Edit: Okay, so the swimsuit blackmail was amusing. Yosuke has some redeeming qualities.
Sexism is a redeeming quality?
No. The funny shit that happens to put him in his place as consequences is a redeeming quality. Every time Yukiko, Chie, or Kanji tells him off and makes him look like a fool is comedy gold. He makes a good fall guy for the gags.
So yeah... 6/23 and I'm having an idea who the murder in Persona 4 is. Don't tell me if I'm right.
Adachi is looking very suspicious to me and trope sensors are going off.
I hope I'm wrong, as that would be too easy. But I have a lot of game left to find out.
It's funny, but the whole mastermind thing is probably the worst thought out part of P4.
Big spoilers
The list at the end had what? All your social links/party members, the dead teacher, the proven-innocent creepy kid, the new teacher and the fat chick, and then... Adachi. Even if you had no idea who it was, a quick scroll and the most basic of common sense pointed it out to you. I like the idea behind the mystery a whole lot, but man they needed some real suspects to succeed in the execution

Well, that, and a poorly worded translation right before it practically screamed it.
I really dislike the idea that you can totally not know that there's a Good Ending with something like 10 additional hours of playtime and story, and miss it, thinking that that's the ending. Castlevanias, I'm also looking at you.

I actually almost missed the good ending. Not even the true ending, just the good one.
that conversation tree will go down as my most hated ever.

I don't see how you could miss it entirely. It's pretty obvious that there is a good ending at that point, just probably not obvious how to get to it. I know I just said fuck it and read a guide for which answers to give.
Now the true ending I can understand. I like how it fits the theme of "finding the real truth", but I don't think it was necessary for the game to try and persuade you out of it so much.

Strange Journey is going to be insane.
- "proper successor to the SMT series"
- 70-100 hours of play time estimated.
- terminals in dungeons for saving and sub-application swapping.
- determine your main character build (attack type, magic type, etc) by answering 6 questions in the prologue tutorial.
- main applications and sub applications on the Demonica Suit provide a wide range of customizable abilities and functions. Very similar to the COMP installation system in Soul Hackers.
- Macca is the currency, Forma is the resource. You have to pay Macca to refine Forma into usable stuff.
- 3 types of Forma: Base Forma, Assist Forma and Rare Forma.
- Base Forma are used to create weapons, equipment, and items. Assist Forma comes in weapon, armor, accessory and healing types, and influence the creation of items. Rare Forma are used to develop applications for the Demonica Suit.
- The alignment system in SJ is the "stance" system. The main character's stance will change depending on his choices throughout the game.
- Stance will have an impact in not just the story, but in demon negotiation and battles as well. The stance of a character or demon can be easily seen by the color of the name. Green/White/Red.
- He says something about how the player's "large stance" influences demon negotiation, while his "small stance" influences the character's affinity and other stuff. Not sure what exactly that means.
- The Devil Co-Op system is the brand new addition to the battles in SJ. When an enemy's weakness is attacked, demons of the same stance will have a chance of following up with an add-on attack.
- There are various other conditions and bonuses for Devil Co-op, but the guy didn't have information on those from the presentation and demo he had.
- Unknown demons encountered for the first time without any analysis cannot be negotiated with. You build a demon's analyze bar by killing that demon type, fusing it, or successfully negotiating with it for a contract. The higher the analyze bar the more info on that demon is displayed on the bottom screen when fighting it.
- 2 Demon Fusion and Special Fusion are confirmed, but he didn't see any Sword Fusion. There's definitely a compendium with registry, and you can buy demons back with Macca. You can also arrange the list by race or by level.
- There's going to be a brand new unannounced system revealed soon. It's supposed to be pretty major and revolutionary for the series, or at least that's what they're trying to hint to people. Might be something unique to either the DS or to Wifi. It will be announced soon.

it didn't help that I had no internet at the time.
I've told the story before, but I spent atleast 3 hours going through the fucking 20 minute long cutscene and trying to find the right responses. I ended up trekking through about 3 feet of snow to get to a computer to look up the right ones.
Turns out I was closest the very first time I tried. I didn't get the last one because I thought the answer was too douchy and trying to actually roleplay I kept trying to pick the other ones.

Next time they should just add a "Stop being dumbasses, guys." option. That'll save everyone a lot of time.

It was funny I kept
trying to tell the guys not to kill the guy (just rping) and I stopped them but got the bad ending...and I was like huh? . My first thought after trying a second time was to throw him into to the TV. I thought it was pretty lame you had to choose your words in a specific sequence- even though at the base of it you are against killing the guy.

