thing?

The biggest problem I have with Dick being Batman is that no one actually wants him to be Batman. Bruce didn't want it, he didn't want it, and he's trying so hard to be Batman that he's not doing nearly as much as he should be. When he meets up with the Joker, the Joker should basically just laugh in his face, and then drop a crowbar on him before leaving.

Didio is just setting up Dick to pull a Jean Paul and have crazy awesome Bat-armor and then go just crazy, and he kills Damien and then Bruce kills Dick and that way Didio finally gets his wish and gets rid of Dick and Bruce is back, but this time it's different.

I'd buy it, as long as it has Bat Armor. I loved that suit.

There will not be Bat armor. Dick is an acrobat, and as it is he thinks the costume is too heavy and can't stand the cape on the costume.

As far as I understand it, nobody who is anybody actually thinks he's Batman, so instead of helping, he's kind of diluting the whole fear effect.

Uh, I'm pretty sure only Gordon knows/suspects, and Riddler knows from Sirens.

Yeah, it's not like Batman's villains actually fear him. I mean, sure they're fear him in a "oh dang we're gonna lose this fight" kind of way, but not in the way that average criminals fear him.
And I mean, they should fear Nightwing in the same way

Exactly and the average criminals will never notice the difference between Bruce and Dick, so I really don't see how Dick's diluting anything.
Sure there's differences between the characters, Dick's detective work isn't as good and his fighting style has more flair to it (which the artists have done well depicting) but I don't see how anyone could be complaining that he somehow doesn't deserve to be Batman. It's not like he's never fought Joker (or the rest of the Bat villains) before, so saying "Joker should just laugh and beat him with a crowbar" is one of the dumbest things I've heard.

I didn't say beat him with a crowbar. I said "drop a crowbar on him" Like they're climbing out of the sewer or whatnot, and Joker just drops the thing on him and that's how he escapes.

*snort* Yeah, Joker isn't good enough to take Dick on. Hasn't been since Disk was what, 13?
Edit: And if anything, Joker would want to know what happened to the old Batman. His whole goal in life seems to be to get Batman to lighten up.
Hence why I said the conversation would essentially be Joker laughing about the fact that Dick being Batman was something no one wants, and then going all serious because most importantly, it's not what Joker wanted, either.

I'm looking forward to seeing Morrison do justice to the character after everything he's been through up until now. Also, I'm glad he didn't drag the mystery out.

I hope he stays around. There are a lot of stories that could be told featuring Red Hood as a kind of pulp vigilante with guns and a cape, sort of Batman crossed with the Shadow/Punisher or whatever. Get him out of Gotham, put him somewhere else. But I guess that would mean Batman fails, since Red Hood is a killer and everything.

Jason killed cops though in B&R #3 (and they weren't even crooked cops, just normal cops), so the bitch needs some retribution on his stupid twittered face.
Well damn. I was really hoping it wouldn't be him under the Red Hood. I'm sure that Morrison had this planned out, and it would have been a lot better if he hadn't been the antagonist of Battle for the Cowl. Still, I'm sure it will be an excellent story.

Isn't Joker a lot smarter than Dick? I've never gotten the impression that Dick is close to Batmans intellectual level and Joker is capable of outthinking Bats. Dick (really needs to change his name, sick of writing Dick) only knows how to flip about and mope and have sex with all superheroines.

Fencingsax: Because Dick's dumb enough not to look out for Joker?
You really sound like you're actually envious of Dick being Batman, which is bizarre to say the least.
*it probably doesn't scare him
If there's a question mark afterwards, it's a bloody question, not a statement. Not fair game douchebag.
DarkWarrior: If you're too homophobic to say Dick, just call him Richard or Grayson.
He started going by Richard in Peter Tomasi's Nightwing run.
It's not that hard to use spoilers.
