Starting in June, BATMAN BEYOND — a six-issue mini-series from writer Adam Beechen (who’s no stranger to animated characters, having worked on The Batman series a few years back) and artist Ryan Benjamin — will pit the future Dark Knight against his own past, as a dangerous force has begun to target Bruce Wayne’s old foes. Can Wayne’s past put Terry’s future in danger?
Not sure, gang. Let’s check in with Adam Beechen himself. Take it away, Adam:
“The dark future of the legendary animated series comes to the DCU in a six-issue miniseries, as Terry McGinniss, Bruce Wayne’s young successor as Batman, faces his deadliest foe yet — a mystery murderer from the Dark Knight’s past! Old faces return, new allies and enemies step into the light, and the partnership between Terry and Bruce — not to mention Terry and Bruce themselves — might not survive!”
Fuck.
That art is pretty sexy, though. Dustin Nguyen really can do no wrong in my book, and it's nice that he got to do the cover after putting this on his DeviantART:

My biggest problem with Oberon is that it basically makes Gotham look even dumber than the usual "Let's have a cat/bird/comedian/two themed bank/store/museum exhibition!" variety.

Didn't buy the book, just skimmed through, but Black Mask was
Josiah Arkham or whoever, who I thought was the Jester
I've mentioned before that I think Catgirl could be kind of an iconic name, internet connotations aside. So I'm a little disappointed to see it used with a character that seems destined to be a throwaway.
It would continue the trend of the other writers not knowing anything about what Morrison is doing.
Sounds plausible.
i am basing this hypothesis entirely on the first line of dialogue we ever hear from oberon sexton
"Excuse us everybody. The solution to the riddle of corn dollie will have to wait."
Nope, points to Batman again.
From wiki:
Corn dollies are a form of straw work made as part of harvest customs of Europe before mechanisation.
Before Christianisation, in traditional pagan European culture it was believed that the spirit of the corn (in modern American English, "corn" would be "grain") lived amongst the crop, and that the harvest made it effectively homeless.
A homeless spirit, now what the heck could that be referring to?
Among the customs attached to the last sheaf of the harvest were hollow shapes fashioned from the last sheaf of wheat or other cereal crops. The corn spirit would then spend the winter in this home until the "corn dolly" was ploughed into the first furrow of the new season. "Dolly" may be a corruption of "idol" or may have come directly from the Greek word eidolon, that which represents something else.
Even better, a spirit made homeless when it's original home is cut down, living in a different "hollow" body temporarily.

I could be mistaken, but that Catgirl costume appears to have taken some inspiration from Carrie in Dark Knight Strikes Again.
Nah, her's was considerably more slick, with fewer extraneous accessories. And the new Catgirl is lacking rollerskates, which makes her infinitely inferior to Carrie.
Frazier Irving is the next B&R artist (confirmed), and this is the artist schedule for Return of Bruce Wayne:
#1: Chris Sprouse
#2: Frazer Irving
#3: Yanick Paquette
#4: Cameron Stewart
#5: Ryan Sook
#6: Lee Garbett
It should be all Cameron Stewart, I'm lady gaga over his art now.
I can understand most of the names on that list, but Lee Garbett? His art isn't offensive, but it's bland. And I can't imagine using him for the final issue of a highly-anticipated miniseries.

I look at that list and I see that 4 artists are dependable (Sprouse, Paquette Stewart, and Garbett), which I think is something DC is using as an added buffer for when Morrison sits on the scripts or rewrites something at the last minute.

Garbett had some good looking spreads in 2000AD. I think he could probably nail a Batman book, and since he's going last, he'll hopefully have extra time to polish it, unless Morrison starts changing the script every 5 minutes again.

Well, he already does Batgirl, which looks good enough, but isn't exceptionally interesting. I just can't imagine him doing a high-profile book.
Beechen is better at giving interviews about his stories than he is at actually writing them, I think. He did one over at Newsarama where the last line was something like "Don't worry, Cassandra Cain won't be in it," which endeared him to me a little bit. At least he has a sense of humor about things.

Is that Garbett on Batgirl? I guess you're right on the blandness - I've never even bothered to look at the artists name when I get around to reading that.

Batman and Robin #10: the 'Barbatos' chamber. Just some curious hell-tones and possibilities, posting for those inclined.
(according to wiki)
In demonology, Barbatos is an Earl and Duke of Hell, ruling thirty legions of demons and has four kings as his companions to command his legions. He gives the understanding of the voices of the animals, says past and future, conciliates friends and rulers, and he can lead men to hidden treasures that have been hid by the enchantment of magicians.
His name seems to derive from Latin 'barbatus', bearded, old man, philosopher.

Anyway, they're collecting Gotham Central in Hardcover right? New trades?
There are two hardcovers right now (with issues 1-10 and 11-22 respectively), and a third (23-31) coming in June. So there should be a fourth that covers the final 9 issues.
It's nice that they're not skipping issues like they did with the TPBs. If they end up putting out new TPBs, it'll probably take a while.

I've heard that Manhunter is ending with Streets of Gotham 13, which means I'll finally be able to drop that book soon as well.