Which is what is important
I like how it basically went
"EVERYONE SHUTUP"
"yes we were all being quite foolish thank you for talking sense into us lololololol"
"yes we were all being quite foolish thank you for talking sense into us lololololol"
Apparently the protagonist has the persuasive powers of Tony Robbins, Dr. Phil, and Montel combined into one.
I could see there being a deleted character using the logic
"Come on guys! There has to be something more! Did he seem like a final boss to you?"
Yosuke: "Yeah you know you're kinda right...he was kinda goofy."
Yukiko : "And he was really easy with my help..tee hee"

Ok so probably really lttp here but what was so "infamous" about the P3 ending? I thought it was really good. Unless they change something in that expanded edition that I never got to play.

I may also have shed a manly man tear at the end.
lots of people initially refused to accept that the protagonist was dead
i guess the whole theme of BITCH YOU GON' DIE passed them by

Ah, ok. That makes sense. I usually dont like sad endings but that was an exception.

A lot of people flat out didn't get it, too. Somehow.
I wasn't a big fan of it, because so much of the game is light
Personally I would have liked it better if he just died, instead of them rubbing it in to make you feel worst. Which it did- it did make it sadder..
But still I mean after you meet Ryoji(sp?) , a lot of the characters are talking about never having thought about their own death. And you're like "Really?" "Really? You put a 'gun' to your head each day and fight god knows what at Midnight each night and you never contemplated your mortality?"...
Parts like that were just dumb..imo.
Personally I like it more when the whole game is consistently dark if they are gonna depress you, as opposed to midway "Don't I look cute in my kimono?".....
"Shouldn't we be consumed with ummm....thoughts about how to fight these things instead of looking cute and getting good grades?"
Ergh sorry to rant....
I wouldn't have played through these last two if there weren't a lot of aspects I liked about each game..
Well, if you were in that position, would you spend the entire time moping? No. You don't spend a year being that depressed. Either you cheer up every once in a while, or you die. A person can only survive being so depressed for so long.
And yeah, the way they dragged out that ending was sad as fuck. But that's what made it so effective.

Yea. I mean you suffer a real consequence (death) as a result of making a metaphorical action that will ultimately prove temporary (the sealing of death).

Not moping, but obsessive-compulsively training I could see (basically Akhiko w/out being preachy)...I'm pretty sure I would drop out of school at least

- He did not see any 2D field maps in the game.
- You can trade demons using passwords.
Indeed, SMT IV. No kazuma kaneko designs in the PS3/XBOX360. SMT goes portable!!!
I ... I need this game right now!
Interested to what this new system might be ... "revolutionary" ... let's hope it lives up to that term.

So I'm on my second play through and I'm once again stuck on Hermit Link no. 7.
Gotta help out this guy with his cat fears and I have absolutely no idea what to do. Currently feeding the flood plain cat a hell of a lot (wee guy is affectionate) but he ain't coming over and I've played with the Dojima residence cat but I don't see an option to bring him over to Mr. I'm a fucking Pussy. How do you do this?
Also I've only ever played P3 and 4, should I pick up Nocturne and/or Lucifer's Call?

The next day, go back to the cat at the Dojima residence after playing with it and you should have the option to bring that guy there.
After that, the next time you speak to him, you'll need to catch him a cute fish - a red goldfish.
Okay. So the shadows in the Strip Club dungeon are annoying with their mostly lack of weaknesses and buffing/debuffing. Any tips to make my life easier?
Oh, and instant death casting random encounters now. Sweet.

You know, more RPGs need to make status effects useful like the SMT series does.
And AoE physical attacks that also cause status effects? Hell Yes! God I love this stuff.
- He says something about how the player's "large stance" influences demon negotiation, while his "small stance" influences the character's affinity and other stuff. Not sure what exactly that means.
I assume this refers to the same "double" alignment system in SMT 1 and 2. "Light-Neutral-Dark" "Law-Neutral-Chaos" only now you can manipulate both sides, whereas in SMT 1 and 2, you were set on "Light" and could only change "Law-Neutral-Chaos"
Want to buy TP for physical attacks so I don't lose HP for physical attacks.
To be honest, short of some of Nocturne's more ridiculous skills (hel-lo Gaea Rage), the HP cost for most physical skills is pretty negligible.
It's actually kind of helpful if you're zipping through P4 on a new game plus, since physical skills scale with your player as opposed to costing all your SP.
